Using corn starch or flour to take off excess polish is a little trick I learned from some of the aluminum polishers I use to meet in Southern California back in my over the road days!

That truck makes you look short. The tires are as tall as your belly button.. Ha Just kidding cool video. I drive in muddy rock quarries all day long. My wash only lasts the 1st trip to the quarry. :(

Actually, this is not a good idea on aluminum. It's safe for stainless and chrome, but not aluminum. You are removing the protection (waxes) from the Polishes or compounds. And some chemicals that they put on the roads for snow and ice reacts to cornstarch and causes discoloration. It also makes the aluminum pit faster

A nice, "fun" video BostonTrucker...thank you. Back in the mid-1990's, I drove for Roadshow Services on a Boston (the band) tour. In addition to the semi's, we had two Eagle entertainer coaches. One of the bus drivers knew a guy whose specialty was polishing rigs with his own "recipes"...at a gig in Arizona, he stopped by to dress-up our equipment...it was "something else!" Your video brought back great memories...love your take on "social distancing", too. Take care...

One of the drivers at work mentioned using corn flour for cleaning wheels. We have to be careful about what we use to clean our trucks. We clean them mostly with dish soap. Some driver teams polish their ali wheels and tanks. About 50% of the truck/trailer is stainless my truck is wrapped so there isn't much visible stainless. I would like to have a go at polishing the fuel/hydraulic tanks and wheels. Any tips for polishing wheels by hand? One of our drivers teams only polished the wheels with duels. The two steer axles weren't polished but the other 6 were. We have limited time for cleaning/polishing so I need to find an efficient way to polish the truck and maintain it. Your tanks came out beautiful by the way!

Dish soap like Dawn is a great soap but like commercials say, it kills grease well it also might take wax off your truck so beware.
@warrenholmar11292 жыл бұрын
@@TheBostonTrucker yeah they are fleet trucks. We have to use food safe cleaners. We can't even use screen wash. The trucks are jumbo washed every time we enter the site. Our trucks have a 6 year life span. They typically seem to be still ok at the time we get rid of them.

Hey Mike, question about the Corn starch trick- Do you end up seeing small scratches or swirls from using it? Just curious as I want to try this trick out on some of my aluminum but don’t want to end up with scratches. I’m sure you wouldn’t use it if it scratched stuff but just wanted to be sure. Thank you, awesome content!
@TheBostonTrucker4 жыл бұрын
My tanks already have some light scratches probably from me constantly cleaning it but corn starch won't scratch it but my disclaimer is try it in a section and see what you think.
