Marion was not incompetent at all in the first film. She was kind of a damsel, but she only found trouble due to her proximity to Indy. She was also tough as nails.
@Armaldo468
@Armaldo468 5 ай бұрын
Yeah, her only problem is simply that she wasn’t given much to do in the movie. Fairly solid character with very little opportunity to actually contribute. It’s kinda that always-frustrating Dragon Ball Z effect, if you get my meaning. (If not, the gist of what I’m getting at is that a lot of characters in DBZ were very well established as extremely capable, competent, and strong, yet most of these characters were consistently under-utilized and even outright misused for jokes. As someone who loves that legendary old franchise-and indeed, Dragon Ball Z is one of very few anime I even like-this is my main gripe about it. So much wasted potential, so frustrating.)

The Marion disrespect! Hate to see it Yes it was ink in the eye, you had it right. I’ve never had ink in my eye but I don’t imagine it feels pleasant. And it was squirted in, there’s gonna be a reaction. Important to note: Indy and his dad aren’t immortal now. The immortality effects of the grail stop when you pass the seal in the temple, or maybe when the grail is taken past the seal. “That is the boundary and the price of immortality.” Maybe continued drinking is required. It’s not entirely clear. In the novelization the knight explains he aged a year for every day he didn’t drink, so that’s why he’s older, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he stopped being immortal when not drinking, he just lost youth.

The Malamute we see at the start of the film is the one Indy is named after & is a nod to George Lucas’s own dog. During the time when Lucas was writing Star Wars, his own Malamute would sit next to him in the front seat of his car whenever they went out for a drive. This hairy co-pilot Lucas had, gave him the inspiration for Chewbacca!! The boat chase, wasn’t actually filmed in Venice. It was shot at Tilbury Docks near London; virtually all the studio shooting for this film….as with the previous two films was carried out at Elstree Studios. Hitler was played by Michael Sheard; older fans will remember him as Mr Bronson in Grange Hill….as well as Admiral Ozzel in The Empire Strikes Back. Heinrich Himmler was played by Ronald Lacey; who previously played Toht in Raiders of The Lost Ark. Walter Donovan was played by another former Empire Strikes Back cast member; Julian Glover was General Veers. Glover was also the voice of Aragog in Harry Potter. However my favourite role of his was as Colonel Breen in Hammer Films excellent ‘Quatermass & The Pit’ from 1967.

Here's a neat bit of trivia for you: the actor Julian Glover, who plays the prime villain "Donovan," also played the primary villain (Aristotle K.) in the "James Bond" film, "For Your Eyes Only," (although James Bond was played by Roger Moore in the film,) and he played an imperial officer (General Veers) in the second Star Wars film, "The Empire Strikes Back." (edit: "For Your Eyes Only" primary villain name correction.)

Disregard anyone who says not to bother with Crystal Skull. Crystal Skull was what Spielberg envisioned, the first three were inspired by adventure serials from the 30s and 40s. Crystal Skull was envisioned as sci-fi camp from the 50s. It's what he was thinking. So please bother with it.

You say that as if it is proof that Crystal Skull is good, but what Spielberg was envisioning is irrelevant. Even the great Stephen Spielberg has created some garbage. Most fans consider the Indiana Jones franchise a trilogy, and I'm in that camp myself. However, she can certainly watch it for herself, if she wants, and make up her own mind. No reasonable adult is going to tell her, you or anyone else what they must or must not watch or like.

There's one Raiders movie, and then there's a bunch of sequels. I don't believe your reactions. They all feel rehearsed and phoney - Second Viewing. There's no shocked spontaneity. You say some things very specifically ahead of them happening, and your facial expressions just aren't believable.

Like I replied to your previous comment on the Raiders reaction, I'm afraid you're simply just mistaken about it being a "second watch". Believe what you want, but I promise you it's incorrect.

45:55 That's the kind of nightmare fuel that'll scar someone for life. But not Indy, he's the definition of "nerves of steel" and "seen it all."

What you thought was in Egypt is actually Petra, Jordan. This is the real site of the ancient civilization. They have many monuments there, including the one you saw.

Non of the set pieces are up to 1 or 2. The end, Nazis and Sean Connery is what elevates the film. what the heck have you done to Marcus?

I've gone back and forth between this film and Raiders, but right now I think this is the best Indiana Jones film. It's incredibly funny and has loads of fantastic bits of slapstick humour, but it's also got a lot more heart thanks to the whole father-son dynamic. Harrison Ford and Sean Connery have such great chemistry and play both the dramatic and comedic scenes perfectly. Plus, it's got that cool flashback intro scene with River Phoenix as young Indy (pitch perfect casting, he really was such a great talent that we lost far too soon), the action scenes are fantastic, and John Williams scores a hattrick with the score for this one. I think pretty much everyone agrees that they should've stopped after this one, both Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Dial of Destiny have their moments, but they're both quite disappointing and neither can measure up to the original trilogy in my opinion

I totally agree, both Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Dial of Destiny should never have been made

You keep noticing how Indy desecrated graves, destroyed ancient sites, etc. You should know by now, that he constantly destroys ancient sites and shows little respect for the dead. If he were an actual archeologist in the real world, he would be one of the most notorious for his wanton destruction of relics, graves and sites in the world. ...makes a good movie though. :)

Maybe he would be more careful if there weren't people trying to kill him constantly. Or kill his friends, or kidnap his family, or...

Ignore those telling you to stop here. Watch the last two movies in the franchise, they're not that bad. Also, the place where the Grail was hidden is a real place in Jordan that you can visit. The outside is, I believe the inside was speficially made for the movie.

Ditto, say what the Indy Die Hards on the fourth and fifth film but at least the younger folks have a more respectable opinion compared to the ones who say that the Original Trilogy for Indiana Jones and Star Wars are the only ones in existence.

This is the best Movie of Indiana Jones ❤ Curious fact. Sean Connery's James Bond was the inspiration for Steven Spielberg and George Lucas to create the character of Indiana Jones. That's why in this movie he is LITERALLY Indiana Jones' father.👏👏👏👏 3:58 Rest in peace River Phoenix, for me the best actor in cinema.💫
