Finally!! Someone with my texture! I tried the Olaplex 0 and 3 for the first time a few days and ago after trimming my ends and I was SHOOK at the immediate definition, smoothness, curl pop-ability! I felt I had insane results. Not too impressed with the price but I think I can squeeze at least 2 more applications with the 3 (only one more with the 0). Really interested to see Curlsmiths' situation as I think there is more value for the price. I've been natural for 15 years and have NEVER done a protein or bond treatment; you CAN teach a seasoned cat new tricks! Thank you for the side-by-side; I'm looking forward to trying Curlsmith!

Nice review, but need to see long term results. Everyone does immediate results. Comparing cost doesn't make sense if one is purely a bond builder, water and preservatives, the other has bond builder, water, protein and a ton of other things. So it's comparing apples to oranges. As a chemist, I wish they gave you all more scientifically sound bites to say. But I appreciate the review anyhow.

Yes! This has been my issue with the olaplex vs curlsmith rhetoric going on, not picking on any content creator at all, but curlsmith seem to be marketing it as an alternative to olaplex, but I don’t see them- based on ingredients and science, being similar at all. Also, I wish there would be some long-term use before these reviews come out.

So what’s the difference between the two should we use both
@TheCurlyFitChicOriginal3 жыл бұрын
@@saharasimpson4350 Olaplex is a bond builder and the Curlsmith product is more of a protein treatment. If a person has low porosity hair they would not use the Curlsmith product. They would use the Olaplex one. If you don't have low porosity, technically you can use both. If I didn't have low porosity hair, I would try one for a couple months and then try the other for another couple months. Then I would stick to the one that gave me he best results. Thats just me. I don't buy unnecessary products. They must have a purpose and I must see great results.

I want to see an actual ingredient breakdown so I can see what the difference is. I'm wondering what the actual chemical bond builder is in the CurlSmith product to get a better sense of how it actually works. My hair doesn't really need much protein and I still get at least 4 uses out of each Olaplex bottle on my shoulder blade length, color treated hair, but I'm intrigued by this product... I'm looking forward to seeing your updates over time!

Check our MAD Curls, Taylor Anne mentions the ingredients. Both ladies made their comparison videos this week.
@DrBromL3 жыл бұрын
I think it is an important question because looking at both they are quite different and I think comparing something with protein vs a pure bond builder is misleading. I like that at least Alyssa mentioned that. It also changes the percentage of active ingredient vs size of the bottle.

olaplex has the No3 in a 8.5oz size during the holidays I got quite a few bottles to last me for the whole year of 2023. sephora in kohls had the 8.5oz so I used my sephora points and kohls cash brought 4 bottles 224 was original price I paid 115 after using my points and kohls cash and nordstorm had the kit of the 8.5oz No3, 4 and 5 for 79 dollars retail I had to get that too cant beat that price the bigger bottle of the No3 alone is 60 bucks it really is a good product my curls are always so defined when I use it, I have been wanting to try the curlsmith though seems like a good product.

Love your videos because I have the same curly hair. I always rinse my hair and wrap it in towel until it is damp before applying the bond. I use heavy products on my high porosity hair and want to be certain the bond is able to penetrate my hair strands. My hair drinks it up! I use a little more than half a bottle for each application. Love Curl Smith Scalp line, Bond treatment and Confitioning masks. I have t tried the Curl Smith styling products yet. I style with Camille Rose products.

First, I love your hair! Now that is out of the way. These are two different types of products. Therefore, I don't get the comparison. When you look at the ingredients of both you can see the Curlsmith product has way more protein. Thus, I would consider this more of a protein treatment and those with low porosity hair (like me) should not use. Also, it would have been better to show what your looked like after you washed out both products. I know when I use Olaplex I see an immediate difference upon rinsing. My hair is more shiny, there isn't any frizz and my curls are more defined.
@freemindsloveforever3 жыл бұрын
Olaplex make a bigger bottle. 250ml for £52 or 100ml for £26 @lookfantastic imo use 2min reconstructor by Aphogee for protein and olaplex every other week for protein v bond maintenamce, always deep condition after both for mosture balance. For long term boost use 2 step Aphogee protein every 3 to 4 months. Again always deep condition after. Keep it simple and dont over complicate. Xx

Im absolutely giddy, I got the 250ml for £33 on black Friday, the day before and the day after they had it down to £42/£45 can't remember, absolute steal. And I've never used it before so £33 might hurt less than£52 if it didn't work

Just for clarification... Does use “every 3-4 wash days” mean use after 3 or 4 days (ie. Tuesday, Friday, or Saturday) or does it mean 3rd wash or 4th wash in a month? This subtle distinction, especially in color treated hair is important.

I’m sorry to tell you, but I just heard from a Vlogger/Influencer curly hair stylist (who broke the devastating news about DevaCurl being poisonous and started a FB Page about damaged DevaCurl hair), that Olaplex just changed hands, and now she’s seeing damage on her customers who use it. It’s just like DevaCurl; I’ve used it for 10 years and it was absolutely fabulous! But then the company creator sold it, and I, my teenage daughter, and who knows how many other 1,000s have bald spots and straighter hair. So maybe research or just stop using Olaplex. This is the 4th or 5th hair product companies now with terrible reports. The FDA needs to start monitoring them.

I’m not sure about this brand as I was surprised to find that some of their products contains sodium hydroxide in the ingredients, it’s the main ingredient used in hair relaxers that makes the hair straight as well it’s the main ingredient for drain cleaners or unclogging drains, I don’t know what else they use let’s not forget Deva curls disaster, do your research and don’t use products before checking the ingredients and that’s what I do as well there are certain products that contain ingredients which transfer to formaldehyde when you use them, mostly found in tresemme so watch out as this brand or others could do the same.. If you don’t believe me check Curls Smith wash & scrub detox pro-biotic shampoo ingredients and it’s not the only one, sodium hydroxide cause cancer, skin irritation and hair loss and more..

She literally mentioned how the CurlSmith made her hair feel soft as usual but that she also didn’t see a difference. She also said she had curl definition and no frizz, but that the Olapex side felt differently because she think she used too much protein. It’s a paid promotion so it’s inevitable to mention pricing.
