"cheating" Is a stupid word! I am so glad I ran into this video. I have had a few people tell me I cheat because I draw out my subject a few times before transferring it to the canvas.
@kittenmimi53265 жыл бұрын
I only use "cheating" to describe someone who say, stole and traced someone else's work and claiming originality over it so they could seem like a better artist. But aside from that context, it's a stupid thing to say to an artist.

Fernando Saint I used to draw things by starting in one spot and then drawing everything else by relative distance between "landmarks" it was effective but very time consuming and if you make a mistake early on and don't catch it ,it can throw off the whole picture so I try to sketch out the basic shapes and size before going into detail

Where the hell have you been all my life, your discourse on Art and Painting is what every person who has anxiety or an art block needs to hear. There is no limits to what we can do, art probably being one the only things we have that really doesn't need any rules or instructions, just maybe the limit of our imagination.

Linu Hamid thats me! Have been blocked, or rather, blocked myself due to heaviness of expectations from others and severe depression from artistically separate but personal situations. Gravitated to new medium I thought I could master, huge failure - tried to keep painting my portraits and... I set it all down and walked away. Year four now and this guy. This guy! I stumbled on his channel and felt what I thought the long dead flame of wanting to paint return. Its not about money, the almighty stressor every person in my life wouldn't shut up about. Do this, you must do this. Don't get a job, paint. Throwing your talent away. How dare you get a real job. Ect ect. Easy to see why I walked from the canvas. And now? If I pick up again I'm not even telling anyone. I love this channel. Even the music is conducive (for me) to wanting to create again. I am so thankful for the content and wisdom he gives. And yes, I held my breath when he laid down the light green over the hair. Yes, I thought shit. Why!!! But thats just it. He's provocative, he wants you to hokd your breath for even just a second. It's perfect. He's brilliant. I'm hooked. Thank you.

Yes, statements on what a "real' artist is, does and doesn't do, should or shouldn't do, or what or how the artist should be creatively influenced, or what we should know (automatically?) before we draw or paint, etc., is so ridiculous and annoying and most of all presumptive (!), of people who aren't artists, as usually those are the ones who love to bestow upon us their "words-of-wisdom" and advice. Of course it's good to keep an open mind, and always be open to learning that hidden gem of enlightment someone may drop on you, but I think just learning to ignore people who are not creatives can be a good thing too. LOL (as in water off a duck, so to speak).
@pat40053 жыл бұрын
@@SincerestSawa That's a good take on it. 😊 Drawing from life is the best, then good photos can make good reference if you think of them as a jumping-off point. I always refer back to life as a reference refresher for certain things or new things, (like textures, and lighting), but as you said, as an artist gains more experience, you don't need reference material as much (depending upon what you are doing, of course). I have always loved drawing and painting people, nature and objects. (OK, just about everything), and from life first, if possible, as it's the greatest learning tool. The camera sees with one eye, but we see with two, so a camera's view is different. But the reference is great when you can't observe something in person. I love drawing and painting fantasy and tecnology too, and a recent painting of an Owlbear was built upon some refrences of different types of fur and feathers, etc., since I didn't have the luck of finding a real Owlbear to pose for me. 😉

Wow, I watched a few paintings from your channel and by far this is the most captivating for me. I love her expression and the fact that she hide her eyes gave her some mystery vibe. I would never said it's mundain. Anyway, I agree with your point about "cheating" in art. When I was a teenager, I was hyper focus about "rules" and "proper way" of doing something, drawing or writing for example, but when I get older, I realised that they are just tools. And if a particular tool doesn't working for me, it's okay to switch to something different or invent my own one. But even now I sometimes get really overhealmed by algorithm, that is constantly showing me videos about "how to do X". I found out that the best remedium for me, when I get artblock, is taking a break from any tutorials and just watch some movies, read a book or see a nice picures, and wait for a moment, when I want to make anything just because it's fun.

Hello yet again Alpay I'm not sure if I told you before, however I'll say it here. You're voice is hypnotic. Just relax, it's safe to relax. Nothing really matters anymore. Your eyes are getting tired and they're wanting to close ............. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAh - into trance That's excellent ! The repetition is also very good. I'm a hypnotist for the last 25 years and I must say, that you've got the tone, the slow delivery off to a tee. I mean all this as a compliment, so please don't be offended Putting all that to one side, I do like your paintings very much. I'm also an artist myself, technical illustrator and I used to be a draughtsman for about 40 years and that was very lucrative. I loved the idea that I got paid as much for drawing a pressure vessel and the same amount for rubbing it out and altering it to the new instructions. Now I'm 74, but I only look about 25 in a poor light from about 500 yards. I'm on a UK pension and it's not really enough to keep me in the style to which I'm accustomed, so I still do oil paintings here in Ban Chang, Thailand. I can paint anything, any subject and quite often do. So if you know anyone in the vicinity who needs a painting then I'm your man. Ban Chang is the "Art Hub" of the known universe as you know ....................... Sorry about that I was just toying with your incredulity No, in reality Ban Chang is the back of beyond for all thing artistic. It's a very nice place otherwise Anyway, well done and keep up the good work. Don't let the critics grind you down. You'll do for me ! Kind regards - Chris in Thailand
