I'm 61 years old and since you gave me the idea of going on a 8 day rotation instead of a 7 day, my lifts have improved quite noticeably. Thank you for the insights.

Great video. Looking strong as heck. Splitting wood is great and gathering it is definitely a workout. Just a small tip. If you can, wear eye pro even while splitting wood. I've had pieces fly up and stick me in the arms and stay. Also had a piece fly up and hit me in the eye which scratched my cornea. It was the most annoying week. Keep up the work sir!!

Quick disclaimer: I am not a doctor. I am trying to become one, but I’m not there yet. I do have a master’s degree in exercise physiology though. Those Zercher squats with the proximal biceps injury should be fine. I would recommend keeping the bar really close to the body throughout the movement so most of the load is on the midsection and hips. Going a bit lighter may also be beneficial, and be ready to abandon the set if you feel any strain at the site of injury. For the question of the day, I would give up dumbbells. I think you can do most things with kettlebells that you would with dumbbells and several things I think kettlebells just do better.

Even your dog looks stacked. I love your energy, you deadlift heavy as fuck and you do a lot of Zercher stuff which are all good signs in my book. I love the golden tidbits you share. Those sandbag movements are opening my mind to the possibilities of building deadlift strength. Subscribed.

I’ve been running 45 Masters’s and I’m loving it. I’ve never done a program like this so it’s a very nice change, especially coming back from an injury. I’d have to agree with you, I’d have to get rid of dumbbells.

I totally agree with you!!! If you were going to ditch something for functional strength and athleticism I would totally ditch the dumbbells!!! Kettlebells are far more versatile than dumbbells, not only can you do everything you can do with a dumbbell with a kettlebell but they can be used in vast verity of ways the I feel only aid in more movements that require explosive power as well as tendon and joint health, which is a big takeaway from them that I feel like no one really talks about.

That last move was a 'Slim the Hammerman' lift, l seen this back in the 60's. I used to be able to throw a 12 pound sledgehammer up in the air for 3 revolutions and catch it, tried 4 spins many, many times, never happened. When I caught the sledgehammer after 3 spins it would almost pull me off my feet

I would have to get rid of the KB because I only have 3 of them so it wouldn't be as noticeable. But I do see your point. When more available, I'll crush some KB's

I would give up sandbags, ummmmm cuz i don't train with sandbags. But then dumbbells, which i don't have either and don't miss. I was an early adopter of kettlebells and have a bunch of them (hardstyle) so if you got 'em, you gotta use 'em.

Swinging the 🪓 is a lot of fun for GPP. My daddy worked as a logger for years, so I grew up splitting wood. It's harder than people think if you've never done it. Some of the old timers he worked with were beast of men. Talk about functional strength..

Awesome lifting as always. Going to modify my keg press technique a little to try the way youre doing it. For the question of the day, i would give up dumbells. Love Kettlebells, have used them for years and there are many modalities you can do with them you cant with DBs and Ive never found the inverse to be true.

I personally would get rid of dumbbells. Setting up a landmine attachment can pick up a lot of the slack if you don’t have dumbbells, and I think kettlebells can actually make you a much better lifter because they require so much more stability - something I think many lifters don’t pay enough attention to! A Kettlebell Bench will absolutely help your bench much more than a Dumbbell Bench! The stability your shoulders will gain from that will translate really well over to a heavy bench attempt!

Brian can you comment on the use of a “deadlift bar” vs a basic power bar. I am 65 now so when I competed there was no such thing as a deadlift bar - what are the benefits for a strength athlete like you using it instead of a less specialty bar?

What would be your recommendation on adding weight to a keg? Just slowly add sand or lead shot? Also I would probably drop Dumbbells I can do most DB work with a KB. But I guess you could say either could be interchanged with the other.

Sandbags would be first to go. Usually when I get a workout program ruined, it is from sandbag training injuries. The transition from picking it to standing upright with it gets pretty hairy. I think it's because of my degenerative disc disease because this exercise is a lift I seem to get worse at with time concerning back injuries .

To be honest..At this point in my life I would ditch the barbell. These days I strive for functional strength the ability to be explosive and a well rounded athlete.I’m past the obsession with having big numbers with the 4 main lifts. Lifting heavy sandbags, dumbbells, and kettlebells can be very beneficial with the right programing and have great carryover to my everyday life. Plus I get bored easily and like getting creative with different implements.😂
