This ending could have been too sweet from some people, but taking into account how bad were the rest of the movies who tried to do a "realistc, dark, deep, complex" ending like t3, t4, t5 and t6. Yeah as Patric H Wellmes said: Is better having a good sequel rather a problematic trilogy. This ending Is the best, no need for more. In my head canon John Is married with one of those red hair girl (the ones who the t1000 asked about John). Also his mullet ginger friend Is still his beat friend. John Is also close friend with the childs of Dyson because they shared the same Fate of his father being killed by the machine war. The kids of Dyson followed his father step and worked ok Cyberdine and created a good version of Skynet so Humanitie and Machinnes are in peace. John could figure out what Is the Man who served as model for the T800. But most important John Is working at the senate with the help of his friend a Young talented man called Kyle Reese.

@Jan It's neither 1997 when this scene was shot nor in the future it's supposed to take place in. It was shot in 1991. When Grace arrives, instead of taking the girl's clothes, she takes the guy's clothes, making him look stupid. Because for her butchy character, women's clothes are a huge NO-NO. They masculinized Sarah Connor who was strong and feminine in T-1 and T-2. Because Feminity and strength doesnt go hand to hand in feminists minds. Then the killing of John Connor, who ALWAYS was depicted as the legendary Leader of the resistance, to replace him with a Latina Woman (because God forbid choosing a white girl, coz you know, diversity, and also another guy had to die, just because...) and the replacement of Skynet by Legion... This is a nice scene, but they made the right call leaving it more open-ended in the theatrical release, it allowed everyone to decide for themselves, or debate with each other whether they'd actually changed the future or not. Also, PS: This scene is supposed to be set in 2027... 4 years from now. Linda Hamilton has aged MUCH more gracefully than they imagined!

Also, there's no way that she'd be in DC sitting and watching her granddaughter play. She was the sole surviving adult that was involved in the attack on a company that caused millions in damage and left several police officers wounded after a violent escape from a state psychiatric facility, all for a cause that she could never prove because any exculpatory evidence was destroyed. She'd still have to spend the rest of her life living in exile in a country with no extradition treaty with the US or face life in prison.

@wtcvidman10 ай бұрын
A bullshit line that contradicts all the rules of time travel set in T1 and an inevitable future that T1 laid out and the biggest mistake they did in T2, yet so many fans who don't know better buy it up as if it's gold. It's bullshit in every way (Kyle never told it to Sarah as John in T2 said and if it was true then John would've had a different father in a timeline that would've passed prior to the time travel where he sent Kyle back to 1984 but that didn't happen). The future in the series was always written (we didn't need a shitty 3rd film to remind that to us). It was not a mistake how they ended up in the Cyberdyne factory at the end of T1. That was always destined to happen. It happened in the 2020's that Kyle was from before he ever time traveled because there was always a Kyle Reese in 1984 to have gone back to protect Sarah and ultimately lead the terminator to that factory. Instead of getting the shitty 3rd film we got, what we truly deserved was a 3rd film that brought things full circle & ending with Kyle time traveling back to 1984 to close the loop after Skynet was blown to hell. Another interesting thing they could've done in the version of T3 we deserved is to have Arnold play a human character who is a high ranking officer in John's resistance force that the machines would've captured and cloned much like Solid Snake in the Metal Gear series. I always thought they should've shown a reason why so many terminators had Arnold's form and explaining it as the machines cloning a genetically superior human (i.e. the character Arnold would play) would've cleared that up and perhaps even made him infamous and taint his reputation (to perhaps make John not trust him when it came time to pick who would be in the upper ranks of his resistance) as a result of the evil terminator's actions in 1984. It would've been amazing & very badass if Terminator and Predator were owned by the same group so that the person cloned and used as a mold for so many terminators could be Dutch, though that would probably not make sense since Dutch was from 1987, not the 2020s. To make it work, it would require him being frozen in some stasis like state where he didn't age, but since Dutch was a different franchise anyway, might as well have made it a Terminator-specific character.

With respect, you need to see more "old" movies. I'm assuming you mean films from the 70's, 80's and 90's, the vast majority of which portray the future as DYStopic, with GRIM futures. And even the very few "utopian" examples during those three decades turn out to be run by corrupt, fascist lunatics or governments. The *majority* of science fiction films have portrayed dystopic futures, unless you're talking about sci-fi from the 50's and 60's, which was more positive. From the 70's onward, sci-fi has been mostly dystopic and showing nightmare futures. In fact, the only *positive* sci-fi future world I can think of after the 50's would be "Star Trek" and even that involves war and conflict. The only reason *THIS* scene is "positive" is because she stopped the nightmare future that was already coming - and it was deleted from the film.

The opening title crawl shows the playground on fire, and of course the amazingly horrifying atomic blast dream sequence. I think the people that need to assimilate that sentence are the billionaires that scrape every cent out of their workers without caring if they have a proper life or not. That creates desperate people that have nothing to lose and do all kinds of bad things. Either that or they just end up living in the streets and then are treated like trash. World leaders have some power, but compared to the power of money they are just a bunch of spineless pawns.

Wonderful ending. I got to say I love it more that the official one. It is so simple, but so profound and subtile. @wtcvidman10 ай бұрын
No, the ending we deserved was a 3rd movie set in the future war against the machines that ended with Kyle traveling to 1984, thus bringing the series full circle, along with a 2nd film that didn't shit all over the time travel rules laid out in the first film. There was no changing the future, yet they just decided to ditch that rule because it was inconvenient for what they wanted to end T2 with. The whole "No fate but what we make" is bullshit. Kyle never said that to Sarah. The only time we ever hear that in T1 is in a non-canon deleted scene and Sarah is the one saying it, not Kyle and it makes no sense for someone like her to have said it when she doesn't understand things from the future point of view. That's why they left it out of T1----because it didn't fit her character nor did it fit the predestiny style time travel they were doing where the future is unavoidable. Despite everything they did in T1, they ended up leading the Terminator to the Cyberdyne factory where remnants of the terminator from T1 were obtained by Cyberdyne. There was a non-canon deleted scene showing the processor being found by a Cyberdyne manager, but T2 stuck with that as well, so we saw early on in T2 how they only sped up the inevitable by their actions in T1. Even if you ignore that though and only consider the scenes we got in the theatrical version, when you watch the ending of T1 when the gas station guy tells Sarah that there's a storm coming, she replies "I know" meaning not the weather but the nuclear storm that is the war started by the machines and the movie ends on that doomed future note. T2 should've done the same thing but instead chose to retcon and break the very rules they laid out, which is a prime example of bad writing.

It's a tough call. I think T2 is probably the superior film, but it does drag a little in the second act when they go out the city in the desert part.
