As a never jw, I've stuck around on xjw yt for a long time now. Like you discussed with a couple of the callers, even though it's not my experience, it's been really big for helping me understand my own upbringing as well as the world and people in general. Ex-mormon and anti-mlm content is big for me to. Any kind of scam or high control group, really, but these examples have so much good material, so I can get really deep into it.

It's great that ex-jw content is helping you make sense of your upbringing too. I think it was ex-mormon content that made me realise how controlling my JW upbringing truly was, which led me to ex-jw content, and now I'm out of it completely!

I really enjoy these call in shows ur doing, especially this weeks with Jenny. She was an active listener and really connected with your callers in those moments where I started kinda checking out. Especially that last caller, I started getting a little nervous, but it turned out pretty interesting once I started understanding her perspective. Y'all did well together! Great job! I think I most resonate with being Pomi. Which is the worst and is a swear word basically but something that I constantly recall to self is that free will is not a matter of life and death. I often think of the phrase “it’s not like you have a gun to your head”. That means that you’re allowed to make a choice because your life is NOT on the line. However, the witnesses belief that I sadly still hold is that if you’re not a JW when Armageddon comes you’re gonna die. BUT you have the freedom to choose. That’s an oxymoron!

Jay!!!!!!! 🎉 Love hearing him over here. 😁 About Christmas….YES…..it is very commercialized BUT Christmas is what YOU make of it. Christmas is what YOU choose it to be. For me it’s about the warm and fuzzy feeling you get with spending your time drinking hot cocoa and watching Christmas movies with the ones you love. Sharing memories at Christmas parties. It’s all about making memories and the Christmas Spirit. So you don’t have to contribute to the big biz commercialized side of it if you don’t want to. Nor does it have to be ANYTHING about religion. Jesus isn’t the reason for the season for me. It’s the love and memories. Oh and all the lights and the magic that you feel experiencing the Christmas light displays. Hope everyone here had a lovely Christmas and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

POMI since mid 2021. I still believe in God. I dont 100% know who he is but i dont think we are supposed to know everything right now and unlike the JWs it means we can get off the high horse and not judge others who disagree but are doing there best. Only attended Memorials and maybe one meeting a year in person up until September 2024. Mostly just had resentments at some of the stupid self righteousness hypocritical culture and dumb unbiblical doctrines like beards soor knocking etc but finally started allowing myself to do actual research after catching myself telling my sister that the Org themselves say the WT is NOT inspired by God, and the Governing Body is NOT inspired by God. Only the Bible is inspired by God. So why listen to them? She ofc flipped her lid but couldnt deny it because it was their own materials or people that said it. She accused me of looking at apostate materials but i wasnt and had never looked yet so i have no idea where i got that the GB isnt inspired. (Id love a source because all i hear lately is from Geoffrey Jackson on the ARC referenced) While still reading the Bible it clicked that God was leading me out of this organization and teaching me the WT does not have his Spirit. The Governing Body is not my mediator. All that bible training and sadly i cant think of anyone in my forty years in who is actually a good person. many times i caught myself thinking i cannot spend an eternity with these vapid crazy self-righteous people.
