Regine is saying that once she is in those kinds of competition and the contestants sings her songs, she gets uncomfortable, because she can be too strict to them since she clearly knows how to sing it by heart. But Alyssa nailed it and RV likes it. At 14:47 Regine says “You sang it even better than me..” Humble Queen. But for me, Regine still sings it effortlessly. Congrats to Alyssa too! Good job!

Alyssa Quijano was a co-member of Katrina Velarde and Monique Lualhati in a group called Newborn Divas (AKA Jam in X Factor Philippines ) .Then Charice (now Jake Zyrus) met Alyssa again when she auditioned for X Factor in 2012 or 2013 (unsure of the year) where KZ Tandingan won. If u don’t know, Katrina Velarde had a sing-off with Charice when they joined Little Big Star which was hosted by Sarah Geronimo.

I totally agree with you ovela. It's not about how powerful a voice is, but how it captures me. A good example would be Moira and some other artists. Ps: nah, vice does not think that james is hitting on alyssa. Vice feels distracted... Coz she wants to look at alyssa but her peripheral vision always catches james.

If I remember it right, Alyssa is a former X Factor Philippines contestant which KZ Tandigan also a contestant. Alyssa was been included to the group wherein Gary V formed during that time. In addition, Qui is pronounced like "Key" and "J" sounds like "H" since we are influenced by Spaniards before.

But for me an amazing singer is someone who can tell a story through their voice. Thats why im happy that singers like moira, even james, and bands like IV of Spades are emerging.

I just have to say, it isn't JUST about belting that you get acknowledged here in the Phils for singing. Its about "buwis buhay" (life threatening) performances that get reactions MOST OF THE TIME in any performance, like cut-throat belting for singing, or acrobatics in dancing, etc. But if you can't perform these "buwis buhay" acts then you have to be exceptionally unique. You have to perform something phenomenal that people haven't seen before, like KZ or El Gamma Penumbra. That is because Filipinos are so hard to please and the competition is so stiff that if you don't literally endanger your life or offer the audience something unusually good performances, you won't get any recognition.

11:13 Hmm, I don't think so. It used to be like that, but not anymore. Maybe, belters trend in social media for amazingly singing high notes but that's about it. When they start putting out music or concerts, people ignore them. What's popular now are some emotional/relatable songs that don't require a lot of high notes. Acoustic singers, bands & rappers. That's why Moira is there sitting as a judge. She's one of those singers. Also, actor/actress turned (not so good singer) sell more than actual singers. That's another thing.

I’ve seen a homemade video of her singing with then Charice. Her voice was powerful and gorgeous! I’m sure she was inspired by Charice’s high power belting days. fun trivia: Katrina Velarde and Alyssa were in a girl group formed during X-factor philippines. There were 5 or 6 girls, who auditioned individually but were put together by the judges and their group was called AKA JAM. Gary V. was the judge who became their mentor. KZ won the competition and Charice was one of the judges.
