Ooooh how I loved this! I was wondering with the 35mm prints... have you ever tried making a mask, like to cover a person or object, and then spray the bleach over that and peel it off when it's dry??? I'm forever trying to think of what to do with the double prints of my 3 children doing every single little thing they ever did in life, lol. That's A LOT of photos! Thanks for the ideas!

Awesome idea. Been looking here ( Alberta, Canada ) but can't find the citra solve. Will have to try some dollar store degreaser. Tx for the idea. Dar.

Can you use acrylic paints over the pages once you use the degreaser? Great idea. Thanks

I loved this so much thank you Ms Green I really loved the way the ice burg photo morphed into clouds and then a far away look or underwater scene. wow love the versatility of paper for Art work.

I hope to get to see more of your videos and to see your final product. I saw the before and after prep work but not a finished project. The 99/$1 store is great for raw meterials I went to get those jelly window decorations from there after I saw a utube hint about melting them down to make a home made jellie plate. I have not been able to find a single one. Happy Crafting to you!
@ShannonGreen12 жыл бұрын
Yes you sure can. It actually takes the paint better since the degreaser sort of strips the glossy coating off the page.

have you tried using playing cards...the disign on the back could work with your degreaser technique?

Found it at the Dollar Tree!! I'm up at 3am soaking magazine paper and enjoying myself......coffee is brewing and Awesome is doing it's thing!! I am enjoying your videos very much. It's s odd because since I was a young child I have always collected paper of all sorts....and could really never figure out why....just didn't want to waste it all and I liked the various papers the feel, look all of it.....some even smell good!! lol Now I know the reason for my "likings" thanks so much for helping me find a way to express it all!!

Shannon Green. I did the same! BUT Citrosol on a completely different level - much, much brighter and more colourful images, with loads less green. Use drops rather than spray for a more interesting effect. Put another image on top. Press down a bit and always use in a warm place, and leave for about 20-30 minutes. I’m in London and Citrosol is expensive, but worth the occasional treat!

I watched all 3 parts, mostly. But wouldn’t ya know I ffed thru the degreaser recipe for altering paper. Help? Thanks! Really enjoy hearing about/being reminder of the techniques and materials used b4 scrapbooking was such a major industry.

The degreaser I use is called LA's Totally Awesome and you can buy it at the Dollar Tree, The 99 Cent Store, and other discount/dollar stores. It's also may favorite go-to household cleaner...good stuff!
@ShannonGreen12 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried masking them, mainly because I don't want to lose the reds and yellows. If you let the bleach sit until it's dry, you will lose all the color on the print...except for what you masked off. That could be very cool cuz then you can paint your own background. But for this batch I wanted to keep the reds and yellows and that means rinsing the bleach after just a few seconds which would narf up a mask unless you use masking fluid. Give it a shot!

forgot to say, usually the ads won't work. I do a whole magazine at a time, and put it in a ziplock bag and squoosh it a bit and leave it overnight after I have taken out the staples and the spine in the older magazines.. The older national geographics work the best and it's the only magazine that works. The pages are printed with a clay based printing ink that other magazines don't use.

Pretty sure later on you have done more extensive videos actually using Citrasolv and Nat Geo teqnique .. which I believe gives you a totally different look that is superior. And I wondered what you might feel now about the cheeper version vs. the more expensive version .. I believe both are good and totally fine for the results you get but they are pretty drastic and different results

The type of paper does make a difference. It must be heavy, glossy paper like the pages of a NatGeo. Regular glossy magazine pages are not the same...they're not as glossy or as heavy. It will work, just keep looking for the heavy glossy stuff! Non-acetone polish remover won't do much of anything, you need the acetone kind. Don't give up!

@ChristinaNelson_Xenographicx5 жыл бұрын
When you are doing this with Awesome, you’re removing the color. When you use oil based Citrasolv, you are “melting” the ink and redistributing it without wiping.
