It's finally here! It's been 5 years since I first covered the original IRON MEAT prototype and it's got better and better with each iteration. I've added a link to a playthrough of the original prototype at the end of the video if anyone want's to see how far the game has come. I love everything about the game, and personally, I think it's the best Contra-like ever made. Also, the soundtrack slaps (my fave song is probably level 2). It's one hell of a game and I'm glad I finally managed to beat the meat! :)

I just have to say, the credits are really wholesome? It’s actually not often you see a game show humanity cleaning up after an apocalypse. Also nice Samus style reveal at the end for the soldier from the opening.

I don't know, the ending is pretty bleak when you think about it: 40:18, The amount of coverage on Earth is really bad. Then there's the fact that the only survivors we see are the military and no civilians or animals. Finally, the last scene shows a place that likely never got infected... But its also right next to an ocean and the moon is gone. Granted, civilian survivors could have been evacuated to safe areas and animals may have been immune to infection.

It's also nice to see that the military is active at several points in the game proper - you're not alone, there are others who are fighting back alongside you.

Now I can enjoy the background art without dying. Such as that one dude on the train who throws you a powerup and then blows himself up to stop the infection.

Ah man. I was really hoping this game would be longer than just an hour. I mean, I know the original Contra was about the same length. But still. An hour just doesn’t feel long enough for seeing all the awesome things this game world could provide.

Hi! It takes a lot longer than an hour to complete the game though - this is a no damage playthrough but it's a brutally tough game where you'll die a lot. Plus there are lots of achievements and skins to unlock and the hard mode is brutal (it doesn't just increase enemies HP). I'd say it's got quite a lot of content for this style of game - for reference the OG Contra could be completed in 16 minutes and Contra 3 is just 24 minutes with no deaths.

OK. That was great gameplay. Well done. And this game is fun to watch (I wouldn't enjoy playing this type of game myself, though). They really meshed Contra and Metal slug's gameplay and design. And the people making the game are very inspired. Everything is top notch, the sprites, the animations, etc. It looks so hard, though. Edit: Yes. This really looks like a labor of love. You can tell how much the devs enjoyed making this masterpiece. That's what I call pixel *ART.*

Holy s**t. Unexperienced players watching pro plays could not realize how actually hard such games are. Souls-like games are nothing in comparison. It took me literally years to beat US version of Contra Hard Corps without emulator save-states. And there are still a lot of places I were not able to beat consistently.
