ABOUT ALTERNATE
Alternate is a character driven sci-fi set in the world where alternative realities collide. Most important theme of the movie is fear. Fear is the main driving force behind all character’s decisions. Whether its fear of unknown creatures that are entering our world, beings beyond our imagination or fear of losing loved ones.
Heart of the movie is reflection on Ellys emotions while going through her lose. After she lose her father, her sister is everything she has. All she wants to do is to protect her. She lives in fear, not enjoying moments that are given to her. That fear eventually leads her to negative ending.
Eventually, everyone will lose someone loved. That’s part of life. Elly at the end realizes, that it’s important to enjoy every single moment of life, show love and not to spent life in fear.

VERY good story. GREAT transition from a scene of emotional devastation back to the cutaway scene with the 'alien?' I didn't even notice that it was a cutaway until you came back to it. Wonderful narration. I'd love to see more! Frankly, the story telling was superior to a lot of multi-million $$ projects. KUDOS!!!!!

Incredible! Double-check spelling on the intro (you almost lost my interest there, to be honest; I'm glad I stayed with it). As has been said already, C4 doesn't explode by being shot, or being dropped, but the story, the acting, the music, sound effects and narration definitely rocked. I am, officially, a fan. Now that right there is a stellar short film. Hands down one of the best I've seen, not only this year, but just overall throughout the ones I've watched. And trust me when I say that I've seen A LOT of short films. I'm putting this in my top 10 list of awesome short films I have seen to date. Excellent job and keep up the good work. Tu sa ukazuje, ze ak je vola je aj cesta. Ze sa da spravit aj na slovenske pomery kvalitny film a nie tie paskvily a hlupe romanticke komedie podla knih nadcenovanej evity, ci kto to je. Toto je 100x lepsie a ktomu, ze menej penazi. Je treba takychto ludi aby nakrutili nieco co je ozaj pozeratelne a ako vidim, aj herecke talenty u nas existuju okrem tych par velkych mien. Tu je pes zakopany aj stymi serialmi, na jedno kopito vsetko skoro drama za dramov. A nechapem ako niekto dokaze byt nadseny stych hluposti. Nedokazem to pozerat. Neviem kto to pise a reziruje, ale nie je to velky talent, inak by to bolo a malo emociu ako srsi stohto kratekeho filmu. Ty mas VIAC talentu v malicku ako ty co robia v TV a FIlme v sucastnosti v celej svojej kariere. Ako hovorim vzdy s talentom sa narodit treba a nie naucit. Ked je clovek vyuceny nieco robit, odvedie slusnu pracu, ale nebude to nic vynimocne, ked je clovek rodeny ktomu aby nieco robil, vysledok akokolvek kratky je i bez roznych CGI a co ja viem (vsetko na minime), ten vysledok je lepsi. Slovensko potrebuje vo filmovej tvorbe viac rodenych telentov ako ty. Pokracuj nevzdavaj sa a dufam, ze raz niekto zafinancuje nejaky celovecerny film, nieco podobneho tematu a atmosfery ako toto a ako vidim, ci slovak ci cudzinec, kazdy toto miluje.

Agree 100%, some VFX doesnt hold up. Right now Im just happy that I was able to finish 100+ vfx shots by myself. But leason learned here!! Probably because the narrator has quite a thick accent. Not everyone will be able to understand it so some people probably stop watching near the start, and just hit dislike. I thought it was a great movie personally. But just my guess about the dislikes. It's "language barrier", or more precisely "accent barrier".

This is a fantastic short. The way it is narrated it feels like a trailer for a much bigger movie. To me it feels like The W.D. meets War of the Worlds. I'm still trying to figure out if the main character is just imagining this possible reality when she meets that being on the street. OR if she's transported back by the beings in the air ship after the events we see transpire? Either way it was quite entertaining. Good work.

It's easy to carp about details. Those do detract from the overall impression and H P Lovecrafts' message: careful or not, there's a huge world out there which looks terrifying but just might be alright.

The message is beautifully crafted and narrated, brought to us with a minimalist interpretive style performed by the actors to perfection. The animation is reminiscent of scenes from Annihilation (2018), but the low-budget nature of the affected creations herein suggests otherwise. Looking forward to more from this production studio.

That was unexpectedly easy to watch. Yes, the animations are quite crude but that is obviously a matter of sufficient funding. Also, there are minor missteps in the English grammar but nothing too annoying. Overall, for what I assume is a "homemade" movie, it is actually excellent! You are showing a real talent as much as I can judge!

I found the use of English as a second language to be very impressive. Obviously they are not English speaking people but in the context of the story they are making a recording for mankind, reflections on how life has changed and how the things we thought were important all vanished with the realization that we are not the center of the universe... and English is the universal language at the present time, so it was appropriate. I think the school girl English skill level adds a deeper dimension. Also of course in terms of number of viewers it helps that it's in English as English speaking people are generally not into subtitles.

@@adrianadamec on the contrary any mistakes in grammar were not distracting at all, and as I mentioned I feel it added authenticity as the film is not set in England or America. It's better than having someone doing a bad fake accent. Personally I think it is expecting too much for everyone to use perfect grammar especially since native speakers often make mistakes
