I'm not sure there's enough interest to keep this, Fab and Metazoo alive. Mind you this being a board game hybrid might help. Time will tell.

This feels exactly like any of the dozens of MtG ripoffs that the market already rejected in the mid-90's. This is the first I've ever seen of this game, but claiming this is a Magic-killer feels like someone released a DOS-based DOOM clone in 2023 and you're expecting it to replace the entire Call of Duty franchise.

It’s normally 36packs and will be that per box. The alpha boxes have 39 packs as a sorry for being so late to release. That’s why 39 packs. Will only be that way for alpha boxes

One thing I love about this game is how they do playsets. Uniques you can only have 1 in your deck Elites you can have 2 Exceptional you can have 3 Ordinaries you can have up to 4 It makes you opening a Unique doubly exciting, because you have a full playset already!

But certainly the ordinarys and in part the exceptionals will be cheap. If the game picks up and gains a lot of players the meta uniques and elites will hold some good value. Especially when you get one that collectors are after aswell

doesn't seem like a good idea tbh. 1. it adds an unnecessary complication to the game, for no benefit. 2. conflating gameplay with financials is just asking for trouble. 3. this will get even more convoluted when cards are reprinted in other rarities. 4. it discourages them from printing cards in multiple rarities. 5. it devalues high rarity cards. 6. it will be convoluted three-fold if/when cards become banned/restricted.

The unique foil is a huge hit, each of those cards only has a population of 248. Less than MTG serialized. Even elites are 1/466. Gorgeous cards all around, I cracked 4 boxes and wish I bought more.

Rudy, you pulled a Dual Land and you unknowingly just breezed on by it. I've played this game several times already. What I love is that it has locations (sites) that your Avatars, Minions, Relics, Monuments....all move around on. Build out your sites in many directions and you expanding your battlefield. It goes into a deeper level than MtG. There is a 2nd strategy that takes place. Sweet! BTW - I love Magic. I've been playing/collecting for over 20 years. I never thought there would be another TCG to come around to get me this excited. I guess I was wrong. Sorcery is AWESOME!!

Just got my kickstarter box and I'm so excited. I started magic in '94/'95 and the art was 100% why. I'm so over the new all-digital art of mtg these days. Even if the cards are shite compared to modern ones power-wise, I would love to play a game with cards all from the old hand painted ice age/homelands/mirage days again, so...sorcery.

I got as bunch of sorcery ordinary and exceptional bulk and was severely underwhelmed by the flimsy cardstock, faded colors and how many just okay cards there were in regards to art. Lots of duds. MtG portal starter decks are 1000x better. We're in the Sorcery pump right now...I forget what comes next.

I sold quickly bc on east coast so early US delivery so expected rush of listings with rest of US getting theirs delivered which I thought would be a race to the bottom. It's not a competitive style tcg more kitchen table oriented so that's what bolstered my opinion of race to the bottom. Fun fact: Rudy's first Metazoo video garnered 62k views. People absolutely loved it, opening up boxes, pulling full holo Mothman, selling boxes and cards on the secondary market for incredibly high prices. It was labeled as the "Pokemon competitor", that the artwork was an "old school throwback". But when the easy-money stopped flowing the deep pocket collectors left and prices sank. Can't imagine what beta is going to do to Alpha card prices considering they'll be so easy to get. Then we'll see if people actually even want to play this. He starts off that he made the video because people were bombarding him about it. Sounds kind of similar to how he started this. Also saying that flesh and blood was the magic killer at the time. It's done well, it did not kill Magic. History has a funny way of allowing you to glean the future from it.

Exactly why I listed & sold my only box within 2mins of delivery. Its designed to be more casual kitchen table style gameplay so the lack of Competitive play really concerned me for long term. I wouldn't say it was a Magic-killer, because the vibe I'm getting is that it's way more casual and less win-at-all-costs, net-deck etc. It actually does feel like Magic in the early, early days. FaB is the competitive CCG you want if you're after a Magic killer.

There's something pretentious about renaming things that most people already have agreed upon names for. it reminds me of Apple having proprietary plugs for all of their devices so you get stuck in their ecosystem. @@DeathdealerIII It's just the ratios based on how large the alpha print run was, there will be more in beta. In total from alpha boosters we have; 3376 of each Unique (248 foil) 8784 each Elite (466 foil), 26,508 Exceptional (780 foil), 125,310 Ordinary (1164 foil), and 90,884 basic sites (1164 foil). Rarity isn't the only measure of how expensive a card is, there is the "alchemy 9" (like P9), Frank Frazetta arts that won't be in the beta due to licensing, big hits like Kythera Mechanism or Erik's Curiosa (company namesake). Even though there are the same number of those cards, they have been 2-3x as expensive due to demand. The rarity system also dictates how many copies you can have in your deck, so while expensive/rare, you can only have 1 of a unique in your deck, where it's 2 for elites, 3 exceptional, 4 ordinary.

@@DeathdealerIII MTG used to be way more scarce with it foils, special ment something. Now everything is special so nothing is. To combat this they made serialized cards. So same thing but Sorcery did not put numbers on them.

interesting that Disenchant and Dispel have the same effect but can be cast with different elements. Like Disenchant / Naturalize in MtG.

I love the art and decided to get a little bit from the kickstarter. I haven't decided if Im going to open it yet, other than most likely the precon decks, but this has me excited to possibly open one or both of the booster boxes.

My only regret is that I didn’t buy more alpha sorcery boxes. I really don’t have anything to compare it to. I was too young when magic and Pokémon released to really get involved and enjoy the early stuff but damn opening a box of sorcery was just insane! I’m all in, can’t wait for beta, I’ll be buying a kit from Rudy for sure. If Alpha prices cool down I’m 100% going back for more
