After All of My 71 years I finally found My Favorite Blues Guitarist Alvin Lee tonight and I'm enjoying just like when I first heard Alvin play late night on OKC'S FM radio station in 1969 and I've been hooked ever since. Mmm Mmmm! What a way to refresh MYSELF!

One of the best and the most underrated of all time. He is just now getting accolades he should have had years ago.
@timtonner946 Жыл бұрын
Agreed. But the irony is that NOT getting accolades seems to, appropriately, fit that which is the blues. He was a phenom that seemingly existed in the background, maybe where he kinda belonged? And those of us who truly appreciate the blues, legit blues, knew where to find him...

here at 71 I am....knew blues captured most artists from the home country for the English and blues, not saying we don't have a roobost blues community all doing just fine. This offshot of the Mississippi when blues were born and deep. finding blues players from my formerly Rock royally and see Mr. Lee is justly one of the cleanest sounds blues I've heard, and like how time is kept. thought I was gonna break something inside with glee...you had me at hello

People keep asking why the thumbs down, well thats like asking why are some people mute to great performances, no one will ever know why they have no feelings for good jams. Its sad but the lovers of the blues keeps growing brother. Hang in there because we win. RIP Alvin.

The greatest guitarist of the classic rock era that no one ever talks about. Alvin Lee was pure fireball in his fingertips, and was very much suited by the three different nicknames he sported for nearly his entire career, I.E., Captain Speedfingers, Fastest Guitar In The West, and The Man Who Played Faster Than His Shadow. This cat could flat shred a fret board, and his style was very unique because he did it without the use of wah/wah bars, foot pedals, fuzz boxes, or any of the other gimmicks of the day. Just pure lightning speed and God-given ability. Sure miss you Alvin!

@commanderthorkilj.amundsen34262 жыл бұрын
Danny Gatton (The Humbler) probably holds that distinction. Roy Buchanan, Terry Kath, and Alvin honorable mention. The idea of being “underrated” probably applies best to the naive kids and ignorant older farts making up lists for Rolling Stone magazine, and those inane rankings seen here on KZbin. That said, Alvin could share a stage respectably, with any blues/rock players.

Still awesome, right up to the very end. We lost him way too soon. Will always be awed by Alvin Lee. Few, if any, match his virtuosity, intensity, passion, on guitar. In my view, Alvin Lee was the best pure guitarist of his era, better, far more consistent, than Hendrix, Page, or any of the classic rock greats from the 1960s. RIP, Alvin.

Lieber Alvin Lee! Unvergessen. K:)

There are many greats, but each great had his own grandiose style > In AL's day kids would practice 8 hours a day, and many never were"fronted" - heck ;look at Nils Lofgrin being hid back in the corner while lesser talents- you get my point? If everyone sounded like AL, we would soon start to sigh- but when it is heard that AL is the main course tonight= "that is exactly what my palate wanted. I HATE BUFFETS! One player per night, I know I get more pleasure out of my ONE muscle car than Jay Leno's 100:Learned that truth late in life. Get the best that you can afford and KEEP IT!! Sorry how i drift!!

God damn, if you like 'mournful' blues, then this guy is your man. I just cant see how he's above Jimi, Moore, SRV, etc, who had a dynamic style that he breaks out now and then but goes into heartbreak hollow straight away. The blues is about overcoming obstacles not being defined by them.
