Today I finally made it - and it was again you who made me try it again and again and again - AdZ 59:39. Last August I was just shy of 100kg (at 180cm) and started, now down to 77kg. While Zwift was great at first, soon I was disoriented. Your Videos gave me exactly what I needed. See, I'm 33, second child on the way, got my masters while changing job from financial advisor to process manager and got out of shape (bad excuse, but there might be worse). I'm in the best shape of my life, going for the Vienna City Marathon this year and all of this wouldn't have been possible without the sort of motivation your content gives. Sure, I might have found something similar, or maybe not, but that doesn't really matter, as doesn't matter that there might have been another Dwayne Johnson or Eliud Kipchoge. The thing that moves me most in all of life, emotionally, is when someone pinches their eyebrows and just goes all out, overcoming all those doubts, fears and uneasy impression one gets, when stepping outside the comfort zone. I don't know how successful YT is for you, financially speaking, but given that there are other dimensions of success in life, which I am highly certain there are, what you did and do is just damn amazing. Maybe this could help you out on a rainy day. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!

I did it yesterday in my best time of 1 hour 16mins so definitely going to try and chase you on it, cant see me gaining that much time, more training needed, but hopefully get closer to the hour. Thanks for sharing.

Thats cause your an honest rider probably...I have caught a bunch of people on here cheating. One guy that looked 180 pounds put he was 140 so it causes the watts aka bike speed to increase ....You can calculate this with the AVG Watts and and final KG per watt and figure their weight...Caught one Cat A race where all the top 10 in the race somehow were ALL under 140 pounds....I seen one guy with a belly listed at 130 pounds, he killed The Alpe De Swift at under 1 hour.

Mark, this video was both inspiring and instructional. I just did the Alpe for the first time, and came in at 57:02.2 weighing 86.1kg. I know I would have been over an hour if not for the mental prep and management I was able to do with your guidance.

Nice video. I did 56.11 last night on stage 2 of tdz. I start off steady and build up as I progress, building from 3 to 3.2 wkg upto 5wkg intervals. I use other riders as pace markers I’m 55 and 85kg. Zwift level 41

After several recce rides around 70 - 75 mins I did a full gas effort this week, managed 59.25. I found pushing a lower harder cadence worked best. I appear to slack off a bit much on the easier bends and corners. I'm grafting towards Tron bike by smashing road to sky every week. Having spent a years riding without the Everest challenge selected, my hard earned climbing has not counted towards getting the concept bike. Your posts are helpful & funny, keep it up Influencing does work, I now have an Oura ring & a Wahoo headwind; v happy with both Good luck with Hyrox, I think you're suited to it. Entry fees are a bit steep mind

59:25 is awesome. That last couple of minutes of pushing to get under 60 must’ve been brilliant. It’s way cooler to just scrape under your target then get it easily 😁

Interesting - higher cadences are superior as far as mechanical efficiency goes, but lower cadence seems to keep heart rate down. whatever works!

Was riding up ADZ the other day (118kg), was absolutely flying... rocketing past people 300w, 500w, 800w. Then it dawned upon me that my trainer had stopped changing the resistance! Fuming! I stopped after turn 20 so as not to demoralise anymore poor folks only 10mins in and feeling the burn! Well done... Great time! Keep doing it for the big (ger) guys! 👍 💪

My current PB is 74, so still a fair bit to go. Trouble I have is 3.2 w/kg is above my FTP so I'm screwed trying to do that for an hour. My goal this year is to drop a good wallop of weight (no bad thing) and improve FTP. Hopefully the two will meet at a point I can do it.

I've watched your Alpe videos at least twice (the ones with Nixon too!) and wanted to say an extremely big "Thank you!" - yesterday got my 1st sub 60 Alpe du Zwift - 59:07 :D I actually averaged an hour at my FTP to achieve that 😅

Nicely Done Mark! I think I sorta "cheated" the strategy for mine. I just set my ERG to the wattage to sustain 3.2 w/kg the whole way and came in under the wire. Takes a little of the fun out of it though :).

you may not know this because you were most likely focused on your splits, watts, not dying, looping the correct R4 song at the right time....but what were the primary cassette gears (25,28,32) you used on this effort? Just curious because I am skill working on cadence drills (trying to keep between 80-88 rpm) on climbs so I produce a little more power in easier gears and what you used may give me a target gear to focus on. Quite possibly I am overthinking and should just RTDB. Congrats.

Great question-I had to ask this awhile ago. Basically, only if you have done the climb in the last 30 days, does it show your previous time for that corner. Although interestingly, while you will see it showing my previous corner times for the first 10 corners of this climb-it then disappears after halfway?? No idea why! Also, I should point out that those previous corner times are no guide to anything because they relate to me doing the climb with my dog on my back and using an additional 12 kg of weight into the app!
@allongroth79712 жыл бұрын

Mark on your Zwift ride it shows you start up the mountain and then head back up again. What route is that? The shortest ride I’ve seen is ‘Road to the sky’ but your run looks more time efficient. Any help is appreciated.
@MarkLewisfitness2 жыл бұрын
Well spotted 😂 that’s me being lazy….. here’s what I do - log into Zwift, select watopia as the place to ride then look at the list of people it shows already riding there ….. and pick to ride with them! Zwift will drop you right beside then, wherever they are in Watopia. If it turns out they are in the desert, just exit the ride and repeat. It normally takes me 6 or 7 goes to get lucky and get dropped to someone riding the mountain. Once that happens, turn around and roll to the bottom of the hill (if you join somebody near the top, it will take a few minutes to get to the bottom so I often do this long before I am going to do the ride. I will set my rider rolling down the hill and then leave him. When I come back to do the ride later he will have rolled right to the bottom and be ready to go) I should add this is very lazy and means no proper warmup so it is NOT sensible or good advice 😂)

Note that in order to do this I paced myself quite carefully trying to stick over about 260w @ 76kg. I have fairly recently lost almost 10kg which has helped a lot in doing this, and in order to do that I started calorie counting which was a real eye opener and then moved onto a seriously reduced carbohydrate lifestyle. I no longer in general eat bread and I've pretty much stopped eating cereal.. the weight pretty much fell off, it was amazing. Recommended, but then if you watch marks channel you probably already know all this stuff
