Great video! Been through the area while camping at Davis Mountains SP, but didn’t get time to do trails there. Laughed about having to take a break on the trail, but then seeing older people doing it no problem. That happened to me on the balancing rock trail in big bend. I had to press on. 😂

This was my first time stopping by, especially after exploring the Davis Mountains, so I figured, why not? That Desk Trail hike was definitely a challenge, but I saw folks older than me making it through, so I knew I had to give it a shot. Along the way, I met some great people - two ladies visiting from Big Bend National Park and a group of fire service folks (who I unfortunately left out of the video). Next time, I’m definitely coming back to try Reata Restaurant; I’ve heard it’s one of the best spots to dine in Alpine.

We have yet to make it to Big Bend. Hope to do that one day. It's still on the list. That whole desk on the hill is very interesting. That's the kind of quirky stuff I love to see. Love checking out some murals too. Very nice overview of the town. Hadn't heard about that haunted hotel. That would be fun to stay in. Food looked pretty good. Jessie does love some chicken fried steak. Thanks for sharing.

You guys would absolutely love the whole area-Alpine, Marfa, and the Davis Mountains. I can totally picture you making tons of awesome videos there! I’m so glad I finally took the time to stop and explore the town. Sometimes, you just need to slow down and stroll through the downtown to really soak it in. The small towns in the U.S. have such a special charm. I almost stayed at that hotel-I might make it a point to stay there when I revisit. Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you and Jessie have an amazing Christmas!

We absolutely love Big Bend National Park and usually make a stop in Alpine. We’ve visited BBNP 10 times in 10 years with the last trip in early 2023. It’s time to go back! We’ll definitely have to try Cow Dog Food Truck. We’ve stayed at the Holland Hotel and eaten at Riata. We’ll have to try out Spicewood Restaurant as well. Thanks for the recommendations!

Wow, Doug, 10 times at Big Bend NP! That's amazing! What's your favorite trail in the park? Alpine was incredible-I’m so glad I finally made the stop; it’s perfect for a day trip. Any other towns you’d recommend I check out?
@doughutchison6382Ай бұрын
@@MrSTravelQuest If you haven’t visited Fort Davis there’s a lot to see there. The town is kind of cool. The McDonald Observatory, and the Fort Davis National Historic Site is really cool. Especially touring the barracks and the fort hospital to see how the soldiers lived and received medical care. There’s just so much in that area that is worth the trip. Our favorite hikes in Big Bend National Park are The Chimneys Trail where at the end of the trail and you’re among the rock “chimneys” there are petroglyphs. It’s about 5 miles in and out and fairly easy. Ward Spring Trail is nice. I can’t recall the exact distance but it’s got a lot of scenery as you’re fairly close to the Chisos Mountains. Another easy hike is Lower Burro Mesa Pouroff. Only a mile in and out but so worth it when you reach the dead end at the pouroff from the mesa above. And watching the sunsets from Sotol Vista are incredibly beautiful. Being there on really dark nights is some of the best stargazing you’ll ever experience. Merry Christmas to you and your family!

@@doughutchison6382 We've been to the Davis Mountains and recently visited The McDonald Observatory. Plan on doing a West Texas of top things to do in that area, just need to visit the Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute. Those are some great Big Bend NP hikes, i'm adding those great recommendations to my list. I want to revisit in April and explore other parts of the park. Merry Christmas Doug to you and your family!
