Alternator replacement Hyundai Kia 2.0 2.4 Sonata, Santa Fe, optima, and Forte!!!

I did it on a 2010 4cyclinder Hyundai Santa Fe. Same stuff EXCEPT the bottom bolt of the altunator comes out ok but the top bolt is blocked by the frame. You need to take the plastic undertray off. Then take a jack and place it under the AC mounting(NOT the oil pan). Slowly raise the engine and it will clear the frame. Then the alt slides off. Slide it off top first.

With the 2011 santa fe the firewall is in the way of the top bolt and you have to losen the motor mount and lift the engine 😮

I wish you all showed the top angle of removing the shroud. I could not get it out. The plastic clips were hitting the radiator. Could not push the shroud far enough forward to wiggle it out because it was hitting the manifold. I took manifold out to make space :/

Same clips are hitting my radiator inlet and outlet connections 😞

Got it out now i cant put the alternator back in lol. Its like if the two little hold for the top bolt were too thick and not sliding back inside the bracket.😂😂😭😭😭😭

You gotta muscle it in. The OE will have better fitment while the aftermarket ones are tight. I had the core support (basically radiator, condensor, fan) out of my way to do other work and still had a tough time getting OEA alternator in. Tooks a couple of smacks with rubber mallet to get in started then I got upper bolt threaded in some to allow me to pry alternator down to get lower bolt threaded.

I agree, I could get the same experience looking at my car from the cabin. He just says stuff but with out showing anything. And cuts out much of the progress to say just do this.

They did this deliberately so the dealer could charge you more labor
