There is a new culture in Mpls. It moved in beginning in the early 1990's. Minnesota voters didn't vote for the new culture, but the politicians wanted to strengthen their base, so the new culture was imported for politics.

"We're just having fun" - then shooting fireworks past his head and causing hearing problems. Causing physical harm, with no sign of remorse or compassion. This population is putting us in a double-bind - we aren't supposed to admit to fearing their criminality, or be called names like bigot, etc., but if we don't have reasonable fear of their behavior and protect ourselves, that leaves us vulnerable to being their victims, including physical and property damage.

Nowadays, I won't go to a Twins game or any other function in that city. You aren't safe in the metro area any time of the day or night anymore. Such a shame that the so-called state and city leadership has bowed down to the thugs that want to rule the streets. Grow a set Walz and Frey. I used to work at a downtown Hennepin county office, managing a caseload in the refugee assistance unit. I began noticing “batches” of Somalis being added to the caseload in 1991. My supervisor had no insight about the Refugee Resettlement organization that has cooperation from Catholic Charities and Lutheran Social Services. Since leaving that job because of risks incurred while going to my car in a lot now taken over by the convention center expansion, I refuse to go into Minneapolis for anything. But I also found the same risks beginning near my townhouse in Plymouth; soon I stopped driving to nearby Palmer Lake with a plan to walk my dog there. Clusters of Somali men gathered in the center of the lot so I would have had to ask them to move so I could drive to a space to park. They saw my car stopped and waiting to proceed but apparently were baiting me to ask for cooperation. I already had been warned of their sport of tormenting and/or killing dogs. I have continued to research their culture that led to their relatives residing in a refugee camp in Kenya. One outstanding claim I found, after a Somali mother said nothing to her 60-pound son who jumped on my foot while we waited at a customer service line, severely injuring my ankle to the extent I was stymied and crying in great pain, is that supposedly Somali culture doesn’t allow mothers to discipline boys. Why has the state of Minnesota disregarded the fact that some cultures hate the USA and will resist respecting rights of citizens? Certainly other refugee camps exist and the state’s Christian organizations could reach out to help those of a culture that doesn’t teach and/or allow such hatred. Many videos of the Muslim migration, after the Arab spring, show their anger at being offered food from Red Cross ~ they said they reject all symbols of Christianity ~ and look who’s trying to help them. I doubt the attacks on churches and non-Muslim cemeteries will cease just because Minnesota has provided generous welfare to them. Garden of Eden in Burnsville (?) is exclusively Muslim, FYI, but I doubt the Garden of Eden is recognized by their holy book (Quran) which also vilifies dogs, raped women and Jewish people (It’s all at the back of the book ~ the front of the book has admonitions that indicate it’s a peaceful religion)
@loloholmes2793

I went to a community college outside of the Twin Cities in the early 2000s and loved going to Minneapolis regularly. It was a lot safer than other large cities I’d been in and the people were easy to get along with, even the rougher people. I got a job in the South but had aspirations of moving back and possibly putting roots down in Minneapolis or St. Paul. I don’t think I want to even visit the Cities anymore. I got my sights set on another underrated large American city that I don’t tell anyone about because I’ve never heard anything in the National media about it and when I’ve visited it, it reminds me a lot of Minneapolis. People are nice, it’s easy to get around, tons of history, lots of jobs, housing market is TOTALLY reasonable, and I don’t tell people where it is because it really is a hidden gem. There are cities like this still, unfortunately Minneapolis isn’t one of them anymore.

There is a lot of money in Minnesota as there are still many great jobs with Fortune 500 companies in the Twin Cities including all the medical device companies currently. BUT taxes are rising despite ridiculous surpluses ($2 billion last year but they gave some of it back to those who didn't pay taxes😡). Under this current Dem Governor & Dem legislature they are furiously passing all the liberal/progressive crap. So, they are not kind to businesses (they haven't been for 20 years with Dem AG's). Some businesses moved out of Mpls after George Floyd because they were left unprotected and lost part or all of their business. I foresee a new California on our horizon if things don't change quickly. More people have left Minnesota than have moved here in the last few years.

Lived in Mpls in the 70's, and later in the 90's. The difference in the city from 1978 to 1992 when I returned was horrendous. Left for good in 1996 and won't be back. The biggest factor imho is the naïveté of the people who live there. In the early 90's states around Minnesota adopted welfare reform and the notorious '3 Strikes You're Out' legislation, which put a 3-time convicted felon in prison for life. Minnesota didn't pass either, and starting around 1992 the worst of the worst from places like Detroit, Chicago, and Milwaukee were moving to Mpls. A year later the St. Paul Pioneer Press ran an article talking about how the murder rate in St. Paul had gone from 35 to 145 murders in one year. They were wringing their hands wondering what had caused it, and then about a week later a followup article appeared, and they'd found that of the 145 murders, over 100 of them involved people who'd lived in Minnesota for less than a year. The gangs had arrived and the hayseeds up there are just now figuring it out.

Lived in Minneapolis and moved to AZ. Minneapolis won't be coming back. The crime "statistics" they make up don't matter. When you start feeling threatened its a tremendous reduction to your quality of life. Many of the good things about your life disappear, places close, you can't do what you want at certain times. Remember, Minneapolis winter is pretty uncomfortable for half the year, so there needs to be some good stuff to offset that cold. When the good stuff disappears, what's the point, leave. When good people keep leaving you reach a point of no return...not enough rational people left to vote your way out of it. Doom loop.

The system of law and order is gone for now. We need to encourage mindfulness and self-protection, don't count on the judicial systems to help. Minneapolis once the shining star of the north is gone, maybe forever. No one wants to go there, no one who lives there feels safe and the beauty is gone.

Minneapolis started to go to heck in about 2010. I escaped to a much worse city (New Orleans) but oddly, I feel safer.

Perhaps these fine Somali lads are so overjoyed at being in America they can't help themselves. They are great, intense patriots with God Bless America ringing in their ears with rapture and joy. All this Love of Country has them exuberant, and blowing off fireworks at people's heads is symbolic of their newly found patriotic zeal.

Not worth reporting when the politicians and law enforcement victim blame. Car windows won't get smashed if you garage your car. It's your fault for leaving any item in your vehicle. Install a fence to stop them from entering your property. Don't leave mail or packages on your property, take it in as soon as delivered. And a host of other victim blaming excusses that we have all heard.

This is happening to cars in garages. The MN AG has set in motion a decline that has no bottom by no longer prosecuting crimes like B&E and Theft. The numbers are clear, Mpls is in the midst of a business and residential exodus by those who historically fund the city budgets.

I live at 34th and Freemont Uptown. My neighborhood was peaceful and calm. What do you think the demographic of my neighborhood is? Working class Americans of all races and orientations. The Calhoun square area has been gutted and destroyed. I work for Lunds and the Uptown store is one of the very few healthy businesses left. Williams pub just closed. We have to do something.
