Thank you. I don't know why it's taken me this long into my knitting journey to get this. I've tried Italian cast on but find it hard to reliably get the first row without twisting, and alternating cable cast on is fussy to work and limited in the stitch combinations that are allowed.

Hi, thank you so much for making this video. It was clear and very helpful. I am knitting a scarf for my mum with the Double Moss pattern, and using this cast on method, I knitted 26 cast on stitches with KKPP etc. And then continued the second row with KKPP, for the third switched to PPKK, the fourth again with PPKK, and went back to KKPP for the fifth row. (I hope that was clear - a simple four-row repeating pattern of alternating knits and purls that I made sound more complicated than it is. I apologise) I have now done one hundred rows and have almost finished my yarn so will be joining another ball (if you have any recommendations for a method that will look seamless without using a tapestry needle, please let me know) but I realised I do not know how to cast off when I finish. Since I used your method, can you please tell me which cast off method is the one that suits my scarf - the pattern and the cast on? I would like the cast off to be symmetrical to the cast on. I am aware that (please correct me if I'm wrong) the normal cast on doesn't count as a row, but the long-tail cast on *does* count as a row, which is why I counted your method as the first row of my pattern, but the cast off *doesn't* count as a row? Or does it? So should I finish my four-row pattern and then cast off normally- or in pattern? Or do KKPP KKPP PPKK and leave the fourth PPKK for the cast off row? Please help me (if you can). Is there any way to do a cast off that counts as a row and still alternate, just as you did with the cast on? I hope you still check comments and that you are healthy and happy.
