Can you fix socialising problems with autistic children? Why are autistic children so difficult? THIS is what we’re talking about today. In this video I’ll begin by validating and outlining the problems with autistic children, or in other words, the reasons why autistic children are more difficult to care for than neurotypical children. And in the second part of this video I go through solutions to make parenting autistic children a little bit easier.
I go through my favourite tips and solutions for fixing things like socialising with autistic children (I have the BEST tip for this, please try it!), improving food aversions and emotional regulation, and other long term solutions like gentle parenting and family structures that can improve your family life for you and your autistic child.
I think this is so important to talk about, because if we validate frustrated and overwhelmed parents that are trying super hard, plus share some practical solutions, we cover the whole basis. It is important to validate the struggles of the parents as well as the struggles of autistic children. So in this video, we’ll do just that!
I hope you find this video helpful! If you have any questions or looking for clarifications on anything I said, please comment below and I’l make sure to prioritise this video since this is truly important to me!

I'm a public school teacher, and my son has been homeschooled for the last 5 years. In public school, he was learning to hate himself, depressed, and was ostracized and bullied because he's gifted/neuro-divergent. Within weeks of starting homeschool, he was back to my happy, thriving boy.

Yep. Most teachers I know are home schooling their kids. Schools are oppressive and tbh most subjects are made up BS anyways . Give them the tools and let them lead the way

_‘..that's not a fulfilling life for a human.’_ -I ❤ that! Couple of years back, I'd made a ‘math club’ for kids, in which we tried to solve puzzles.. who told the truth, who lied, _whodonnit_ kind of things.. and how to go about solving them. Unbeknownst to them I went straight into algebraic logic.. but kids loved that! They even made their own puzzles-now, _that_ was fulfilling. At least for me. 👍

I begges to be homeschooled for as long as I can remember. And my mom doesn't remember that, but when I brought it up she said she knew why they wouldn't have taken me out of school. They said we needed to socialize, and she also admits that that didn't work out so well either.

Schools tell you to sit down, shut up, get no rest and suffer bullying from kids and staff. Sounds anti- social to me

Oh that sounds like you didn’t get what you need ❤️ I think socializing outside of school is much more natural

I also hated school every single day. I started in the middle of the year cos i was too young at the start, so i was 4years 9mnths and started in April instead of January, like the other kids. Big mistake mum 😢 i didn't know what was happening. Mum left me at this place with other kids who all stared at me when i walked in the classroom. I had my first panic attack. Adrenalin rush, cold shakes, sweating, i started to cry, i had no idea what was going on, why did mum leave me here? At the end of the day, i didn't know what to do so i just walked home. I knew where my house was cos we walked everywhere in our neighborhood. Anyway, i always had bad sleeping issues as well. It took forever to fall asleep, and when i was asleep id dream these dreams of running around. People chasing me up stairwells, down corridors, the emergency exit stairs of buildings, these dreams would go on all night, when i woke up, i was exhausted. I literally needed another 8 hrs sleep to recover from my dream life. I also had many spooky, scary dreams and experiences like sleep paralysis, lucid dreams and a kind of astral projection. I used to call it imagination games, i wld come home from school, lay down on our couch and relax and try and get to that place just before you fall asleep, you are still lucid and if you get used to it and you're a kid and you dont really understand what it is you are doing, i found i could float out our front door, fly down the street and look around the park, go over the beach and just buzz around. Funny, i just thought it was my imagination but as i got older, much older, i looked back and remembered when i did this. Anyway, this having no sleep for 15years, did take its toll. I hated waking up every single morning, i didn't concentrate well and my studies suffered. I knew i was an a grade student but had to settle mostly for bs and cs cos my brain was fried. So if your kid is struggling, do something, anything, but address the issue.

Almost 60 and just recently figured out I'm on the spectrum and it all makes sense now. I despised school! I hated everything about it I didn't like the crowds I didn't like people touching me I didn't understand why they felt they needed to.. I never like to hang out with the girls cuz they sat there and talked about things all the time I was up a tree with frogs in my pocket I didn't fit in I was a weirdo. I was okay with it mind you I actually didn't mind being the weirdo because it didn't want to be one of them but it still affects you the rest of your life. I never could have been homeschooled because my mother was never able to understand my brain or how I learned she was very creative She was a walking dictionary and couldn't do basic math I was polar opposite couldn't spell anything didn't understand why spelling didn't have set rules and stick to them (I do now based on our language being such a mishmash of others) and math and science makes sense. How I wish they had some of the systems they have now it would have been very helpful. ❤

Yup. I hated school, and school hated me back. Back in the day there was no such thing as autism or adhd for girls. I didn't get an education. I got stress and severe PTSD. Thanks, school. Good riddence. Now my son is diagnosed, but still forced into mainstream school. He wants to try it. I will allow it. But if he finds it hell or I see he is not thriving/learning/happy, I'm home schooling. School shouldn't be a place to suffer.
