@@amphoravideo you can bore a barrel out of an old steel bolt or rebar or something with a drill and a vise , and you can make a rifling button with a Dremel and a piece of old drill bit that you harden in your kiln. Refer to theIdahoanshow for more in depth detail it was his idea.

@@amphoravideo do you not live in the USA? If you dk publishing files is legal here. It's covered by the first amendment. Cody Wilson made sure of that in court. The files themselves are not illegal. It's the having or giving out/selling physical copies of the parts without being a gun dealer.

@@amphoravideo In the book "That Every Man Be Armed", it explains under your constitutional rights that you are allowed to make your own weapons AND you can share the information on how to. What you can't do is sell the home crafted weapon. Just think of it as how all those gunsmithing books have been sold (Even on Amazon), which would be no different to what you are doing. Just as long as you're not selling a built version of the weapon to someone.

any update on this? i was thinking it would be fun to try something similar but instead of metal, i was thinking of making a silicone mold of the 3d prints, and casting in a much higher quality resin material. smooth on sells some really high performance resins that have much higher strength and heat tolerance compared to 3d filiment. btw, were you planning on releasing your edited files? check out a metal called zamac. its basically an alumunim / zinc ally thats pretty strong, low shrinkage and lower melting point compared to aluminum. i was able to melt it on my stove with the help of a torch.

Unfortunately, KZbin deleted my updates. Too frightening for their tender eyes. Lol. Yes, I managed to cast an upper, lower, front & rear. Definitely usable but not as aesthetically pleasing as I’d like. I’m starting over using a Saturn S resin printer which produces MUCH better prints. It’s amazing. I recently upgraded my kiln by adding a programmable controller which has improved my quality. I plan to try casting it with ceramic shell casting soon. I’m pretty excited 😊 Using a Silicon mold is an interesting idea. They do tolerate high temperature’s pretty well. Seems like it might work. Good luck!!

@vidaemp Жыл бұрын
I'm doing it this way, I made a base piece on the 3D printer, I made a mold of this person and I'm making wax copies, and then these copies go to another mood and I put it to dry in the oven at home, to melt the wax, and with the mold dry and with the wax melted, this mold goes into the oven that I made with an air conditioning gas cylinder and refractory bricks that I made watching a video here on KZbin, if you want to learn how to make this low-cost oven, just browse here by "FORNO DE FUNDIÇÃO CASEIRO"the video is in Portuguese, but watching it is not difficult to do the same

Lost PLA method?
@amphoravideo2 жыл бұрын
Yes, but this filament is specifically designed for casting. It burns out flawlessly.
@kirilandreev71452 жыл бұрын
@@amphoravideo You can use concentrated NaOH or KOH solution at 50-70 degree celsius to dissolve the PLA without need to burn it out. Plain transparrent PLA works best, or use red color to easily identify ane undissolved remnants. At 60C a piece of 1.75mm PLA filament dissolves in less than 3 hours in NaOH solution. Need to 3D print hollow or with minimal infill, and provide flow through the part using some pump. 5W aquarium water pump would do. Can coat the part with heat resistant silicone, which might allow for casting multiple parts. This will do for ZAMAK 2 or other Zinc alloys, but might not work for aluminum since temperature is too hight for most silicone. However, there is one that can withstand 1200 degree C and should work, but is brittle and will not allow repetitive use. In my opinion casting in Zinc alloy is better, since it flows way better than aluminum, has roughly same strength, and casts in much lower temperature. Didn't tested this yet to make any part, but I did dissolved PLA this way and cast Zing in silicone years ago, so it will work. Remember to dry the mould in kitchen oven 2-3 hours at max temp before casting and wear glasses.

Any updates on this?
@amphoravideo Жыл бұрын
Well....there WAS an update until KZbin decided that it was just completely unacceptable and pulled it down. I don't think it actually violated anything but I suppose aluminum frightens them. Basically, I successfully cast an upper, lower, front, and back but they weren't as aesthetically pleasing as I'd like. I've now upgraded to a resin printer and have added programmable controllers to my kiln and furnace. So, my technology and understanding of the process are greatly improved and I'm planning to re-cast them soon. I'll try to post a new video...being careful not to terrify the fragile ones who monitor this stuff. lol

@amphoravideo Жыл бұрын
Because it’s more durable than pla and has a higher glass transition point. It’s a superior material but it’s much harder to work with.
@joselinares48992 жыл бұрын
Ive been wanting to do that for some time, just missing the burn out oven (expensive). How are you going to bypass this process?
@amphoravideo2 жыл бұрын
Short answer is that I use a kiln. Longer version is... I bought a very old electric kiln dirt cheap from Craigslist. I removed the top half and used it to make a small melting furnace. The bottom half is now a half-height kiln...which is PERFECT for burning out.

dont cast a barrel unless you want to die. go and read about pressures. a gun is very close to being a bomb. you couldn't shoot through a barrel made of mild steel safely with smokeless powder. let alone anything else.,

Your warning has great merit. Oddly, I once had a rifle (7.62 x 39) explode when I took it to the range for the first time. It was dramatic. Aim. Breathe. Squeeze. Bang. I stood frozen looking down range through the sites for several seconds thinking "something's wrong" before I slowly looked over and saw blood flowing from my arm. I did not enjoy the hospital visit. 20 years later, I still have small pieces of steel in my arm so, yep...the risks are serious. I'm more cautious in practice than I probably seem. There's a lot more science to casting than it seems on the surface. If I do eventually go down that road, it would involve much research and care...and remote testing.
