My town (lewes) is a weird place to live, they spend all year preparing and all the societies try sabotage each other and spy on each other. You will see an 80 year old man wondering the town with a stick and his family throughout the year then suddenly see him in war paint dressed as a native american marching with a torch and dancing around the bonfire. Very surreal

Great video - it looked like the world’s biggest game of “Where’s Wally?” with added pyrotechnics! @simonindelicate81332 ай бұрын
It is not dangerous at all. I've taken my tiny children to it every year for their entire lives. The 'firecrackers' are agricultural rook scarers and are quite safe. There are not scores of injuries or anything to suggest otherwise. There is a constant tension between the town, its traditions and the authorities who would prefer to save themselves the expense of policing it and this kind of title is a little bit unhelpful..it's a shame because this is otherwise a great video that does capture the event nicely.

I tried to research them and couldn’t find anything about them, so thanks! It’s good to know they aren’t dangerous, it’s quite scary to be next to them. I think I’d need some ear plugs if I went back and I wouldn’t be so bothered by them 😅 I’ll think of a new title 🫶🏼
