I'd fashion several plug-in peripherals and modules for it, akin to the add-ons for Coleco's ADAM, or Timex/Sinclair's line of slim, membrane-keyed machines, or even Mattel's promised Intellivision vaporware "expansion". I'd build the works - console, display, deluxe joystick, RAM carts, keyboard, disk/tape drive, mini-printer, all that jazz - and show it to friends and classmates, joking about its ridiculously advanced imaginary specs. "Plays Atari 2600/5200/7800, Odyssey 2, Vectrex, Bally, and all British Columbia fresh fruit!" 34 years later, and the hapless goofs and conscience-free scamlords behind the "VGS RetroMeleon by ColeYoMomma" are pretty much doing the same thing. Their prototypes, to date, have exactly the same original digital guts as my WilkinVision, which is far, far less than zero. Of course, the difference between my fanciful silliness and their loopy retro dream is that real money is involved and personal reputations are at stake...and the whole matter is turning into the kind of wild tale that folk musicians write blockbuster songs about.

Im not taking any sides here but for one Pat never once mentioned gamester81, or even alluded to the fact he was talking about him. He named names, websites, people associated with the project, none of which were G81. If you *actually* fucking listen he went on to say that anybody still shilling for the CC AFTER the NY toyfair debacle should apologize. Now to my knowledge G81 was NOT promoting the Chameleon after the toyfair incident, and like he said in the video he was caught off guard and pulled support for the system. Now unfortunately G81 was working on porting over a pack in game for the console, so the very vocal minority made a wrong assumption and yes some people got on G81 for his perceived involvement with the CC without actually knowing the facts of the matter. These people were of course in the wrong but they came to that conclusion on their own, because again Pat never mentioned G81 nor did anything he said really apply to G81... Some people are saying G81 made the video because of a guilty conscience, well no he made the video because people were accusing him of something that wasnt true, so he did it to clear the air and put his side of the story out there. The video was mostly fine but he went wrong in a few places... 1. He was still after everything essentially defending Mike Kennedy and the Chameleon with a "what if" defense, well sorry after 3 failed attempts at fooling your would be customers there is no "what if" anymore. Mike Kennedy is a pathological liar and would say or do anything to re-cooperate the money he blew on the Jaguar tooling. What he did at the NY toyfair, and with the DVR card is considered attempted fraud. If he had his way they would be running a kickstarter campaign as we speak taking money from unsuspecting customers/investors. If only it wasnt for atariage and that pesky dog... 2. He took offense where there was none. Again Pat never mentioned him by name nor did he imply he was talking about G81. People assumed based on his involvement with porting a game for the console that he had something to do with it and that was wrong, but that's also not on Pat... Watch G81's video he says that he was lied to, he never signed any paperwork, and that he pulled support for the console the day before the kickstarter (after ny toyfair). Now if i'm G81, co-owner of Collectorvision games and all of this is happening around this project that i am closely associated with, the absolute FIRST thing i would do is make a public statement on the matter, and distance myself from it at all cost to protect my company's image and my reputation. Otherwise staying silent looks 100% suspect, and i know he said he didn't want to stir shit up but as somebody directly associated with the project, and co-owner of a company working on a game for the console he or his company really should have addressed this in a video or even a press release. A quick explanation would have avoided all of this bullshit, a simple "While we were initially excited about the potential of the chameleon, it turns out the project isn't what we thought and so we are officially pulling our support for the Chameleon"... No need to be negative, no need to throw anybody under the bus, but unfortunately G81 is a nice guy, and he let his personal relationship with Mike cloud his judgement on the issue. All of the writing was on the wall, but he figured he would kind of play it neutral and see what happens, well that was clearly the wrong move. No offense to you Alpha because i like your channel but you're literally doing the same thing to Pat that you criticized him for, you are using your platform to pick sides rather than actually clear the air. John has no bad blood with Pat, a quick look at his twitter shows that he wants to move on and he even says in his video that he hopes Pat can still come down to for the expo and not let this come between them. Stop stirring shit that isn't there because you are making yourself part of the problem sending your 444k subscribers after him, and really being a monumental hypocrite in the process. I stand by both Pat and John in this matter, and firmly against Mike Kennedy and the Coleco Chameleon or whatever the hell they are calling it this week.

Ironically, this is what is feeding the very vocal minority of people who were claiming he was involved. The majority of people simply wanted him to apologize for giving Mike any airtime and to warn his fans since they were the ones being exposed to lies. This is is important so that the chameleon team can't pull this scheme again. You might wonder, "Why apologize?" Because as a businessman and KZbin celebrity what he endorses carries weight. He didn't do his due diligence, but also doubled down by getting overly defensive. All Gamester needed to do was follow the lead of everyone else involved with this guy (Mike Kennedy) and totally distance himself, instead he's become paranoid and is downplaying the whole thing while trying to simultaneously condemn it which is sending out mixed signals and adding fuel to the fire. Being overly defensive is not helping. Other parties have already gotten a pass because they didn't talk out of both sides of their head and remained calm. John doesn't seem to be able to do this and is taking things way too personally, which is attracting attention instead of remedying the situation. When you own a business, you have to be ready to cut ties with any partners if they become embroiled in something as serious as attempted fraud. Doesn't he understand that by downplaying this even slightly, he's hurting himself? He apologized, but then backpedaled and started downplaying what is essentially FRAUD because of how freaked out he is about it damaging his reputation. Had he kept quiet after properly distancing himself from the Coleco team, this would have blown over. He's so freaked out about this that he thinks Pat is attacking him. Incredible.

About Gamester81, I think a lot of it isn't so much an SJW-style lynch mob, but rather the assumption that he was in on it. It did appear at first as though he were closer to the development than perhaps he was. In many ways, G81 is a victim of Mike Kennedy's con, because he was pretty eager to sell the system. HOPEFULLY his game will still come out OK, and I'll certainly look at it if it shows up on SNES or Genesis, but I honestly hope the end result of this whole fucking episode is that everyone looks at people preying on the nostalgic and the hipster with a bit more skepticism. Many people - and yes, this includes G81 - were far too willing to cheer this thing on in the very beginning, before the AtariAge forum started poking holes in it. People need to be more skeptical of things on the internet. Notice how I said SKEPTICAL and not CYNICAL. There's another tendency in the gaming community to assume everything is horrible in gaming, when really, incidents like this are the exception far more than the rule. I really hope this whole thing doesn't damage bunnyboy's Nintendo AVS.

I assume you are no friends with Pat lol :) It was only an off the cuff unscripted part in a podcast... on a topic they had for a long time. I really don't get why people are trying to outburn eachother right now over a silly project where everybody got scammed. Wouldn't it be better to combine forces and burn Mike to the ground, and not John, Pat or whichever bystander.

I thought Pat was attacking the people who were still publicly supporting the project after the Toy Fair fiasco, which I didn't see John do. John even admitted in his video today that he pulled his game after that. However, John's video today attacking Pat at the same time saying he felt sorry for Mike and downplayed it to a mistake... rubbed me the wrong way. I know John is friends with Mile to some degree and probably doesn't see how Mike could be devious. But the 4th fake prototype to trick people into investing their money... that is more than a mere mistake... it is more in line with fraud and he is probably lucky he never received any money. And now Alpha appears to be going after Pat (without saying his name)... this is getting crazy. People need to focus on the matter at hand, and that is why no one should trust Mike and his team to be honest in the process (even if their intentions are good). No one should be attacking John or Pat. Pat was just ranting, I'm sure Alpha has said things in his rants that have caused listeners to make negative comments towards someone else, even someone he didn't mean to. When the VGS/Chameleon project finally does die off, it will be missed... it was entertaining since no-one lost money yet.

+Mike Hawk I agree, no one should be attacking John, Pat or anyone else. It is stupid to do so. However, no one should be protecting Mike and the VGS/Chameleon team. 4 or more fake prototypes, deleting legit questions from FB, and other actions (like saying Pat's commentary on the VGS issues raised by AtariAge forums was Pat/Ian being uninformed and drunk) has lost Mike all credibility. He can't throw anyone under the bus this time either. They'll come out with another iteration of this project. Maybe a Flashback console in a Jaguar shell... maybe a clock he bought off of eBay...

Christ, you beaten Jak 2 to 100% completion? No. Like I said, I can still enjoy a game of it isn't difficult. Difficulties is a great way to get me to come back to the game and engaging replay value (although 3D world had neither). That's why SMW holds up so well, I wasn't saying all NES and SNES games hold up badly, just the ones that pushed themselves a bit to far either in the graphics or gameplay department (star fox, cough, cough although the N64 version is much better).
