I know I’m a bit late but ya could repair them hulls and use them. It’s not like you’re going to be going over 150 mph.

Why is the top half a mirror of the bottom half??? Looks heavy AF.
@BoatsandEngines3 жыл бұрын
Hello mate, the shape is the result of computational fluid dynamics, trying to get as low a coefficient of drag as possible. Yes the layup is heavy to comply with the the uk RCD rules, we have to use a fairly outdated scantling method to determine Hull and deck thickness . The layup could actually be much thinner according to finite element analysis.
@ADDvanced3 жыл бұрын
@@BoatsandEngines No, I don't mean the layup, I mean you have so much geometry on the deck; it looks like a mirror image of the hull. Is this so you only need to make one mold? What I am getting at is that there is a lot of material, above the horizontal plane that mirrors up and down; if the upper half were flatter you would use way less material. Anyway, cool video! I'm restoring a sleekcraft and watched some of your other boat videos :)

Perhaps have a look at some of the American Hulls. Ur front sponsoons seem to harsh in hull shape.

I sure wish I felt more confident. I’d be all over a build like this. I’ve been building boats my whole life here in central Missouri, mostly glassed plywood duck boats, sneak boats, cedar stripper canoes and wood Jon boats. This thing you’ve built is insane and I’d love to have one. By chance do you sell plans for it? I e never made a mold but definitely not opposed. You do great work brother! Well done! I’ve subbed!

Why not sand and fill the air bubbles?

What about some lifting strakes & or chines. 4 what its worth, what about metal flake with some carbon fibre insets.

orange color would look good or why not just keep the carbon fiber with a clear coat. you could also paint it same candy color.
@BoatsandEngines6 жыл бұрын
Rayden Dacosta yes you're right, i could paint it and get it looking nice, however Im woried about the adhesion between the laminate, it would probably be ok but I couldn't be 100%.

not familiar with the infusion process you are using. All of the DIY carbon fiber videos I've watched vacuum bag after rolling the resin first insuring good infusion of the carbon fiber material. But for you to do it that way I think you would need help rolling the resin in order to get it bagged before the resin kicks. Might look into doing it that way instead of drawing the resin in solely by vacuum...hope this helps.
max thompson Im going to be using a '68 mercury 1000 on this one, I would also like to do an inboard powered one with either an Audi quad cam V8, or the Ferrari based Maserati V8 if I can get hold of one cheaply.

@@BoatsandEngines I am a 16 year old carpentry student. With a proper workshop and some more experience do you think it is possible to build a boat like this out of wood[obviously with more supports(screws in end grain won't cut it) and some holes drilled to aid lightness]? The big issue is where to use it(I take that this is not suitable for begginer or sea use) I am probably better of building a small boat. I will hopefully be in the Isle of Anglsey UK, wales soon ish.

Hay an electric motor and a lil imagination. Might be worth testing the waters lol also what's the difference between using carbon fibre and carbon kevlar? Is on better then the other? Probably a dum question but I was wondering
