You are an inspiration! I went out on a one day backpacking trip this weekend, only my 2nd time ever. Tottal newb here. Every time I crossed a stream I found myself saying " river crossin ! ". You're creating a cult.

Another awesome video. You have a lifelong friend in Derek. What a great Trail Angel. You tell such a wonderful story , as you hike along, both the ups and downs. Thanks so much for taking us along.

Thank you for the encore.... and the applause continues. Isn't it wonderful to realize there is an amazing creation given to us to enjoy and and an even greater creator with that still small voice that has protected you several times. Thanks again for sharing and hope you weathered Idalia safely! Till next time?

I prefer hiking alone. I truly enjoy my own company. But never ignore others if they are near me. Glad you and Derek had fun together. Sorry you had to experience rude and inconsiderate night hikers. That bear can must have been horrible to carry. Glad you met Shayla. Glad you listened to your gut feeling. Your an inspiration to so many people. 🥾🥾🥾

Great video! I also got emotional when you were crying… I can’t even imagine how happy you were! You need to move to an area where you can do hiking every weekend! Maybe closer to your mom’s or New Hampshire to hike the whites and Franconia every weekend 🥰 there are lots of dance schools here in the New England area 💁🏼‍♀️

Not only does the PCT Permit pledges include not talking loudly near others common decency requires it. I actually have had that (crying) happen several times and think it is because of all the videos I've seen and at pivotal moments (signing the walls at the Sandy Eggo REI, Campo, touching the So TH Monument, getting my first ride in Idyllwild, et cetera) it's a dream come true!

Nicely done. Just finished the trail myself September 9th completing in 11 but was planning for 12 however got caught in that heavy rain in the Tahoe Meadows area taking a zero day at Mt. Rose Campground because the following day would've been disatrous up on Relay Peak with the freezing hail experienced at camp (snowing above) plus much more rain and cross winds. Seems everybody played hooky that day. Made up for it the next two days of major mileage. All part of the great experience. Enjoyed it soooo much. On to the JMT next permits permitting. Made me smile more than once watching your video. (:

Sounds like 2023 was a weird year, maybe due to the late snow shuffling schedules? CW is definitely the most common. In '22 I did CCW from Kingsbury S end of June and met 2 going my way, but probably dozens going CW! Going against the PCT flow was kindof fun as I got a better idea of just how many there were. 🤷‍♂️

Another excellent video, Roadrunner. Showing your resilience as usual. Now, I don't want to poo-poo your mozzie prison, but I'm sorry, that's nothing compared to Scottish midges when camping. Just watch Edward Fitzpatrick's video "The Worst Midges I've Experienced: Cape Wrath Trail - Day 8 & 9" to see what I mean. There are other horror stories from Scotland about these tiny blighters, too.
