Incredible work Jake, I’m sure there was a lot of time put in. It’s appreciated. If your an active witness reading this comment and watching this video. ‘Do research, stop just listening to people telling you what’s true and find out on your own’ that includes Jake and any other “apostates”. Most of us “apostates” just want people to do their own critical thinking. That’s it. Truth doesn’t shy away from research 🧐

I recently watched the Netflix documentary about Heaven's Gate, and the one part that I found particularly haunting was a video of the group talking amongst themselves after publicly answering questions about their beliefs at a University campus. It was like their version of service. In the video, they talk about how stubborn and close minded so many of the questioners seemed and how said it was that they would never have their eyes opened to "the truth." It was like countless conversations I had with a car group during service. It struck me just how much of a cult this organization is, and this video perfectly demonstrates the effects of their mind control on active members.

Great video Jake. I'm glad you've addressed this Nov 2022 wt article. It really cemented the symbiosis of "Jehovah" and "his organisation." It was encouraging to me that the writers mentioned criticism of the disfellowshipping and shunning arrangement. That tells me two things: jws are unhappy with it, and the GB has no intention of changing it. So I will keep protesting against it. Have you read about the sexual abuse case in Australia? The response of the wife of the accused man demonstrates wt programming perfectly. She immediately accused victims of being former members, apostates, with an axe to grind against the organisation. This is despite what appears to be a mountain of evidence against the man, including an audio recording of him admitting to videoing his abuse of victims. I'm so glad the media reported her statements so the public can see for themselves how JWs are trained to think, or more appropriately, not think.

Standing ovation. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 seriously, so Well done. I started to wake up when I started to go on a healing journey, if you will, from codependency, narcissistic abuse, etc. i learned identifying the tactics of psychological abuse, is the first true step in healing. When I started studying the emotional abuse glossary and actually learning all the terms and definitions for this kind of confusing behavior, it helped tremendously get my head straight. And then, I started seeing it everywhere in the organization…withholding, information control, blameshifting, invalidation, etc., etc., are all under the big umbrella of gaslighting. Which is the most insidious type of lie there is. You did an INCREDIBLE job highlighting the nuisances of gaslighting in this particular article. Unraveling all the lies within the lies within the guise of a lie is not easy to do. Which is one of the reasons most witnesses don’t see it. That, and the whole indoctrination thing. Do you ever think you’d break apart an article such as this one, and teach your viewers about the terminology and usages of all these branches of gaslighting contained in literally every single article, by identifying them and pointing them out by name?

Wow, I watched this and then watched it again just to let these arguments sink in. This is a well thought-out piece with actual critical thinking applied. Just as a well-known former president often said, "Many people have told me" without providing any proof of it, there are so many statements made by the writers of Watchtower literature that take the same approach. Make a vague statement about something without providing any proof or examples, and the faithful will believe it without question. The exact opposite of critical thinking. And yes, I was one of them for most of my life, unfortunately.

This same argument is what I always think, how would a JW react if you told them “hey, I’m studying with this group (not JW, any other group) and I have learnt that if I get an instruction, I should always follow it. Even if, and this was mentioned specifically,it does not make sense”? Or any of the other things JW say about themselves? Yes, this group I am studying with has said many things would happen, that never did. But that’s ok, because 1) the light gets brighter, and 2) if it didn’t happen that actually means it did happen, but spiritually. If you wouldn’t think this is appropriate from any other religion or group, why would you think it is ok from JW?

I have experienced first hand having JW refuse to even listen to something that is at all negative about the organization or the men taking the lead. I know I used to do the same thing because of articles like the one reviewed here, but I began to be aware of it and that helped me to be open to listening to what people were telling me they had experienced. This type of article really causes people to shut out anything that they fear might lead them to question the organization. For example I have told JW about my own experiences and some of them have been quick to shut me down and not believe me, or they try to use all kinds of mental gymnastics to excuse the bad behavior that I am trying to let them know about. I know it is done out of fear, but it is hurtful when they do it, It implies that they think I am lying, and that is exactly how people who abuse get away with it because others around shut out even the possibility that it could be happening. Opening up ones mind to hear what others are saying and then finding out for ourselves what the facts are is so important.

I do think David Splane is by far the one with most twisted logic. Everything he said sounds logical on the surface or without much thought, but everything he said simply can’t face criticism and fall apart very quickly if you use logic. @jgallagher86332 жыл бұрын
If you don’t want to keep studying then you need to firmly let them know. You could prepare something brief to say, maybe along the lines of the religion not aligning with your personal values, beliefs and goals. Let them know that you are happy to email them examples with links if they want further information, eg. ARC, defunding in Norway, 607 BCE, UN NGO and this video. For the last year you have enabled the person you are studying with to participate in the preaching work and submit hours while in person witnessing couldn’t be done - you have done them a favour! Also, if they are like the old timers in my previous congregations, if you aren’t interested they will cut you dead and move on because they don’t want to waste their time if they aren’t going to convert you. Good luck and I am glad you are escaping before you get in any further.

I watched your judicial committee meeting about your apostasy you made about a year ago. I thought your reasoning was clear and understandable. The elders follow a specific protocol in their secret manual called “Shepherd the Flock of God” on how to handle any type of case before them. That means the elders are controlled by the governing body of Jehovah’s Witnesses which they said in a Watchtower study article that they are imperfect men and they can make mistakes in doctrine and organizational procedures. One of these members of the governing body said in a broadcast that they are imperfect men just ‘rove-ring’ about looking for truth. So, it’s all a guessing game when it comes to ‘new light’ and previous ‘new light’ becomes unacceptable ‘old light.’ A perfect example of this so called strategy is the 1975 debacle, the 1914 generation will not pass away which was changed to ‘overlapping generation’ because that 1914 generation are all dead. If you really examine the first century Christians they were either followers of Paul or Peter who mainly focused his ministry on the Jews and Paul focused his ministry on gentiles. There were disputes over doctrines, circumcising gentiles, and even false Christians teaching a different gospel. So, what’s wrong with using critical thinking skills to examine one’s belief system to see if your structured organized belief system controlled by imperfect men who said they make mistakes in doctrine and organizational procedures. If a person doesn’t use critical thinking to examine all things than that belief system becomes a cult with everyone controlled by circular reasoning controlled by imperfect men who just makes claims about what is truth or ‘new light.’

"Unbelieving relatives..[etc] may ridicule us..." Then they go on to give a couple of softball questions and legitimate concerns about the beliefs/practices. I'm sorry. Where was the ridicule? This is another of their tricks. Members are constantly conditioned to take all of this on as their actual identity and to take it as a personal attack when someone points out any of the myriad of problems with the organization. This just activates the well-ingrained persecution complex and they get to shut down and ignore or dismiss any of the actual points. I know video would be like 4 hours long if you stopped and pointed out every single fallacy, deflection, and thought-stopping technique, but damn. There is like something to pick apart with every word in this article. I mean seriously. "I like you as a person, but your religion is..." Way to ridicule these poor people!/s

I love you Jake and appreciate your work very much, but I just want to say, is it really unjust to put Jehovah Witnesses in jail or is it the most just thing a person could do, they are spreading a religion that breaks up families through shunning, causes parents to let their children die without blood, propagate a two witness rule that hurts children, obviously Putin does many things that are horrible and unjust but I'm not sure putting the Jehovah Witnesses in jail is one of them I just have to say that. And of course it would be better to put the leadership in jail but in our legal system throughout the world the criminal mastermind gets put in jail and the little guys they direct get put in jail. And the sad fact is in many cases The Mastermind is harder to get put in jail but that does not mean the people under him shouldn't also go to jail.
@raffaeleparisi2 жыл бұрын
The teachings systematicly hurt people, including adherents. Should an individual JW go to jail for being a believer, even though the believer might not be inherently causing harm to others. Sure, you could say that they might be unknowingly spreading a harmful belief or you could say they are complicit by being part of the religion. But does that warrant that the average JW should be put into jail just for believing in something?
@altworldly2 жыл бұрын
Let me put it like this. Do you think I belong in jail for my time as a JW? What about you? JWs are victims of cult indoctrination, and yes, as a result of that indoctrination they cause harm. But it’s not average members who should go to jail. It’s the leaderships who make the harmful rules, and enforce those harmful rules under threat of shunning.

A ONE TRUE RELIGION It is only logical that there would be one true religion. This is in harmony with the fact that the true God is a God, "not of disorder, but of peace." (1 Corinthians 14:33) The Bible says that actually there is only "one faith." (Ephesians 4:5) Who, then, are the ones who form the body of true worshippers today? We do not hesitate to say that they are Jehovah's Witnesses.

It seems more obvious to me that the religious disorder we see throughout the Earth is evidence that God is not real rather than evidence he is a God of order.

@@altworldly Nothing at all but he is programmed to follow without questioning anything. Which is surprising as God gave us a brain let's use it . And as the scriptures say "Make sure of all things ". Unless the GB says differently obviously ;-)

Please stop the background music. It’s distracting and annoying.
