AGE vs. HAIRSTYLE Why hairstyles look odd on very young or very old. Concept of age appropriateness. How hair can make an older woman look more youthful or energetic. How hair can camouflage flaws. Please analyze and enlighten us.

❤ Loved this video. A history of layering would also be very interesting. Your blow dryer photo reminded me of Farrah Faucet. And don't forget the 70's Shag. History of chemical curling or "permanent curls" would also be interesting. Might be interesting to compare to chemical- or heat- straightening. Maybe touch on ethnic hairstyles like "Afro" and being authentic and natural compared to curling/coloring/straightening.

You could have added the Dorothy Hamill as a very popular variation on the mushroom. It even influenced countless mothers who decided their young sons would also look good that way. (It was easy to care for). Minutes before I got on KZbin, I was thinking about Anna Wintour. Not once did she change her bob for decades. But it worked. It was classic because of its simplicity and relative modernity. It needed just enough attention to prove it was a deliberate choice but little enough to not be a nuisance. It provided a good backdrop for her impeccable sartorial choices. And she was Anna Wintour; she didn’t need to justify her hairstyle. She dictated the direction of fashion and it influenced the global trends through her print power. Using her body as an unchanging paper doll was brilliant to keep the focus on the creativity and perfection in taste that her own clothing choices expressed. It was also so useful to a woman with a job that kept her very very busy and traveling constantly. And of course, it was a flattering style for her face. I liked this video. Thanks!

So interesting, Aly. The only thing I might add is that we had blow dryers in the 70's. I remember how exciting it was...how very modern blow dryers were when they first became mainstream. We all tried to blow dry our feathered Farrah Fawcett hair w/ round brushes. I could never do it. Then again, Farrah had hair as thick as a horse's mane. By the 80's I'd given up on the round brush and used the blow dryer to set my hair sprayed bangs four inches above my head.The higher the better ;)
@noragallivant4 жыл бұрын
mt mama Actually, I didn’t know anyone who had a blow drier in the 1970’s in L.A., and my brother’s wife was a model. I had hot rollers, then a curling iron. (We did have these canister type home hair dryers with a bouffant bag and a hose before that. You put your hair in curlers and then inside the hair dryer.)

Half of the comments: aww your accent, aww you made a mistake here, aww I'm gonna teach you proper English. Seriously?? Appreciate the content English is far from being her native language and it's great. Not everyone is a freaking native English speaker. Try saying something in Russian without any accent lmao
@jasmeen57124 жыл бұрын
They are not being mean, they give her feedbacks because they want her to improve, it shows that they appreciate her, that they are willing to write a comment and make time for her. There is nothing wrong with that.
@jasmeen57124 жыл бұрын
And trying to correct her does not mean they don't appreciate her content.
@NvardQueen4 жыл бұрын
Sorry, but I have to disagree. If you are watching a video that has nothing to do with languages and your only desire is to leave a comment about the person's accent, it's not cool. Not about her ideas, opinions or the subject, but about her mistakes or her accent?! Go through the comment section
@jasmeen57124 жыл бұрын
@@NvardQueen Well, I think we'll always disagree (but thank you for your calm and constructive answer). Not wanting people to point out your mistakes is not wanting to get better. That is why some people are sensitive in my opinion, they revel in their ignorance and don't want to improve. And again, if people let that type of comment, it is not to be mean, it's for Aly to improve her communication which is very important in video, especially if she wants a larger public. I am French so I probably made a lot of mistakes writing this comment, if you take the time to correct, I would be thankful not hurt, like for this video. But if Aly herself says she doesn't like it or if she likes your comments, then I'll be wrong. Have a nice day!

Amazing job, you did a ton of research! This is fascinating. Especially the Egyptian craze. (I noticed Brigitte Bardot was mentioned in early 20th century rather than the 1960’s. Maybe there was another famous Brigitte at the time who was one of the clients of that hairdresser of Greta Garbo? Not trying to be critical; I’m sure there was a reason for that.)

Thanks for your hard work, it is very enjoyable to watch. I got a bob last week too so quite timely. I was also a 90s teen and some of those celeb photos had me cringing a little...all the girls in my school copied the band TLC's "T-Boz haircut"...I got the Reality Bites "Winona" bob..Thank god that still looks cool....I also got the Hackers movie Angelina Jolie pixie ...not so flattering...eeeek. 😭😭😭😭

That brown Bob from 2000 I had in 1988. I had a young hairdresser in germany that talked me into it. I had copper, gold, light blond and dark red in my hair and it took over 4 hours. She stopped working because she was pregnant. It took me 10 years to find another hairdresser who be as good as she was.

That was really interesting Aly. I like bobs on many people but my hair is curly so hairdressers always just layer it. I’d like to have some sort of long bob. How on earth did people with curly hair manage bobs before straighteners when it was so fashionable to have very straight, blunt cuts? The worst trend in many ways has been the use of straighteners because so many girls have long hair that’s badly damaged and messy, thin ends. I love your hair in a bob. I also thought that lipstick is gorgeous on you with that colour jumper.
