I agreed to a JW Bible study because I wanted to learn about the Bible. After finishing the red Live Forever in Paradise book, I had become very judgmental, a restrictive parent and self righteous ass who still knew little about the Bible. I thought JWs knew the whole Bible because they jumped all over from old to New Testament and back. Now I know that was simply pulling parts of scripture out of context. MISquoting to prove their nonsense. Something profound happened 2000 years ago that changed the world. That event was about Jesus. So I asked him to help me understand. It was so SIMPLE, but that cult keeps producing literature to confuse us.

Keep in mind that they continually put out newer versions of the NWT. It’ll take a lot of work but look up the subtle and misleadings in their newest versions. Never trust their own translation. ( their free Bible study) They are masters at mind control. And are trained to teach the poor mislead to follow blindly. ( all we like sheep are lead astray) My heart goes out to the blind who do not see but are drawn to the comfort they receive from the effort they all teach as love and fellowship. So many people out there want to belong and are longing for recognition. Unfortunately once they are under the tower they are brainwashed into believing their twisted views.

So, I grew up in a relatively small doomsday cult that most people have never heard of called the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. So far I haven’t been able to find any KZbin channels of people who have left ( most people are scared, I think, of the Synod suing them, something they’re known to do), but the ex-JW KZbin channels really help me. I left the Synod a few years ago but the brainwashing is INSANE. They even have their own church schools and their own college in Minnesota. The whole view of Armageddon is the same as the JW’s except we believed that the earth would be obliterated and only the Synod members would go to heaven. We did the same thing as disfellowshipping but called it excommunication. Pastors and elders were intrusive, and women are treated as breeders for the Synod. Marrying outside the Synod is unacceptable. You MUST be baptized, and “bad association “ and “witnessing” was definitely a thing. Families were expected to have family devotions several times a week, and not sending your kids to the church school was EXTREMELY frowned upon. Men were the ultimate authority, and pedophilia happened in our schools. The pastors and elders would even rush to the bedside of a dying person and coerce them into giving a portion of their estate to the church. We had monthly Synod videos in church as well. It was an extreme “Our way or the highway” mentality. On their website, they even state that they are not a sect or a cult!! Sorry for the long post, but ex-JW videos have helped me so much, so thank you for your work .

What a great video! I’ve been looking forward to this one. I’ve been POMO twelve years, believe JW doctrine is utter BS and am atheist now. I personally can’t stomach most of the point by point takedowns of JW talks, conventions, literature etc. Since I don’t believe any of it there’s no point rehashing nonsense. I also find it a little odd that people who once fervently believed every word now find fault with every aspect as if somehow they didn’t just recently believe and practice it. I also find it a little pointless to argue doctrine with cultists- by definition they take their orders from the top down, they’re not going to listen to some random internet video. I’m sure these videos help people in the process of waking up. All that said I really enjoyed this one for the way you deconstruct their cult indoctrination techniques rather than simply arguing point by point. At this point I’m mostly interested in major doctrinal and organizational changes that result from their failed predictions and continued harmful practices. I would have no interest in JWs at all at this point, but I was multi generation born-in and have many friends and family still in, and I share the hope many here have of seeing the collapse of the Watchtower organization. Thanks for the insightful video and keep up the great work.

Even though these people are horrible, amoral men, however that kind of tick/ breathing issue is probably from smoking or drugs in ones life. All I would ask is focus on the bad these people do , really not the health issues, for we may all suffer these as we grow older. my voice interruptions are not as bad however, but it may get that way someday.
