Installing the cruise control switch is the earliest part of the process, but only the cruise control light you can switch off and on with that. For the functionality you to activate the CC in the car’s computer, and to find someone who can do that is the heaviest part…..

I Just added fog lights to my 01 Corolla CE, had plastic covers over the area it would have the lights on the LE model. sure enough all the wiring is there. bought the OEM lights on amazon for $60 . went to the scrap yard got 2 upgraded turn signal / wiper functions. the one had a switch for the fog lights. got that off a 01 lexus $30, bought a relay at lordco for 12 bucks. and installed everything . i now have nice functioning fog lights with upgraded wiper / turn signal fuctions

I've just done this to our 2011 Toyota Verso. £20 and around 30 minutes job later, it's all working as intended. I have no idea why they didn't do this at the factory if all wires and ecu work been done.

highly depends on the car though especially with some older cars you gotta take apart half the dash lmao but overall most cars come with all the options just a lot of them are not plugged in if not spec'd haha

@@AlphaShark :O how can you tell? My Corolla is a super basic CE, no rpm meter, no cd player, and when I look at the wheel there's no panel to remove to install the cruise control. I'd have to rip a new wheel cover from the junkyard or cut the hole myself

The cruise on my ae86 (1986) is on the bottom left of the dash, not on the steering wheel.

I used to work at a Toyota dealership when your car was new. The LE and S models definitely had cruise control. Not sure if those had the removable panel where the cruise control stock goes but in any case you could just buy the whole steering wheel without the air bag from a junkyard. I have personally swapped the steering wheel in my Subaru WRX using a steering wheel from a newer model that still used the same airbag design, color, that was a smaller diameter and the leather wrap was in better condition than mine. The only issue I had afterwards was that I had to get an alignment to get the steering wheel on center.

I have a 2016 corolla (JDM model) that looks "more modern" than yours however on startup when all lights in the dash are lit I do not see a cruise control symbol (but so is yours). So is there a way to know whether my car has the cruise control function built in? is opening up the steering wheel and looking for that spare connector the only way to do determine?

I literally need this video, in fact i've had a dream about to have a van but it didn't have built in cruise control from it's model even in the highest trim level which royale did not exist from the manufacture. Then i look up to toyota even in 2014 alphard it had been a cruise control. So, i wondering how can i turn my dream van previously there was no cruise control, then there is. because cruise control is very useful for me, especially at speeds of 5-10 mph or >120 mph. Hi, I have installed cruise control in my 2010 Toyota Corolla CE. The button works and the cruise indicator shows on the dashboard, but when I tried it on the highway at 100 km/h, the car slows down when I remove my foot from the accelerator, even though the dashboard still shows "cruise." All the features are built in, there is no front sensor on older cars. The sensor on newer cars is for radar guided cruise control that automatically slows down for cars in front.

You’re the second to ask that, I do not know since it is not available in the U.S. market, the easiest way to tell would be able to take the front part of the steer cap off like I instruct in the video and see if you Hi-Ace has the plug.

Kudos for the video and setting me on the right course to adding cruise control very economically to my 2010 Toyota Corolla base model. Two feedback recommendations: 1) You harvested your switch component from a salvage vehicle. As an alternative, for basically the same price, I was able to purchase a new switch online. 2) A critical element in my application was removing the electrode pin from the original connector which was underneath the air bag providing the horn function. It had to be inserted in the empty port of the connector of the new cruise switch. By doing do, you keep your horn while adding cruise.
