Blade 2 is honestly one of the best comic book movies ever made. And this movie was made 20 YEARS AGO!!! Imagine what it would be like if present day Guillermo Del Toro made this movie!?!?! Also the “reaper” breed of vampires later influenced him to make both the book series and tv show The Strain, which has some of the scariest vampires you will ever see.

Some fun facts 1. Snipes admitted this is his favorite Blade film 2. Ron Perlman and Luke Goss would together again in another comic book film Hellboy 2 Golden Army 3. Perlman and Curran have the honor of playing multiple comic book characters in film and shows Perlman (Blade 2 as Reinhardt, Hellboy franchise, Teen Titans as voice of Slade, and Punisher Dirty Laundary as Big Mike) and Curran (Blade 2 as Priest, Punisher tv series as Fin Cooley, Thor the Dark World as Cul Borson, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen as Invisible Man, X-Men First Class as Man In Black agent, and the Flash as Despero) 4. Norman Reedus would later be in another Marvel project years later as the voice of Punisher in Iron Man Rise of Technovore 5. Donnie Yen a martial arts star who plays a member of the Bloodpack (Snowman) was also the film's fight choreographer. 6. Scud wears a T-shirt featuring the logo of the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense a reference to Mike Mignola's Hellboy (2004) comic the film adaptation of which Guillermo del Toro directed and Ron Perlman starred in. 7. During the fight with Nomak in the church part of the House of Pain the stained glass window is a replica of Dr. Strange's (another Marvel character who battles the occult) medallion the Eye of Agamotto. As a fan of the character Guillermo del Toro expresses interest a few years later in developing a Dr. Strange movie with writer Neil Gaiman but the project was rejected by Marvel at the time. 8. Pop Icon Michael Jackson was originally going to have a cameo in the "House of Pain" sequence as a "Vampire Pimp" that Nyssa encounters as she searches the upstairs hall. Jackson had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts and the part was played by a Czech actor. The sequence was ultimately cut out entirely for pacing reasons. 9. The only movie in the Blade trilogy that used its original written ending. Blade (1998) and Blade: Trinity (2004) went through reshoots to improve and/or replace their respective original climaxes. 10. David S. Goyer's original idea was to use Morbius as a primary villain but Marvel decided they wanted to retain the rights to make an entirely separate franchise out of Morbius - i.e. a Morbius film so the story was changed slightly and Jared Nomak was created to be used as the primary villain instead 11. The look of Damaskinos is based off Nosferatu and the idea of his skin looking like old marble. The look for Nomak and the Reapers were based off numerous incarnations of drawings by Guillermo del Toro and concept artists but primarily based off the mutants from Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970). 12. Although it is often thought that the Reaper vampires in this film served as the inspiration for Guillermo del Toro's vampire series The Strain (2014) it is actually the opposite that is true. Del Toro had originally conceptualized the Strigoi which are the vampire antagonists in The Strain many years prior to the creation of Blade 2. He utilized his own original concept and changed certain aspects about it for Blade 2 so that it would still stand somewhat independently of his original work. 13. The name Caliban is a reference to the monster in William Shakespeare's The Tempest and a reference to the mutant from Marvel's X-Men. 14. Tim Curry was considered for Damaskinos 15. The body armor that Whistler is seen wearing in a large amount of the film is actually Blade's body armor from the first movie. It looks too big on Whistler which gives further meaning behind a line in the first movie where Blade says a UV flashlight is "still heavy" and Whistler replies "But you're so big." 16. The phrase "a man without fear" is used in this film. This is another Marvel comic book reference to Devil's Hell Kitchen Daredevil. 17. In addition to this film Tony Curran (Priest) plays another vampire the antagonist Marcus in Underworld Evolution. 18. In the 2 years training to hunt Blade each member of the Bloodpacks role to counter against Blade is as followed Snowman is the counter against his swordplay. Light Hammer counters his strength, Verlaine maybe counters the technical side of him. Chupa counters his heavy firepower, and Reinhardt & Priest are the point men meant to counter his short-range attacks. 19. When Blade tells Whistler to keep your friends close and your enemies closer he moves to the right, as you can see Scud over his left shoulder. 20. The only film in the trilogy where Blade does not engage in a sword fight with the villain or concludes with one. He does fight Nomak twice with his Ninjato but Nomak is never armed with one. 21. During the Reaper autopsy Nyssa muses that they are different from vampires as vampires are from humans. This implies somewhat early on that The Reaper strain is not a natural mutation because it conveniently has so many biological defenses to things that commonly kill vampires. 22. Snipes' quoting of Sun Tzu - "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer" follows references to the works of Sun Tzu in many other Snipes movies including Passenger 57 (1992), Rising Sun (1993) and The Art of War (2000) it's become his trademark

there is a third Blade movie called "Blade Trinity" not to spoil anything but Ryan Reynolds is in it and I think this movie is what got him the role as Deadpool
@movietalk42107 ай бұрын
Don't know if Blade film had anything to do with that... but as far as I know Ryan got interested in playing Deadpool, because in the comics Deadpool once described himself as "Ryan Reynolds crossed with a shar-pei". That line is referenced in the first Deadpool film, when he said that he looked like he got "bit by a radioactive shar-pei". He first played Wade Wilson in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, then took part in "leaked" test footage that finally convinced the studio to make an actual Deadpool movie.

Blade Trinity is still a good movie, just don't compare it to the other 2 and let it stand alone
@curiousquietboy77 ай бұрын
It's cool that you're enjoying the Blade movies. I think that this sequel adds more to the vampire lore and story in the Blade universe with the addition of the gruesome and bloodthirsty reapers. This movie is gorier and more action pack. As for the "Can you blush line?" line that was told on Blade by Reinhardt here's an interesting movie trivia. In the Blade 2 commentary they actually mention why the line was implemented. Apparently Wesley Snipes who plays Blade was telling the director a story about how some Austrian asked Snipes that very same question "Can you blush?", they didn't go into whether or not the Austrian was being racist, but Snipes said he "got a very good tongue lashing". When the director heard him tell the story, he wanted to implement it into the movie. It has something to do with Blade being black and because of that he was asked if he can blush. It might also be because Blade is part human and part vampire. It might because he is only half vampire and blood does run through him, and you need to have blood in you to blush. Maybe they were insulting him because he wasn't a full vampire...?
