You can also make food prices extremely low with government programs in this game (which is accurate to what countries do in real life). In both my games, in which I played i super left wing, food was really cheap as well. I’m a farmer from the rural south, and I love me some government subsidies because it keeps food cheap without fucking the soil up.
@donald3472 жыл бұрын
@@カスカディア国人 Have you not been paying attention to the price of food lately? Farming subsidizes do nothing when the state disrupts supply chains and destroying your purchasing power. Anything can be made cheaper with tac payer money lol. The market decreases prices without the need for us TO PAY FOR IT.
@カスカディア国人2 жыл бұрын
@@donald347 the prices would be even higher right now without farm subsidies, and they also help preserve the soil. This is standard agricultural practice in most major countries for a reason.
@カスカディア国人2 жыл бұрын
@@donald347 supply chains being disrupted by the pandemic is hardly the fault of the government, they would’ve been disrupted anyway even if the government had done nothing at all, a bunch of people getting sick means things don’t work how they should because they can’t do their jobs while sick, even more people would have got sick without the lockdowns during the worst periods, lockdowns that not everywhere did, they didn’t do lockdowns where I live and it was still miserable and a ton of people got sick, plenty of people here were unable to go to work simply because they were sick, and even when they did do lockdowns in other places essential services kept running. Doing nothing is not a solution to a problem like this, unless you want the healthcare system to totally collapse on top of having the supply chain issues. Part of the problem with supply chains too is that your god the market likes cheap over seas labor, it’s not the government’s fault they would rather set up shop in developing authoritarian regimes where people get payed nothing, that’s the fault of greedy men who want more money themselves and don’t care about their country and countrymen or the well-being of people generally. A government that does nothing is a failed state that has abdicated its responsibility the people and societal stability. This ideology of “government does stuff = bad” is the most idiotic thing to come out of western philosophy and is not reflective of reality, it’s just a lame excuse to not fund infrastructure or important programs and to abdicate all social responsibility to large corporations, this doesn’t mean they abdicate power though, they never do and no government ever will, it just means that instead of that power being used to develop society, it’s used to protect corporations and the status quo.

When playing with three parties consider putting yout main opponent in the middle and the party in between you and them in the right side. The game makes no assumptions about political orientation. The party on the middle will stand against everything you do and the party on the right will be in between (I know it doesn't make sense UI wise). So as an anarcho-capitalist party it makes more sense for the labour party to be your main opposition, and for the conservative party to be in the middle. I love how anarcho capitalists claim to be against hierarchies...

They are but they tolarate them As they will always exist Unlike the other anarcists who are against them all together

They claim that they are only against 'involuntary' hierarchies (and stretch the definition of voluntary to an extreme degree)

I've tried making the American ancap party, and I got voted out after one term

I managed to get 2 terms role playing as the Japanese Communist Party. The game will punish you if change too much too quickly (which is what I did in my second term). You have to plan out your reforms wisely. In my Germany game I was in power for 18 years until I intentionally made myself lose by doing a bunch of unpopular stuff at the end (because I wanted to test the limits of how far you can go with your popularity, apparently people really don’t like microchips, a police state, drones being everywhere, and censorship) you also have to pay attention to the things they tell you at the beginning of a turn, if the global economy is doing bad, you have to be extra careful about what you do because it becomes easier to lose GDP and enter a debt crises, this alone isn’t necessarily enough to kill you but combined with some unpopular policies will end your game.

If you enter the game with the mindset of “I’m going to compromise and reform slowly” you can take a country in whatever direction you want.

The good ending
@endlesssolitaire7313 жыл бұрын
@@カスカディア国人 I created a fascist socialist theocracy with chips, secret courts, total censorship, closed borders (no right to leave country and maximum border control), mass murdere and so on. Censorship works well if it is total. Everyone was happy because prior to that I made sure that most people would support my policies. Ironically even the economy was doing fine, I just had to keep hyperinflation to justify the permanent Emergency state. And somehow I had private space program with a socialist economy (or to be more fair as much socialist elements as the game allows). People in this game love dictatorship when it does what they like just like IRL.

@@endlesssolitaire731 doing “socialism” and managing the economy was easy, it’s just that doing authoritarianism was hard in every country I played as besides America and Spain, in those two cases all I had to do was cater to the religious, and conservatives and they let me do whatever I wanted, in all of my recent play throughs I was winning 99% of the vote so I was able to have a bunch of points even without emergency powers. On my UK play through I managed to get all the way into the bottom left corner with a strong budget surplus, and I had to introduce term limits to end my game because it was never going to end and I ran out of stuff to do 😂 I think the game is a bit too dumbed down, what the game calls socialism isn’t necessarily socialism most of the time, they should add in worker cooperatives or something (and more things to nationalize), and when it comes to playing authoritarian they should also make it to where if you erode democracy enough you need less votes to win, because in a lot of cases dictatorships are only really supported by about 1/3 of the population, they just either prevent the “wrong” people from voting for every seat, control who is allowed to run, or they outright rig the vote (or they do all three of those things) it would be nice to have the option to do things like that.

@@jacobderamo9187 Giving you the choice between voluntarily becoming my wage slave or voluntarily living on the streets. If you, for whatever reason, can't work anymore and are not viewed as an economically productive piece of capital for someone else, good luck choosing something else. It's the illusion of choice.
@endlesssolitaire7313 жыл бұрын
Which society doesn't end in a hierarchy? Oh, stop, the hierarchy in some form exists anywhere from the beginning. And at least capitalism gives some choices to most people.
@endlesssolitaire7313 жыл бұрын
@@YungMoomin If you think that this is a bad choice you don't know what is the alternative. At least you are not assigned to your workplace under a threat of prison and possibly even arrested and executed or sent into concentration camp for not being productive enough (yeah, this stuff also happened, I even found official documents about it from USSR). And yes, you can always head to the region where houses have a price close to 0 and survive on subsistence farming. The reason people choose to be "wage slaves" is their desire for the luxuries modern civilization produces which obviously is not a motivation for anything connected with slavery.
