It depends if you’ve played the character before. If you’re first matches are losses, then you lose a lot, if you play well and then intentionally sandbag, it takes a LOT of games to lose a lot of gap.

I'll do it, I'll claim the title of PK Kevin67. I've been trying to get higher in GSP with Ness in the most scummy ways possible, so I think that name fits my "playstyle". I'm no pro with Ness, but I might get better from learning enemy tactics in Elite Smash (if I could get there).

Just about every game has so much lag that I wouldn't be surprised that more than half of the players online are playing Smash Ultimate on a toaster, and the same one, at that, not to mention that most online players are more scummy than I intended to be. I guess I could keep trying, but I honestly just want to play as King Dedede much more than Ness. Maybe I'll play a few matches as PK Kevin67, but not very often. Either way, I think someone else would fit such a name and playstyle more than I ever could.

I got cocky and began losing and now their sitting at 91K.

Nah. If he went down there with his main and went full try-hard and exploits, it would be. But being unsettled by someone beating kids in a game to show them what they have to learn, and perhaps encourage them to improve and better trounce their friends? Though maybe I'm the toxic one, cos I think that in general kids just trying to have fun, should be playing in person, playing with their friends specifically via friend codes, or playing with CPUs. If they're old enough to play online with strangers, they're old enough to handle getting beaten.

He had to consciously lower his GSP as much as possible to get matched up with these players Sure, they should expect to get beaten, but maybe not by someone who shouldnt even be matching with them. @@remicou8420 No, from my experience you lose less/gain less gsp the more games you play with a character. The only exception is when you go on a winning streak and possibly a losing streak.

According to the wiki, the real reason is because the majority of players lie in the 800k-3M range so if you are above or below this range you don't "pass by" as many players when you win or lose. TLDR mid-range ranks jump a lot more than pro-tier or low-tier ranks
