Buck had a great career but I can't help but believe he was still under appreciated! He deserves all the appreciation in the world if you ask me!

I met Buck in Honolulu in 1964 or 65, I hink it was. He was performing in a local car lot on a stage in the middle of the lot. he was one of the most down to earth and human performers I've ever met in my life. He wasn't yet famous, but Tiger By The Tail came out shortly after that, and he skyrocketed to fame very quickly. He actually came to see me to tell me about his good fortune, and wanted to say goodbye to me! A few days later, he returned to the mainland. I never met him again, but I still have very fond memories of him. He was a great, ordinary guy!

Buck Owens is single-handedly responsible for the Bakersfield sound. Great songwriter, singer Entertainer and guitar player. I've got to look up that acoustic guitar with an electric headstock. That's wild. That's the kind of guitar I wanted

@@carlmorell567 hey...I'm not sure if you ever found out but there are a couple of guitars of that type. You might find a Fender Newporter which is like that, or a San Miguel or a Sonoran, both by Fender.

I knew Buck very well. I'm a Bakersfield native and he and I belonged to the same country club for a number of years. He was such a gentleman and a very good golfer. Despite tremendous means, he always had a streak of that dust bowl kid in him - never took any success or any relationship for granted. His legacy will live on for ever.

I gained utmost respect for him in 1985, when my wife and I were in the "lounge scene" on Hee Haw with Faron Young. A camera broke, and the whole cast left the set, except Buck. He stayed and entertained the studio audience for nearly two hours, while the camera was being fixed. He had a good heart.

That's amazing. I had no idea he was that big in country music. Fifteen consecutive #1 hits? Total of 25?! That's very impressive! As a kid watching him on Hee Haw, I sensed he was a down to earth genuine good guy, not like other celebrities that seemed to be putting out an image. Good video.

For 10 years Buck Owens put on a benefit show for Children's Christmas toys sponsored by the Marine Corps. For years it was my job to come up with a "thank you" gift for Buck. One year we got him a 5 foot tall Teddy Bear. My then 6 year old daughter presented it to him on stage. It made quite a sight, a child giving HIM a toy. The bear was much bigger than she was. As I remember, Buck cried.

I grew up on the Bakersfield sound. My aunt lived in Bakersfield. My family used to travel south on the 99 corridor to her house where we listened to the Bakersfield sound and the Border Blaster station XERF-AM from Ciudad Acuna Mexico which featured WolfMan Jack. Even though I was a small child those memories of my sweet aunt Nina, her home and the music stand out in my conscious memory as the good times.

Tune was too simplistic for me and liked "Act Naturally" much better. For a couple of years I dated an "Old girlfriend" who lived in Bakersfield not very far from the Crystal Palace and we went there a few times. For many years I rode motorcycles with a group who made the 500 mile trek to Death Valley ever year and Buck's place was always a watering hole for the group.

The story about not feeling well enough to play, meeting the couple who "drove 700 miles," doing the show for THEM ... and then dying that night is the most heart-breakingly tragic story of a selfless hero I've ever heard. ... Good memories of people who hav already left. Thought of them and felt lonely. Heard a western radio station once saying bad things of Buck and thought at least hes not doing rapping. Original country/western. RIP BUCK YOU WERE THE BEST!!!

You are sorely missed. Slowly but surely all the country singers are being called home. Rest in peace.
