Want to get your feedback. For how many of you is the simple plug and play/consistency of a webcam enough to buy it over the GoPro or phone setup?
@ClassicRuben3 жыл бұрын
Couple hundred for a 4K webcam isn’t bad though compare to a 4K camera or newer 4K iPhone. If money is a big issue, then I can see going with go pro or the phone you have at the moment. But for streaming 4K isn’t really necessary either. Most viewers can’t even watch streams at that high quality anyways.

06:43 It's not just a software crop - even though most webcams are. It works just like a GoPro! You can see this in the pincushion effect of your doors on the right of the image. In Linear, they are straight up and down, in Wide, they are bowed inward. The lenses are changing the FOV. :) This is illustrated again at 10:43 when you're discussing the "distance" you seem from the camera. The fisheye effect of the lens changes keep you feeling up close while keeping the wide FOV. AVerMedia PW513 doesn't, meaning the lines are straighter but you feel further away.

I was just about to point this out. The slight zoom is a linear option so all of the distortion from the wide-angle 103 is now gone. Look at the door frames between the two shots and you will see that they are curved in the wide shot and straight in the linear mode. As said, just like the GOPro does.

With the gopro, linear mode is done in software. You can do the same thing in after effects.

Nothing else you showed was close imo and I'm confident I can get the color/tonal settings close enough with adjustable temperature lights. Plus, messing with the settings on a gopro as a webcam is pretty annoying and limited. For example on the hero3+ your WB settings are limited to auto, 3000k, 5500k, 65000k, or raw. And auto isn't great. Also tried the logitech C920, but it went back in the box within 24 hours. Would drop to around 15 FPS in low light. Ultimately, I think this strikes the good balance between webcam pricing/ease of use and mirrorless/dslr quality, but we'll see! Excited to try it out. The Kiyo Pro DOES save to the camera, but not if you are using Synapse. I don't have Synapse installed at all and that does mean I can't use HDR or the FOV settings, but all the settings I change (using OBS) persist when I restart or unplug the camera with the possible exception of the gain setting (which never saved on the Kiyo, either). The weirdest thing about the Kiyo Pro to me is that it seems a bit softer and has a bit more chromatic aberration than the original Kiyo, but the upshot is significantly improved lighting and frame rate.

Just a quick note regarding the business professionals using webcams: sometimes a webcam is the only option outside of the very sub-par integrated one because the IT department doesn't give admin rights and doesn't want everyone to install OBS, regardless of one's tech knowledge. That means that at least the phone option is out (I'm not sure if a cam link is detected as a webcam by conferencing software?). It doesn't make any of the points raised in the video any less valid but I thought it was unfair to assume that a "business professional" would not be tech savvy and this would be the reason their reason to go for a webcam :)

Low tech solution for measuring angle. Get 2 adjustable arms that can pivot. It could be old swing arms from a light or something like that. Have a card or something that sticks up at a distance probably 3-5 feet. Move the arms apart to where they are barely visible on each side. Then all you have to do is measure the angle with a protractor and you will know the exact angle. You could attach a protractor to one of the arms and then when you get them into position, all you have to do is look at the reading.

They're just making blind money...For just a webcam I won't invest that much money... I can use my old mobile as webcam which is better quality than any webcams....

"You can use your phone as a webcam by downloading an app for less than 10 bucks". This is the most apple sentence I've hear in a long time.
@OZEEtube3 жыл бұрын
But the same goes for Android phones? The App is for iOS and Android.
@FSXgta3 жыл бұрын
There's a free app that's much better. Irinum webcam. You can even use it over WiFi and OBS picks it up. However this is Android only (I think)

get a warranty replacement dude, you probably just ended up with a defective unit since it’s a new product, you’ve got a year of warranty so nothing to be worried about.

Are there any major advantages of the Elgato Camlink for streamers vs just getting a cheap 1080/60 HDMI to USB capture device? And can you adjust the gopro via PC software or do you need to do it all on the device itself?

What do you think for $100? Worth it? I hope so because I just bought one on sale
@SpicyOliv3 жыл бұрын
That Kiyo looks surprisingly good. Great definition, just sucks about the slight over saturation and white spot on the forehead. The definition on something as simple as your facial hair is crisp and clean looking. The Hero 4 and the Cam link is probably my preferred way, as it gives you so much control and flexibility. I've been eyeing up the Dragon Touch action cameras myself as an option, as they seem like a much more cost effective alternative to the Go Pro. A new Dragon Touch can be had for the same or less than a used Go Pro. Any thoughts on that?

4K has a huge advantage over 1080p - more pixels means more to work with when you do more than just showing the picture on screen. Things like chromakeying will pretty much always work better with more data.

I find the GoPro looks awsome! I would have loved if you would have shown off your DSLR setup as well. I have a DSLR (Nikon D5600), which I never have used for streaming so far, I will look for a tutorial as well

I originally purchased a Razer Kiyo thinking it would have been a good cam. When I found that I couldn't save my settings, light ring was a real disappointment washing out the image and that Razer did not release any form of update to help resolve these problems. Instead it looks like they just release the Kiyo Pro and what, forget about the Kiyo users. I took your advice and use a gopro hero 6 black that I already had. I agree with you. It may not be the best but it is better than a webcam. And because of the dynamic range on the gopro I find lighting is key as the image might look a bit dark.

My take from this video is that the Avermedia 513 is the better cam. So.. these are the top options for 'traditional' webcam? That's it the Avermedia is now the world top webcam?

I've been using my phones for working from home, which has been a Note 10+, and now a Z Fold 3. My boss has a stigma about using phones. Thinks it means less professional. Picked up the Kiyo at the discounted $99. Seems okay but my phone does just as well. So I'll be rubbing that in my boss's face at every opportunity. Great vid!

Did you try the Elgato Facecam? I think its quality is better than all of these webcams.
@caps7413 жыл бұрын
I have the non Pro version of the Kiyo for $99. Works fairly decent and gives some additional lighting. If or when I upgrade I would be more in favor of the GoPro. if you are going to hit the $200 price point, you might as well be in the position to give yourself the most options. The only downside is learning how all the function work. If you're streaming to make money, that's part of it. You have to learn as much as you can to get better. Better tools require more knowledge.

Sony a6000 for me. although wildly out of budget for this specific purpose alone, a lot of people already have a mirrorless camera laying around for filming vlogs, taking photos, etc. Simply use that with a nice lense and boom. top tier quality webcam.
@AteAllThePies2 жыл бұрын
Yes the plug and play convenience of a webcam is important when you also use it for work - i.e. don't have admin rights to install additional software on a work laptop so can't use the software required to use an old phone/go-pro as a webcam. (which sucks, but man's gotta make a living too!).

I don't know if it was the KZbin encoding, but I thought both the color and clarity of the Avermedia looked a bit worse than the Kiyo, even after you fixed it mid recording. I'm going to go with a Kiyo because it looks the best to me here in the video playback. The Hero looked good, much better than the iphone, but not enough to justify all the extra steps.
@Gherbert13483 жыл бұрын
GoPro looked the best and I agree with the future flexibility of using a capture card. In fact many people already own a mirrorless camera for still shooting that might work great!

This is a super late comment but what do you think of the Kiyo Pro on sale for 100 off? Do you think there is a better webcam out there for the same price or should the pro just be an instant snag at this price?

So I've used a similar setup to this as it was something more that I could afford. I was actually able to pick up believe it or not 12 go pro hero 3 cameras and 2 gorp hero 4 black cameras for less than $200 on ebay, so I have a few to play around with... My only question is..... Is there a way that if I want to stream myself playing a game, I can use multiple cameras to get multiple camera angles displayed at the same time? Will I just need 2-3 cam links plugged into go pros and then set that up through obs. Also what did you use to continuously add power to your cameras? Because I know the 2 hr battery life of those things just doesn't cut it over time. I'm really interested to see as this would be the ideal way to stream imo. The only drawback I can see is having a feature to zoom on the fly.

I was wondering what are your thoughts on the nexiogo webcam if you have used it. It seems to be a pretty nice webcam according to the Amazon reviews
@kampfkanguru19513 жыл бұрын
I've tried to use my phone (Oneplus 3) and the quality is fine but I can't use it's full range since the app I'm using only allows to do it in 30 fps. Also latency seems to be a problem. Since most webcams are totally overpriced because of Covid the GroPro-Setup is quite an interesting option. I like that you put it into the video because I didn't even think about it. It looks really good (even though I might need to invest some time to set it up right since I don't know much about cameras) and it's definitly my favorite out of all setups you've shown. Thank you for the nice video, it was really helpful :)

Another thing worth mention is that there is usually some audio/video offset you may need to correct with the iPhone or GoPro setup, which can be a pain in the butt
