The distance between rows of pins should've been 300 mils. The dimension you used from the datasheet (250 mils) was the width of the plastic body of the DIP8 package, and the pins extend a little beyond the plastic body to land on the standard 300 mil spacing for DIP8.

Thank you for this. Unfortunately not all versions of Altium start up with the same set of panels. For example at 1 minute 13 seconds you say "So to get started on making your LM555 timer and the library for the IC we are going to go to the PCB Library and as you can see Altium designer already has made a first componet for you" Unfortunately in Altium 13.3.4 (Build 28608) the panel bar at the bottom of the projects panel is not displayed and hence it becomes very difficult to find the PCB Library panel. After a fair amount of googling I found that you could access the PCB library panel by clicking View/Workspace Panels/PCB/PCBLibrary These are things that are also not present in the official Altium notes and which make it very difficult for a newcomer to PCB design to get started with this package. At least your videos are much better that what Altium officially provides.

That was extremely helpful! I bumped into the matter and nothing could be more satisfying than finding a solution to it immediately. The problem might be trivial but your efforts in searching the answers for helping others like me worth the praise! Thank you!

Hello, I took the easy way of making a relay for the pcb just adding pads in the right place, is there some way I could have all the pads move together instead of holding the shift key and pressing them individually then the control key to me them all?
@gale.p.55818 жыл бұрын
So you just chose pads to be 250 mils apart on Y axis since there is such a small difference between body width and pin width?

what version of Altium are you using?

Is this just the layout of the 555 timer? Where is the actual integrated circuit components located?

Hey I also noticed that on your data sheet at the distance 0.1 mills you wrote 100 mils instead. Why did you do that?
@RambozoClown10 жыл бұрын
The datasheet is .1 inches which = 100 mils. 1 mil equals .001 inches.

Rambozo Clown EDIT : My bad you are right. Just got confused with mils and mm lol

Fine tutorial, but on 5.05 it start delay and wheel loading continue to turn about 3 - 5 min (i think). So, may be need to compress it so i think is the reason that such good film likes so few users.

i don't think 250 mil is the right calculation. Can you verify that again? because i see 6,6 and 6,1 mil on the right side of 0.26 and 0.24 inches
@cameronsmith59685 жыл бұрын
mil isn't the same as mm (often called mill). 1inch = 1000mil, that's why 0.25" = 250mil. The spacing is still wrong though. You can see on the data sheet that the pin spacing is actually 300mil. 250mil is the width of the IC without pins.
