I've been following Yves' exploits for at least 15 years and I'm just amazed that he and his friends are still the only ones doing this, at least that I'm aware of. If I were younger and had the money to do it this would be my idea of the perfect sport. Now I can only watch and be amazed by something so exciting, incredible and at the same time beautiful as these humans carving the skies.

You can start skydiving on your own now. You're allowed the year you turn 16. So if you're 15 and turning 16 this year you can, if not you can start next year with AFF course. Between 1000 and 1500$ should be enough to cover the course. Gear is 2500 to 5000 depending if you want brand new or old (but still good) stuff.

@@afarzafar753 Yeah you can, i do it every time i jump my wingsuit, google squirrel wingsuit flare :) if you mean continue to climb after the flare then you are correct, you need thrust. but we can climb a bit, around 300 ft for some of the best jumpers.

Bunny Wrong. Being a skydiver myself this all depends when a malfunction happens. In a full dive close to the ground sure you'd have little time but these guys fly at a certain altitude AND, this is important, they are mostly no where near terminal (vertical) velocity which means compared to a skydiver dropping full blast downward they'd have comparable more time to solve any malfunction or pull their chute (or reserve if that fails, yep they are carrying two).
