Sorry, Camilla, I love Jesus, but I think you might be misrepresenting having a relationship with God. I met the Lord decades ago and I’m still high strung and tend toward anxiety. And boy can I tend toward feeling the need to control! The thing is, Jesus is always there to take my anxieties and bear them for me and give me His peace and rest. And He’s there to remind me that He’s big enough to let Him have the control. It’s an ongoing learning process and relationship.

I look forward to watering time and am disappointed when the garden doesn't need water! It also lets me slow down and look everything over to spot any trouble. If I had an automatic system I'm pretty sure I would spend less time looking closely, but a drip setup would sure be nice. I've used drip on another place with a much bigger garden than I have now and it was great.

"The Golden Girls"... Goldies for short 😁. Your thoughts on watering and praying in the stillness of the evening are spot on. Plants will live without pruning and a lot of other things that we do to help them along, but there is something special about giving them water. They can't survive without it. That act of caring for God's creation just makes you want to thank the one who gave you that responsibility, and praise Him for his grace and peace.

When I was a kid we got six Rhode Island reds and named them Hens 1:6, because we thought that would be hilarious. We thought we'd never be able to tell them apart, but Hen 2, very affectionate and top of the pecking order, became the most wonderful pet. Some of the others were difficult to tell apart so we'd just all random numbers between 1 and 6 except 2.

It's easier for me that way. I don't roll them up anymore, to much work. And sometimes, watering turns into a fun water fight with the older kids and then the grand kids come out and enjoy the fun. I live in a suburb in Stockholm, Sweden with a pretty small balkony facing north and a tiny slot of dirt outside to plant in so not the best growing posibilities, but in one of your videos you said that you wished that you´ve had started planting earlier, when you lived less countryish. So i´ve started my balkony garden and even a youtubechannel (in Swedish though) to document everything. :) Keep on dreaming, you doing fantastic and making impact.

I’m so glad you addressed this because it takes me two hours to water my vegetable garden and my flowers in pots and beds. The time I spend watering and other garden tasks are a big part of my prayer and worship time . I prefer to water at 5 am because it’s so quiet and as the sun comes up it’s such a magical time of day. Of course the fact it is 100 degrees here in southern Arkansas also influences the need to water early because 80 degrees is better than 100 plus. Lol Thanks for being such a positive influence in my life...

Thank you for your hard work and sharing your farm with the world! It inspires me so much to see what is actually capable in Arkansas with our crazy weather. We live in Northeast Arkansas 20 miles or less from The Mississippi River. As for the chickens, call them The Hot Tamales! Or The Reba’s cause she is red headed!

An idea for what to call your flock of red hens: how about "Lucy's or Lucille's", after Lucille Ball/I love Lucy?? 😉💞 So funny, comparing your alpacas to typical hipsters...I can see that, and it made me laugh! 😄 Kitten George is so cute and clown-like at times... love him! He's sure happy to be with you in the garden- 😊🐈🥰 Your garden is flourishing and looking wonderful! So happy for you, that it will be covered by the magazine! Congratulations again! 👏💖🌱🥒👍🌿🍅

Plants and people indeed can’t take that heat long. I had to take a nap tonight and found out that I missed a nice little summer sighting of a racer snake deciding to exit our garage in our living room. Poor thing must have been in our garage since this weekend when my husband was mowing the lawn. Grateful it was not a three footer and yes, I did ask hubby, “from now on can we please close the garage when you mow?” lol My vote in for the hens is the Minhens instead of Minions.

I totally agree with your philosophy of watering. We have 10 acres and I have little spots of goodness planted all over. It takes me forever to water every other day but I love it. I built it to enjoy it and that forces me to take the time to enjoy it. Could have my kids do the watering but it’s not something I want to give up.

Watering a large garden by hand is actually a lovely thing to do, and I do have a big garden to maintain during extremely hot Australian summers. I do not have a dishwasher, but myself, nor a washing machine out of choice (20 years, and I am a lot older than you) and this means that my body get a work out and my mind is free in the Lord all the time. You know, the people will come and photograph your garden as the real-life living thing that it is, and we see it all the time and know that God made this glorious garden to feed you all and glorify him, not be a showpiece :-) God bless you sister Jess, you family, and your farm.

It is so great that you toss your chickens cucumber you can't or don't want to otherwise use...they are natural dewormers (the seeds are). I grow extra just for mine, so depending on the timing, they might get cukes , or squash, or pumpkin. It does the trick naturally.

I moved to the pacific northwest (the state of washington to be specific) after spending my entire life in the Midwest. I do not miss that oppressive heat. However, you trade one thing for another. Looking back I'm not sure which is worse: the one thousand degree summers in Oklahoma, or these suicidal rainy seasons all winter long up here. People warned me, the rain is difficult to bear. They were right. I miss the storms. The cicadas. Up here, the rain is always just a drizzle. An all day, all night, every single day drizzle for three, four, even five months this year. The rain has finally lifted its grasp off of us. Praise Jesus. But yeah. I do mot miss that heat. God bless you guys

You need to try iced coffee. Oh my is the best thing in the heat of the afternoon. We had construction workers at our house last week and every day when they were just melting I would take them a big mason jar of ice coffee and you could just see in their faces just melt with gratitude.
