A note from Colorado: Thanks for the interesting video. I am very impressed with this AR line with lots of foliage and nicely built structures, and lots of great workmanship showing in the steam trains. Nicely done, you lucky Aussie steam fellas!

Wow! The most beautiful garden Ry i ever seen. And, the camera angles were highly professional, track view shots, and so on. Some of those miniature (bonsai?) trees are fantastically real looking. Like those can of peas of trees along the track too. 19 out of 20 score overall! 30 out of 20 for the garden n tracks and so w the filming. Nxt time, please weather the trains n buildings. Thumbs up n subscribed.

@schutendohkji548 Glad you liked it! The owner of that line seems to like to clean his models very thoroughly (I've ribbed him about it before!) so not much chance of weathering any time soon I'm afraid. We have a number of other nice lines on this channel as well so don't forget to check them out.

Lots of Old Men reliving their childhood. WHEN CAN I JOIN IN?
@SteamInYourGarden2 ай бұрын
We have lots of fun here! Actually you can join: see ritg.org.au - it helps if you live in Australia, but if not search online for a garden railway club near you, there are plenty of us around.

Many countries are beautiful but we are very lucky in Australia. We like to make beautiful places in our gardens for others to enjoy. 💖💖💖

+i thought this was a 7 1/4 inch railway until i saw a hand reach down to a carriage...awesome scenery

Thank you, so glad you liked the video. 16mm scale is a great compromise: you can fit a railway in a suburban garden but still have real live steam, and it’s cheaper and lighter than the ride-on scales.

Damn right, it’s such a great experience when you get it right. I’ll *never* go back to track power - all that track cleaning before a run, no thanks.

Hi there, we are in Sydney, Australia (see ritg.org.au) but there are garden railway clubs all around the world …

What gauge are those locos
@SteamInYourGarden2 ай бұрын
Hi there, this railway uses 32mm gauge, also known as Gauge 0, but we use a scale of 1:19, where one foot in real life is 16mm in the model (“16mm scale”) so the modelled gauge is equivalent to 2 feet, representing narrow gauge. This allows realistic tight radius curves which fit in a suburban garden whilst being big enough to use live steam locos (these use a fuel, such as butane gas or methylated spirits or even coal to boil water and drive cylinders by steam power).
@jamesroseby38232 ай бұрын
Phenomenal! Real model steam locos in such a beautiful garden setting. In Hotham I imagine it snows in Winter too. Any snow footage? What special place you fellas have to play trains.
@SteamInYourGarden2 ай бұрын
Sorry, no snow in Sydney (where this garden railway is located) but the station names evoke a fantasy extension of the old railway that ended at Bright and heads into the Victorian High Country where snow definitely would feature.

@SteamInYourGarden2 ай бұрын
We will keep these places safe, don't worry. Many of us do not have the space - those of us, who do have them, share them with our other members and we all gather there to run our trains. Simple battery locos and rolling stock can be very cheap, live steam costs a little more but is cheaper bought as a kit. See www.roundhouse-eng.com/kits.htm
