My favorite CK II play through was one that I started in 769 with Ragnar's bloodline. Eventually I formed Scandinavia, took over most of Europe, and got the Alexander bloodline. However my Empress at the time was old, infertile, and a lesbian. She died a few years later with no offspring and her titles passed to her nephew but not the bloodline. Earlier in that same campaign one of my ruler's got the duelist bloodline. This led to an event chain where he traveled to the Abbasid Caliphate and was basically just murdering every high ranking person he could find. Eventually he was captured and died fighting the Caliph's pet bear.

@AftermathRV5 жыл бұрын
@Herdan What the fuck do you mean they never became a world power. They had europe by its god damn knees, and that was basically all you needed to do to be considered a world power at the time. Its hella impressive that a nation that, at the time, barely had 1.3 million total inhabitants at the time could crush denmark-norway union, then poland, then lithuania,poland again, the brandenburg prussians and then almost crush the russians and live to tell the tale 30 years after they, btw, devasted germany and central europe in the name of the reformation to a point where people in north germany still learn in school about how we literally went back to the dark ages a second time, thanks to gustavus adolphus.
@eazyv20695 жыл бұрын
@@AftermathRV A contention to that would be it was never going to last. You're quite right to point out their lacking population and that it's impressive they got so far with so little, but it's also an insurmountable obstacle - tactical victories don't necessarily equate to strategic dominance and Sweden has never had the means to be a universally distinguished world power akin to the Eastern Roman Empire. It's the exact same conundrum Pyrrhus faced. Admiration for events is one thing, but then there's just overemphasis. Describing 'vikings' as an extension of 'Swedish' dominance in any capacity either is pretty fundamentally off-base.

You made a mistake: forming India gives you the samrat chakravartin bloodline (it gives monthly piety, -1% revolt risk and +5opinion to hindu/buddhist/jain), the ashoka reincarnation bloodline works in a similar fashion to alexander's, but instead of europe or the near east the event requires having a capital in india and following a dharmic religion (on top of being an emperor, not content with at at least 15k prestige) Also, a personal favorite of mine that I feel deserves a mention: the irish bloods of both biran boru and niall of the nine hostages unlock tanistry succession (regardless of culture, I just incorporated it in a steppe nomad game and I have the option to switch), arguably one of the best successions in the game

I dont think it's possible to argue that tanistry isn't the best.
@drakan47695 жыл бұрын
@@Colmcille_ It's definitely one of the top two, the argument being whether or not it's superior to eldership (it has the advantage of less electors, which are easier to handle and are always the same electors for all titles, but the disadvantage of only being available for specific religions and with specific doctrines, which are not necessarily the best). On how the succession itself works eldership is certainly better, but considering the restrictive requirements to get them I favor tanistry, which doesn't even need the culture if you incorporate the bloodline (and even if you don't two of the cultures you can use are really strong anyways, as opposed to the sub-par doctrines required for eldership)
@Colmcille_5 жыл бұрын
@@drakan4769 Yeah, only problem is, is some places with certain governments, monastic feudal, chinese imperial, dont allow elective at all, which makes it really hard to get bloodlines smoothly. In that case Open can be quite nice, as it's basically elective but with land. But with the exception of that and anyone who is Romuva or African, tanistry is amazing.

@@ryzziktrognesou1 Looking at the wiki it says you need to be Cruel, and also one of Possessed, Lunatic and Cannibal though I'd go for more than one if possible. Ultimately just complete the basic requirements and hope for the best, as there is always an element of luck and even if you complete the reqs. for one blood you also completed ones for the more basic ones and by pure odds you are more likely to get them.

Lots of them are good. I personally like Conquerer (forged through ambition after winning 15 foreign wars) which gives you improved chances of capturing both artifacts and courtiers in sieges. Fantastic for any raider! More ransoms, more chances at accelerating a war by capturing the enemy's children, more opportunities to scoop up courtiers with congenital traits or bloodlines for your breeding program.

Worth noting that the Alexander Bloodline is both better than you mentioned (Invasion CB can seize entire empires, if you put in the effort to siege down the top holding of every single province in their realm) and not actually that RNG reliant if you play your cards right. The more similar your character is to Alexander the Great, the faster the event triggers, to the point that it becomes practically guaranteed if you even have just a handful of the desired traits. You also got the Samrat Chaktavartin and Ashoka Bloodlines confused. Forming the Empire of India doesn't give you Ashoka's Bloodline, that's formed via random event chains, just like Alexander's.
@publicanimal5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I get the Alexander bloodline in every game shortly after forming an empire, it doesn't seem to be rare at all. Then if you make all your top vassals people in your dynasty who share that bloodline they'll expand your empire for you using the invasion CBs and all you have to do during most of your reign is just try to keep your strong vassals from going bankrupt by feeding them gold when they're bleeding money. I started my current game from the 'Iron Century' start as a count in Brittany and now it's in the early 1300s and I have almost the whole map as part of my empire.

By the end of my playthrough all my progeny were pretty much born with 5k prestige off the bat and had like crazy high opinion modifiers.

Alexandrian CB at least, and probably all invasion CBs, lets you take far more than one kingdom, it will vassalize or usurp everyone in the target kingdom upon victory. But also you directly take any other land you occupied, so in theory you can fully conquer any country in one go if you occupy all of their provinces.
@benwest21124 жыл бұрын
That’s so funny. I am on a William the Conquerer campaign at the moment. Remaining Norman in culture and renaming Britannia to Norman League. My goal of the campaign was actually to conquer all territories that were historically once held by Normans + France and Norway because the Normans had special connections to these countries. But thanks to lucky crusades this quickly turned into a world conquest campaign. And one of my Emperors was lucky enough to get the Alexander even chain and i didn’t know until now who rate it was, but I can definitely agree on how useful this blood is. I’m now alternating between crusades and invasions and get one Kingdom after another.
@publicanimal5 жыл бұрын
The Alexander bloodline is insanely OP. If you become an emperor and have members of your bloodline as kings or powerful dukes as your vassals, they will usually put their once per lifetime invasion casus belli to good use. It makes conquering the world almost trivially easy. Kind of game-breaking to be honest.

Playing as Bohemund de Hauteville I once got six bloodlines. He starts with his own bloodline and I managed to pick up the white knight, another crusader bloodline, the Outremer empire, the Alexander bloodline and the Immortal bloodline. Sadly the Alexander bloodline is kind of wasted on an immortal ruler since you only get the invasion once, but he still ended up going over the vassal limit and I doubt I'll ever be able to top that. Funnily enough in the After the End FF mod I discovered the equivalent to the Alexander bloodline, the MacArthur bloodline, sadly haven't been able to nab it yet.

Best bloodline is Alzabo bloodline.

I think the video exaggerates the rarity of the 'Blood of Alexander' bloodline. I've never had any trouble with obtaining it, as long as I've a decently sized empire. Heck, I've triggered it on my 2ND character once. Once you get to crusades getting the necessary prestige is trivial and the time to trigger isn't too long

Anyone know the event ID to gain Alexanders Bloodline?

What about the irish bloodline (forgot name) that gives you their election type of succession? Its the one I always try to get first. Almost garantues good rulers.

I kept hearing "seven-sixty-two starting date". However, the earliest possible start date is 01.01.769.

I once played as Jerusalem, got 3 bloodlines, one saint, one of conquest, and the Alexander one, but my son died, and with him my dinasty.

I got a bloodline from a canonized character that kinda look like a lite version of blood of empress Marine le Penn: It didn't had personal combat skills and monthly prestige gains, but would convert countries to religion faster and instead of +20% damage against religious enemies and +5 christian opinion, it was +10% and +5 christian church opinion

I managed to get the sly blood with Ragnar Lodbrok and bred in the blood of Ashina along with reforming the Norse religion with Ancestor veneration. So yeah pretty over powered

This add speaks volumes to how little Ubisoft cares about their IPs...Erathia was the world of Heroes of Might and Magic 3 whereas Might and Magic 3 took place on the Isles of Terra. That little screw-up in the advertisement blurb pissed me off WAY more than it should have...

The immortal one is nice too. Giving 1 health to everyone. Of course you have to get rid of the immortal since the campains always get boring fast.

Ragnar actually existed, we know because of English raid diaries kept by Christian monks. His deeds were likely entirely fiction, but boy did his kids like raiding the English isles.

Neat -- got all the "historicals" you mentioned already ^^ Alexander seemed relatively easy as orthodox Bulgarian though (imo). Does anyone happen to have experience/tips how to reform Israel btw? 2nd age Khazars seemed to be promising, but so far I couldn't find a proper way South, that didn't shatter the domain within 4 generations... please & thanks!
