Alphonse! Amazing to see you on here. We all KNEW you did that to get a special performance...and it worked! We were kept on our toes and it was a a blast, true honor & pleasure. Anytime you want to hit again, I'm up for it! Everyone - be sure to check out Alphonse's album that has this tune, "Mind Transplant." Also check out his awesome work on Al Di Meola's "Land of the Midnight Sun" (w the late great Jaco Pastorius)

I was brought here because I just saw Alphonse Mouzon in a cool scene of him playing and soloing from the movie “That Thing You Do” I was lucky enough to be able to go to The Roxy on Sunset and see fusion drummers like Lenny White, Billy Cobham, , Steve Gadd, Tony Williams, Jeff Porcaro,, Peter Erskine unfortunately not Alphonse or Jack DeJohnette . Thanks for posting this video.

Alphonse Mouzon Hey Alphonse. Have you ever worked with Gary Paulson? He used to play with Zawinul Syndicate. I always thought he was an interesting player. Also, How the HECK do you play drums with high platform shoes? :-) I saw you play with 11th house when you opened up for RTF at Berkeley during their No Mystery Tour. I noticed you were playing with HUGE platform. My friends and i had a chuckle over it. Anyways, I've enjoyed your playing, I've most of your albums, I think you're great, and "You ARE, my biggest fan." I couldn't resist adding that quote. I thought you'd get a kick. :-)
@alphonsemouzon9 жыл бұрын
Yes I did get a kick out o e line you quoted from my movie with Tom Hanks called "THAT THING YOU DO. No, I've never worked with Gay Paulson. Yes, It was easy for me to play drums in High Platform Shoes and boots. I won't dare try to do that now!! Ha ha. www.tenaciousrecords.com
@Oneness1009 жыл бұрын
Alphonse Mouzon Yeah, what's even better is I could use it with someone FROM the movie and that actual scene. Was he really drunk when he said the line and was he supposed to say it or did he just make it up on the spot? And how many times did he retake that scene? Keep the old fusion alive!
@alphonsemouzon9 жыл бұрын
That line was written for him so say. The actor wasn't drunk as there was no alcohol on the movie set. I scored the music for the BLUE SPOT club scene. That was my piano playing on film that the actor was pretending to play. I had to play drums on film over my drum parts on the recording and that was hard to do when I took my drum solo. www.tenaciousrecords.com/Autographed-Drumssticks-Drumheads-Photos-Posters-CDs-Personal_Services.html

Love the style of music! It's a great sound to show some of Alex Skolnick's versatility. Shredding! Great drums! Awesome full group sound. The mix is fine. I love the pureness of it. The recurring triplet thing in the beat, with a strong use of the cymbals sounds cool. Thanks for sharing!

Very, very cool sorta context and riffs and groove and lil complimentary guitar part at the start, then the solo was nice heavy and out and distorted. I like uh you, Mr. Alex Skolnick.. have since the practice and souls days.. keep on keepin on. Unrelated, why do you think a player like Eric Clapton never desired to progress beyond the blues, or did he and Im just ignorant. ty

Tommy Stephenson I hear ya. What I found amusing is how the meanings of words have changed over the years. Back a long time, the word "blows" with conjunction to music was a good thing and now it's a bad thing.
