My name is Thamar, but you can call me Tammy. I struggle with too many mental issues, lol, but don't we all? On this channel I film most of my struggles, I'm not that open in real life though. I'm not promoting any kind of (eating) disorder, I'm just documenting my life. I'm very hapy to have you Little Lemons accompany me. Thank you SO much!

Hey Tammy, I've only just recently discovered your channel, I love your honesty and down to earth approach. I'm sorry for the struggles you are having...I relate sooo much to the way you talk about your experiences so honestly...especially in terms of how your depression affects you. I go through so much of the same. I've never really felt like I have a true ED but I definitely do not have an OFF switch when it comes to sugary foods... I can never just stop at one serving of it. So maybe I have elements of BED..I don't know. I don't tend to struggle with my weight but I certainly do with bipolar disorder...which is mainly depressive... And also a chronic illness which seriously affects the types of foods I can actually eat. I love your sense of humour, your positive messages even when you are feeling so down, and I love your beautiful cats!! Please don't be so hard on yourself...you are a great content creator and so relatable to so many people....unlike many other so called weight loss or diet channels. Keep being yourself and I know you will reach your goals, whatever they happen to be. Just please please please do not go down the mukbang route like so many others have done in order to simply garner views. You are way more entertaining and truthful and genuine than that. I really appreciate hearing someone else talk about how depression can make it soooo hard to even get out of bed and make it to the shower some days...makes me thankful to think I'm not alone in that, and its refreshing to come across someone as self aware as yourself. Keep up the good work. Love from NZ 😘😘

I hate wasting food too….but I have found that throwing away foods when I feel like I won’t be able to control myself, has led to me not buying them in the first place. In the grocery store when I am considering buying a trigger food, I now think “I am just going to throw it away”, rather than finding reasons to buy it or telling myself it will be different this time. Because for me, the only thing I hate worse than wasting food, is wasting money! Sending you good thoughts!

I feel you so hard. Just at the beginning of the video and I already wanna hug you. I've been there too. Tried so hard for months, took my metformin, my mini pill to help with testosterone - in hopes it also helps with weight loss. And yet I only lost 6,5 kilos. It went up and down all through the months, bc of water weight and constipation. I was sticking to my healthy diet change until my chronic illness was acting up and let me crash. I wasn't able to cook anymore. And frustrated to no end about my health, that I snapped and just had a cheat day after another. And I've been eating bad ever since. And yet I fluctuate between 0-3 kilo weight gain. It's ridiculous. Like, I eat healthy (I know slow metabolism after multiple Ed's, and pcos and hashimoto, it takes time, but come on!) and it feels like nothing comes off. But when I eat crap, I fluctuate the same 3 kilos up and down like nothing. It's stupid. I'm so close to giving up again. But then I found your channel yesterday. And here I am. Complaining to you about my shitty diet. But it also makes me wanna start again. So yeah. I hope we both gonna manage it this time. ❤️❤️❤️

Sweets (especially pastries and cakes) are my biggest binge triggers. I ended up cutting them completely and now I eat pudding or ice cream for dessert... as long as it is somewhat liquid and not doughy, it doesn’t trigger me ^^ .. it’s been about 2 months since I last ate pastries.

I thought I heard you say something about not really liking chicken wings or maybe they were harder for you to finish or something like that. One pattern that I am struck by is you don't eat very much protein in your regular meals. In fact they are quite carbohydrate rich. I wonder if you made your meals more protein dense if that would change something. I've had the experience of eating an apple only to feel hungry later and that's reflective of something I try to keep in mind: If I eat a meal, I should not be hungry again for many hours. If I eat something and I'm hungry up to 2 or 3 hours later, then I know there is something problematic with that food. Anyway, just some thoughts inspired by what you've been showing us. I'm glad that you have a team that you're working with. Also I am just reminded of a thought I had when watching some of your other videos: don't be so hard on yourself!

Hi Tammy! I appreciate your vulnerability in your videos 💚 you're really cool. I don't know if it's possible where you live but when I have extra junk food I don't want to eat or throw away, I put it in a bag by the dumpster outside my apartment and the homeless people always take it. That way they are fed and it doesn't go to waste

I have struggled with binging and restricting too. (I used to walk until I got a headache and I sometimes trained with on a 'total gym' machine thing until I could no longer feel my bladder). One time I think I had three or four oliebollen in a row. I also used to binge on very weird stuff afterwards to try and make myself sick (rice crackers with peanut butter coleslaw like stuff and pepper for example). Or just on things that were there like "afbakbroodjes" but I would just eat them as is, so not "baked" (''rauw'"/niet afgebakken). Now I am actually at a point where I am at a healthy weight after being almost underweight at one point. Seeing you struggle is heartbreaking on one hand but it also helps to know that other people struggle with food. Sorry for the rant, I usually don't leave comments, but you seem like a really nice person so I wanted to say something :). I'm rooting for you! On a side note, I can also relate to tulband cake not tasting as good as I remembered it to be the last time I had it :P.

Thank you Tammy for your honesty in your videos. I’ve suffered from BED since 2009 when I was vegetarian then vegan for 3 yrs. But I didn’t connect the dots ( body needing nutrition) until 2015 when I reintroduced animal foods. Best decision ever for ME. The binges got less and less so in 2016 I started tracking the amount of days I binged each year. Every year they get less and less because it’s like I’m trying to beat my all time best from year before therefore in my mind I’m winning, I ended 2021 with only 66 binge days. Such progress for me since I used to binge at least twice a week (100-120 X a year). Please never give up trying! We are all trying day by day hour by hour sometimes. By the way I love your kitties! 😻😻😻😻

Yes! Everybody would be depressed and with no energy or hope if you had to fight something ALL DAY LONG. put focus somewhere else, learn skills to cope with emotion so you dont have only this one that is not doing you any good. it wont go away if you wont have anything to replace it with - because it is probably very important to you psyche and serves some kind of purpose. you cant get rid of it by focusing and fixating on how bad it is because everybody needs a way to process emotions, but some of them are just healthier than others. this is just obsesive a behaviour not a root problem :( wish you good luck and please put your strength wn energy in things that you will actually benefit from like working things out with psychologist! not in punching yourself down and fighting with the behaviour that simply wont go away unless you find something else to serve the same purpose for example regulation emotions.

Hi Tammy, I really enjoy your channel and how open and honest you are. I’ve watched many of your videos and heard you talking about planning meals and counting calories and it seems to create some anxiety for you. But Ive also noticed you tend to binge when you miss a meal especially lunch. Just curious what resources you use to help support you with planning? I personally use some great cookbooks that have grocery list etc. And keep cooking to one day, that way when feeling hungry i just warm up a meal vs. grabbing an unhealthy option. I also do online grocery shopping that keeps me from going into the store limiting the chances of buying bad food...its too tempting sometimes. Keep up the good work, it is a mental battle and you are taking the right steps!

A thing i told myself is, i am allowed to eat. I am allowed to be hungry. I am SUPPOSED to be hungry, i am a human animal. My parents were very poor in the old country, i think that is why i have so much shame around being hungry. It is really hard to overcome that shame and really know that you are allowed to be hungry, you are allowed to eat.

Ultimately, binging is a CHOICE that you have to say "no" to. When you feel like binging DO SOMETHING ELSE! You must eat enough of the right foods at the right time otherwise your body will send out hunger signals - the more carbohydrates you eat, the more your body will want. If you binge, why have the binge food in your house? - never buy more than 1 packet/container at a time of food that you would binge on. Walk to buy your binge food. Make binging an effort, hard work and an inconvenience. Your gnocchi serve was enough for 2 serves. Make a decision to never order food for a binge (or just never order food). Never throw out food - always make your binge leftovers part of your balanced meals. Choose living life over food. Look forward, not backward - there are no issues in the future. (They become the past as soon as they happen)

@@taylorg7783 I remember standing in front of a cupboard full of food that was meant to last me a month - it lasted 2 days. I made a CHOICE not to have food freely available around me. Even today, 37 years later I do not keep much food in the house because I would eat it until it was gone. When I do eat a treat - chocolate, cake, fried chicken - I walk to and from the shop (2 hour trip) to get it. PS. I never mentioned junk food. I am still overweight eating "healthy" food. But I never gained after I made the decision not to have much food around me. To me, every day is a CHOICE, you NEVER overcome an eating disorder. You just manage it. To survive I don't keep much food around me because CHOICE is harder when food is freely available. I would not be alive today if I had not made this CHOICE before every mouthful. Congratulations on beating BED, that is more control around food that I ever have had or will have. PPS. I never said stop eating junk food.

I'm a recovering bulimic and binge eater. The Christmas/new year week is my major trigger. All my rules go out the window and if i'm staying with family i just gorge from Christmas day onwards. Every day this week ive said to myself that i'm going to go back to my healthy default, but i end up eating the leftover snacks. As soon as the crappy food is out of the house i will gain control again, but i hate that im so weak while it's right by me. We will get back on track, dont worry. Every healthy day under the belt is a success. And the unhealthy days are there to teach us about food and mental/physical health, as slowly as that may be. Just remember you are not alone, there are a lot of us out here! Take care lovely lady x

right now the most important thing keeping me from a binge is the money it cost, besides health. when i think about it, junk food, let alone binging is an excess of food not needed, if its not needed its money wasted and that is what gets me the most! not the mention the physical pain afterwards as my body processes the excess of junky ingredients :”(

4:57 i think throwing out junk foods is one of the best things you can do to prevent overeating and another binge. i also hate wasting food and money, but these days, i don't even consider throwing junk food out to be a waste. i don't think it has anything to do with you not being strong enough to do it, it's just a different way of looking at food. honestly, it feels weird the first few times, throwing out food that's 'perfectly good'.

Everything you ate looks delicious! If your binge is also triggered by hunger you get from skipping meals, maybe you could leave some boiled potatoes and eggs in your fridge for when you're not feeling like making yourself anything for lunch. Instead of an apple, you get a slice of potato with a boiled egg. My nutritionist told me to do this and it helps me a bit, maybe it could work for you?

It might help to keep a food journal and see what type of foods you eat before a major binge. I find that if I don’t eat enough satiating food and allow myself to get too hungry, that is when the cravings really kick in. Try to fill up on more protein and it will help you stay fuller longer. Keeping all that junk food is just asking for a binge, I would trash it. Better in the bin, than in your body. Good luck to you!

I wish people wouldn't feel guilty for eating a small meal. That's naturally how your body balances itself out after a big meal. It's also completely natural to skip a meal few times a week. 3 meals a day is more a food industry thing. It's also how they trap you into eating more food. If you listen to your natural hunger cues you will find you are not always hungry. I guess this is the issue with food addiction or EDs - there is so much guilt & misinformation involved it ALL goes out the window.

I have BED, but I have been able to control it (mostly) by 1) cutting out most processed foods (no bread, no crackers, no cake, no cookies, no candy - I just don't buy them), 2) eating a lot of protein (meat - it keeps you full), 3) eating the same foods EVERY SINGLE DAY, and 4) taking myself away from the eating situation (staying around other people, going for a walk, going to library to read, ANYWHERE away from temptation). If you take away food variety, eating becomes simple. If I get decision fatigue, I make bad food choices. Every single day I drink coffee with cream and monkfruit sugar, for breakfast I eat lowfat greek yogurt with strawberries and sugar free maple syrup, for lunch I eat a salad with avocado and meat (leftover steak, chicken or shrimp), for dinner I eat steak, chicken or shrimp with a side of home made sweet potato fries (air fryer) or other vegetable. It's boring as hell, but I feel AMAZING when I don't eat sugar and processed foods. Once you kick the processed foods (it takes weeks or even months sometimes), your craving for them will diminish. Your cravings won't go away completely, but they will be manageable. Good luck, sweetie!

Hey love! I’m glad that worked for you but I would suggest not giving this as advice to others. Cutting out everything you love, eating the same food everyday, and distracting yourself from food are all byproducts of an eating disorder. It’s not sustainable nor a long term solution, therefore, *most* will fail after a couple of weeks or months. It could also develop into another disordered eating.

And this is a really bad circle that i am in. It never stops and i hate it. Currently i haven’t eaten in about 2 days. Normally i would crave a little bit of food because i get hungry but now i don’t notice those signs even tough i am kinda hungry. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I also will get an operation on my throat and i am afraid that if i can’t eat a week after my operation i will completely stop eating. Because i never stopped eating for that long. Christmas is so so hard. I'm glad the holiday is over I have dangerous food I normally don't have in my house. The problem with fanta is the sodium and fake sugar if its diet or real sugar if it's not. Both tell your brain to binge I'm serious. High carb foods do it too. The best thing for us all is to rid the house of this crap that is killing us. I know its easier said than done. But we all can do this. Eat fresh and whole foods. We all have a food addiction and your resistant to throw it out is not about $$$ or waste it's about ADDICTION. be ACCOUNTABLE hon and throw that garbage in the garbage!!!

No pasta !!!! I'm Italian I know the struggle but that is no good . You wont have success with weightloss with it in your diet. Can you eat zucchini noodles or cauliflower rice?

You are so lucky to have an apartment for your own. In Switzerland is so damn expensive, most of ppl stay in shared flats... How do you make friends in the Netherlands?
