Not only has Weezer ALWAYS played covers to some capacity, they recorded a whole EP of covers, one of which is AFRICA I LOVE Weezer. But they decided to -honestly awkwardly- pull "Africa" into their REGULAR setlist. And play it at encore as if it's THEIR hit song and not....you know a cover of an incredibly beloved and constantly played song. To say they "Changed things up" is a lie. They regularly do this. My best buddy brought me to see them in Central Park; At a fleeting silent moment between songs I jumped up as high as I could above the crowd and shouted “Garage!” The lead singer looked to his band mates and said “OK,” with a shrug. Possibly the greatest thing to happen. I saw Weird Al a few years ago. The whole shebang. Costumes etc. It was the greatest spectacle I have witnessed in 36 years of life. Then I saw him this March. No costumes, etc. It was still absolutely amazing.
