I was serving full time at the date of the incident. All training activities stopped. From my experience many of the “safety” measures were on paper only. The commanders pressured us to hit timings more than ensuring safety to achieve a good KPI for themselves.

That is usually the issue with the SAF. Typically, safety and good timings are mutually exclusive events. They would introduce new safety measures but that in itself compromise the ability to execute good timings for drills and exercises.

When is the last time SG had a war with other country? What's the point training all Singaporeans men to be what our nation wants? All they do is put us in unnecessary danger and risking our lives for some events that will never happen in our generation/lives. We suffer 2 years in NS, and during this time we could have upgraded our self by learning skills, investing our time in education which are critical to our lives and the country's future. I just hope there can be a change in the system, where we will have free will to choose if we want to serve the nation. Thanks

Despite all said by any of the commanders in front of the press, proper procedural protocol in handling this repair have failed terribly. The gun commander and to a lesser extend the personnel who lowered the gun would have been culpable. If written operating procedures by training institute or manufacturer lacked foresight for additional safety. Then they are to be reviewed and culpable too. Blind spots especially not seen by eye can never be taken for granted. You either see it or don't. If you can't see it, you better sound your horn before you take the next move. Same as the previous accident. Many times a lack of common sense in taking the appropriate action are lacking in the commanders. A lack of experience. In the case of lowering of the gun, you would need a double confirmation by walkie talkie. Not voice .. the engine n surrounding noise would have dampen any commander's voice. First confirmation is to have any objects or personnel clear away from the gun area. Second before it is lowered, a double confirmation is needed that area is cleared before lowering the gun. Its a terrible lack of safety foresight and this is usually misguided human errors or lack of experience. Safety taken for granted in this case. When you don't see, you Better Don't act with your gut instinct, double confirm before you get other's into trouble!!!

SAF has and does take good safety precautions. But no matter how safe the standard practices are, things can still happen - let’s stop the blame game and unite as a nation. I’m sure Aloysius is now safe in the arms of his Creator, resting in peace in heaven!

Atam RJ it's the sense of protection that army provides. Without ns investors and foreign businesses wouldn't venture in Singapore. We attract others because of our security compared to many other unstable countries

To those who had been through SAF training, you should know how fcked up their system are.. Rush to wait, wait to Rush.. Once I even reported some safety issue in my camp as Im the Regimental Police.. Those fcked up slacker officers does not care a sh*t about it.. But once there are incident happened.. they will try their best to push to us RP for not reporting.. There was an incident that our RSAF radar was down for the whole night due to some idiot contractor accidentally cut off the power supply for that few Radars.. The next morning one Officer came down to our Guard house to scold us for not reporting the issue. Saying it was a serious matter because the northern part of Singapore island is without any Radar protection for the whole night.. I asked him back a question.. " So what did your Radar guys and gals doing the whole night then?? Sleeping on the job?? We are RP not Radar Specialist.. How do we know when the radar not turning means its not working?? *"What were your SIGNED ON radar guys and gals doing the whole night when the radar was down?? Isn't they suppose to man the radar system during their night shift duty.. to alert the Pilot or Officer in charge of any possible intruder or any unknown aircraft?? Why they didn't even notice that the radar was not functioning???!!!"* That officer kept his bloody mouth shut and walk off.. This are the guys that is protecting our country.. I even saw them sleeping in their Radar command room when I accidentally entered their restricted room many months before these incidents. Guys and Girls were sleeping on the floor using their office chair as pillow.. All of them quickly rush up from the floor with all their messy hair when I on the light.. Saw them lying on the floor sleeping.. I even heard snoring before I on the light. Fcking Slackers!!! I can see the radar screens was running but not a single soul was reading it.. all was enjoying their Zzzzzzz.... *SAF* = *S* lackers *A* nd *F* uckers Especially Those who Signed On.

Look at the large flick rammer in the SSPH, it is a hazard.....it is clear for all to see. Either replace it with a much shortened flick rammer, adopt the US M109 style of ramming projectiles or change to an entire new design of a much larger SPH that can accomadate a large flick rammer and have decent amount of space between rammer and the turret ring. Clearly the current design cannot persist

I'm deeply saddened by the passing of Aloysius he such a talented young man gone too soon. He will not be forgotten. To his families be strong.
