Honestly, The “Writing on the Wall” theory is kinda filled with bad faith directed at Alphys. It’s obvious the creator of that theory didn’t like Alphys and made her out to be a fool and a fraud. It’s disheartening.

Honestly I'm just glad we as a community have grown enough to where people are checking each other's theorycrafting logic. We used to have such a big problem with fandela effect (fan mandela effect) when it came to the basis of our theories. A lot of them assumed things about the game that had no canon basis, and when that happens it's easy for mass misinformation to spread like a wildfire. Especially with how popular the games were on youtube, many of these earlier theory channels were everywhere. So it was very easy to bias ourselves into believing something that just wasn't true about the games. I'm still trying to unlearn some of it almost a decade later, that's how bad it was. Just nice to see that now we're so much more consistent about doing our research and making sure our non-fanon theory ideas are canon-compliant.

Another note about Entry Seventeen, the one we know Gaster wrote, is that it's formatted differently from every other entry in the true lab - (ENTRY NUMBER SEVENTEEN) rather than (ENTRY NUMBER 1/2/3 etc.), Gaster is very unlikely to use two different naming conventions, further evidence he didn't write any of the True Lab entries
@occitany298210 ай бұрын
That isn't really "evidence" because Sock Muppet believes that Entry 17 is a recording (which i think is really on the money and the best part of the theory imo). And when someone is speaking in Undertale, they never use the numerical spelling (17,18,19) but always use the alphabetical spelling (seven human souls...).
@taanwallbanks984110 ай бұрын
@@occitany2982 that's fair enough, didn't really think of that. Still, the fact that entry seventeen is an audio log would imply that gaster's entry one through sixteen would be audio too, no?
@niftylittlename10 ай бұрын
Not really, gaster talks to other people during entry 17, so either someone is writing for him or gaster is writing himself, the recording is probably from the same or a similar camera thar recorded chara's death. @@taanwallbanks9841

Ah yes the (I don't hate alphys) theory video where we "theorize" the concept of alphys is a character in a story and not "its a gaster" Really wonder how hating a character to the point of wanting to take away their achievements is something Worth anyones time.

I'm going to stand with the actual cool idea in Writing on the Wall is gasters 17 being a video recording with no visuals. What do I do with this idea? No clue yet, but def something to ponder. I think it is a very good thing to put theories out here and to be bold with them, just yeah you also need to check what you put out there too.
@richietribe94879 ай бұрын
Something interesting to point out about the Toby quote that Dorked used: Toby said "Determination turns out to be Alphys' code word". By the use of the words "turns out", he A. Doesn't exclude it being used by someone else too, we canonically know Alphys used it anyway. And B. turns out is mostly used to describe something that happened on it's own. And we both know that Toby likes to play around with words. What we can conclude from this is that Toby is mearly stating the canon. He doesn't confirm, nor deny that someone else might have used the same word as well. If you need more proof, Flowey also describes it this way. So we already know the description isn't limited to Alphys alone

Unrelated, but I just realized something about sans' broken machine. It has to be the thrash machine in deltarune chapter 1. It keeps on coming back in the narrative for seemingly no reason, and it has to be building up to some big reveal later on in the story. The fact that we get to see the blueprints when we build it, the fact that sans' blueprints have the photo of 3 people you don't recognize, with the "don't forget" really locks it in for me. As far as I'm aware, sans' and the thrash machine's blueprints are the only ones that the player can visibly see. I really don't see any other option
@greyscaleadaven10 ай бұрын
This is a very cool idea, because it both ties sans in with Deltarune's world and is extremely silly which is something Toby would do to trick people trying to guess things like the phase distorter from Earthbound or some failed Gaster experiment. Not that he could have possibly known how ridiculous people would get, but I'm sure he saw at least some confusion coming. Sans implies that he struggled to go back, and I know a lot of people have guessed that this place to go back to is Deltarune.

The silliness of it is very in line with Toby's humor too
