Great video! Whilst I know some of this was in the off season, I visited back in Summer '04 and even then remember the park feeling VERY tired. With several flats SBNO, the park just felt a bit dead and lifeless. It was the first time I got to ride Nemmy too, and considering it was it's 10th season, I recall the ride seeming pretty run down.

I’m only 15 teen years old and I love seeing all the old stuff that I never got to ride and love seeing Spinball Wizzer been built because I grew up with that ride and along side thirteen . Child hood classic still love them to this day but my favourite is smiler and nemesis

@@kiphakes yes and seeing corkscrew were thirteen is and that flat ride that is we’re nemesis subtera is but the ride that I’m most sad that I didn’t get to ride is submission

This is really cool to see. Being poor and living in Essex, I didn't get to go to Alton Towers until my late teens when I had money and friends with a car. I think my first visit was 2010.. maybe late 2009.. so I completely missed Black Hole, Corkscrew and some of the flats on here. Like a different park !

Fun fact: blade has been there since the park opened in 1980 it just got rethemed and move around a bunch of times

Great video! It makes me realize how much Galactica needs a fresh coat of paint. Also a bit depressing that they tried free Fastrack and eventually opted for the awful paid system.

I think they’d recently been filming on the ride and it was a camera rig - obviously back then broadcast quality cameras were a lot bigger.

Very nostalgic. I think the last time I was there was summer 2004 or 2005. Not a fan of rollercoasters generally, I like log flumes and rapids, but loved Air. The upscaling is really good too! Technology eh

Tbh i wish ug land was still there. Th13teen could have been easily themed in or even moved elsewhere in the park. Ug land looked rlly good and its a shame rlly that it got taken out as you look at what was there compared to now and its just very upsetting to see

Yeah.. they removed it when the Galactica portal was installed, because people were wearing headsets and they covered most of your face!

Why were the rides open in january

They had a special event for Nemesis’s birthday, and because it was broken, they opened more rides.. then the February footage was a half term thing

Its so werid seeing oblivion with "don't look down" before the drop that's the first time I heard it! I forgot dyamno was in forbidden valley! I never rode it unfortunately but it fitted in with forbidden valley!

20 year celebration? I think you can shoot the exact same shots that you shot there and see how much this place has changed! If there are anything you can't get to anymore, you cab just ignore it

Am i the only one who wishes that corkscrew got a full re track? I mean look at python in efteling. They completely re tracked that. Merlin are so stupid and i hate what they have done to our beautiful alton towers 😔

Same! What doesn’t help is the lack of ride maintenance, I haven’t seen smilers indoor projections for weeks now!
