Old video now, but I remember when these were in early development. I am very impressed by how far these have gotten. An amazing accomplishment with four hobby grade jet engines, and some creativity. Very nice work. The suit can do Vtol and has high speed flight capability. Looks like fun.

Bet it runs out of fuel quick though. I’d be interested to see what kind of range these suits could get. Imagine if they could one day get a couple hundred miles. You’d just fly somewhere that would normally take a couple hours of driving. Since humans are the vehicle, it would be limited on speed, because obviously strapping something that could do Mach 2 to your back would be suicide, but just flying like that would be fun at even relatively low speeds.

This was taken from above with an electronically stabilized telephoto lens. It makes objects that are further away disproportionately large compared with near objects. This creates an apparent compression of comparative distance. A careful look at their movements gives a better clue as to the real distance involved. They were not close enough to the jets for either to be in danger. It was a hell of an accomplishment, however. The men in the strap on jets were moving their legs constantly for stability and seemed to be almost jerking in response to the quick reactions needed to stay stable. It works, however, and will be constantly improved. Dropping from a helicopter allowed them to build airspeed quickly while falling, which gave them headway to take advantage of the power of their jets to combine with the energy picked up from gravity in order to aim up and soar quickly to altitude. The jet men would have a more stable ride if the center of pressure could be moved further back by moving the wings further back. I'm sure the designers are well aware of this and other factors took precedence for the final design. Again, this will be much improved with time. The cost? progress combined with a widening market may drive the price down below that of one of those jets in the future, but I wouldn't count on it.

Those jets are not struggling at all. If you had any experience as a fighter pilot and knew anything about the alpha jet you would know when an alpha jet is struggling in flight. These alpha jets arent wing tipping or ocselating on the wing tips at all. So they are probably doing 250 knots at a minimum. Plus the flaps are only at a 30 degree angle no were near full flaps and they havent even toggled the Leading Edge flaps at all either. Educate yourself it provides stability 30 degrees and barely slows you down at all.
