Could you please do a video on how to roll roti? I can never make round roti
@SBLtasteoffiji3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I will try but the only way to get round roti is with practice. You can always place a big bowl or plate over it and cut it out if the shape is really important. I’ll try to add a video soon. :)

Hi, would you have a recipe for this sweet made in Fiji for Diwali that's like a mini gulgula with sultanas added ? I don't know what it's called but I've been searching online for it without success. It has a distinctive flavour unlike the regular gulgula which is bland (still nice though) and I do recall it always being served at Diwali but with sultanas added. Thanks for your recipes; please keep them coming. I find your videos fun to watch and the recipes so much more easier to follow than others.

Thank you, dear! Would you happen to have a pic of the sweet that you’re referring to? I add sultanas and/or raisins to my gulgula and I also add some spices (recipe is on here), so it’s not quite bland. Some people add bananas to their gulgula too (I do too sometimes). If you’re positive it isn’t just a well flavored gulgula, then could you maybe describe other characteristics of it and I’ll try my best to help 😀

@@SBLtasteoffiji Our very dear neighbours always invited us over for a Diwali meal and generously provided us with a take home platter of sweets including this little gulgula. It had the texture of a doughnut, they'd sometimes colour it pink and it had either sultanas or raisins. I have no pictures of it but have been searching online for it since we left Fiji.

I’m so sorry but I’m not sure what that could be. The three things that come to mind with “Indian donuts” are gulab jamun, maybe gujiya (although these are stuffed), and badusha (but I’ve never had these in Fiji). We left Fiji in the 1990s and back then Internet wasn’t there nor did we get media/cookbooks/recipes from other places. But I know now, with the help of the Internet, a lot more recipes are being introduced. I wish I was of more help!
