You said so many things in this that were not only incorrect and misguided, but downright ignorant and rude. The first couple things you said, I brushed it off, then you did more, making me go “oh damn, that’s not right, I guess he’s just super unfamiliar with her work.” And I wanted to start typing and addressing your slights and inaccuracies, one by one, but then you just kept going and if I did, this would turn into a fucking dissertation. But beyond you CLEARLY not knowing shit when it comes to her music, you started throwing shade as if the only things you know about her are from TMZ headlines. I’m honestly glad you’re taking the time to actually sit and listen to her music beyond whatever earwormy song that wouldn’t stop getting played everywhere in 2012 to the point that you just wanted to turn it off and got turned off to her in general. And listen, I get it. No Swiftie is a Swiftie because of her poppy radio shit. We’re here because of the songs that never got airtime and you’d only know if you listened to her whole album. We’re here because of the beautiful, profound songwriting that is so carefully and so expertly crafted. Her pen game is unparalleled, and she really is one of the greatest writers of a generation. She can tell stories that are like full fucking movies, so vividly that you can practically SEE it, and all in just like 4 minutes. We’re here because she’s a genuine and sweet person, and so endearingly so. We’re here because, sure, she’s insanely rich, but still seems like the girl next door that you’ve known your whole life and never changed. She’s somehow still so relatable that when she pours her broken heart out onto the page, we feel it too because it perfectly mirrors our lives, our broken hearts, our experiences. So I’m glad that you, at the very least, stopped and listened to a song like Exile, because it encapsulates so much more of who Taylor Swift is and what she does than any lame ass Shake It Off that you thought she was only capable of. And I hope you explore more of her work. It will probably surprise the hell out of you. But please, for the love of god, take your bullshit preconceived notions and stick them somewhere else other than sprinkled throughout the whole fucking video, because you honestly had my blood boiling and I was debating the whole time on whether to turn YOU off and be turned off of YOU forever, or to chew you the fuck out in the comments. But Taylor would never want that on her behalf and Swifties generally try and educate instead. But I’m still going to tell you that you were talking out of your ass, and if you continue down this road of listening to more Taylor Swift- which you should (no fandom will flock to your channel and support you more, too)- you need to dial it the fuck back and go into it with an open mind and not go into it expecting it to be awful and throw shade at it the whole time like you did here (and if you do, trust me when I say no fandom will turn on you harder and faster and you may as well delete your whole ass channel now).

Em… I’m pretty sure I went in saying I expected it to be shit and then finished the video by saying I really liked it? Isn’t that kinda what you would be hoping for? I’m not disagreeing I went in with a bunch of preconceived notions, but I also went in fully willing to be proven wrong, which… is kinda the point of the channel. You kinda sound like the middle part of your comment is appreciating me being open-minded, but the start and end are telling me to fuck my self for not already knowing everything about something I’m doing a blind reaction to lol.

The reason why people underestimate Taylor's songwriting ability so much is that most of what they heard is only catchy singles. She shines the most in the deep cuts that present on every album of hers. The title "the music industry" or "one of the best songwriters of this genernation" is actually given and acclaimed to her by famous critics. If you want to check out more of her stuffs, get ready for great story telling, great live performances (yes she's a heck of a performer, too), and her depth and maturity as a person. A few suggestions to check out her songs: - All too well (10 mins version) - Evermore (feat. Bon Iver) - The whole "folklore" album (I'd recommend watching the Long Pond studio version of that album where she goes in-depth about every songs) - Champagne Problems - Tolerate It - Right where you left me - The Lakes

His pov is one wherebits still very raw, hers has moved past that, shes sad but she already mourned the end of the relationship because by the time it actually ended shed already processed it and moved on emotionally, but he hadnt read the signs or heard how unhappy she was.

Great reaction! I always love seeing people discover her music and talent. This song wasn't a surprise to fans; she's been writing heart-busting lyrics since her teens and has only improved as she's grown. She's a beast with lyricism and melody writing. I'll preface this by saying I'm a huge Swiftie so I'm very biased lol. Your preconception of her is wrong. It is justified: alot of her singles are designed for radio play and so not her best work. Also, because the public/media were sensationalist and very unkind to young female stars in the 2000s, her image/talent as an artist was really skewed from a slow trickle of propaganda that she was this talentless man-eating serial dater only famous because of her looks/celebrity. Alot of non-Swifties still carry a bit of that preconception around without even realizing it. I urge you to go back through her discography with an open mind, you'll fall in love with her style I promise! Yes, even her pop stuff 😂 An example from her early work "Dear John," has great lyrics -- she wrote at 18/19 years old. Cheers, would love to see more!! ❤

Nice, I’m glad you gave this a shot. It’s a great song. Taylor wrote the song except for “step right out….”. Her pop songs pay the bills but her songwriting is spectacular. She has a way of just bringing in real life situations that everyone can relate to. Folklore & evermore are her pandemic albums. From folklore, try “my tears ricochet” ,”this is me trying”, “peace” which is Paul McCartney’s fave song on the album. Songs from evermore: “evermore” ft. Bon Iver, “tis the damn season” written in the middle of the night while drunk, “Marjorie” about her grandmother, “champagne problems”, “tolerate it” and the evermore list goes on & on.

This was a really enjoyable reaction One thing I did learn from her Long Pond documentary on Disney Plus, the section of the song you thought was likely written by Justin Vernon was written by Taylor and her Boyfriend Joe. The middle 8 that you found to be a tad country and suspected was written by Taylor, was written by Justin Vernon 😂 This and the following lockdown album converted me to a Swifty (Her new album, Midnights, a mature, dark, ethereal pop album is also great)

I'd say that Exile is a song that tells the story of an extremely common way that relationships end: breakdown of communication. The man in the song is bitterly lamenting that his ex just left him one day, never gave any signs that something was wrong, never gave him a chance to fix it, and he still doesn't understand why. He sees her with her new boyfriend and is pissed off about the whole thing. The ex, on the other hand, is pissed off at him for being pissed off, because she gave so many signs, and they all got brushed off, and nothing changed. After all those instances piled up, she got sick of it and left him. And how dare he act all bitter now, after she gave him so many chances and nothing ever changed? He made his choices, and now she's nothing to him, and he has no right to act jealous. Meanwhile, in the bridge, jury's out on how well the ex-girlfriend was actually communicating. She says "you never learned to read my mind", as though to some extent she expected that. I've seen it both ways: where a woman gives a lot of signals she thinks are very clear but in fact they aren't, and where a woman is truly communicating well but the man just doesn't pay attention to them at all. I feel like the song leans towards the latter, but there's definitely room to interpret it as the former. In any case, there are many failures of communication, and the relationship breaks down as a result, leaving a man feeling blindsided, and both parties feeling bitter and hurt. Perhaps you've already heard of this, but if not, Taylor did the Long Pond Sessions, where she discussed each song with her two producers and recorded fully acoustic live versions of them. Seems like that might be interesting to you! Also: I don't know if you've ever listened to her pop or country albums in full, but if not, you might be surprised by some of the deeper cuts in them! She picks her most pop-y songs to be her singles because, of course, they'll sell the best, top the charts, all that jazz. But most of her fans would agree that they are almost never the best songs on her albums. They're usually a strategic choice, rather than an artistic one (I'd say the big exception to this is Look What You Made Me Do, which was a very thematically significant choice for a leading single; in spite of it not being the best song on the album, I don't think she could have chosen anything better as a single for that era.)

Taylor Swift is the best song writer of our generation. Most of this song was written by her except for the "so step right out.." part which was written by Justin Vernon from Bon Iver. If you want recommendations that showcases songwriting skills, then I can recommend a few songs but she has dabbled in so many genres that it's difficult to pinpoint just a few songs. If you like the indie / folk vibe, you can react to the entire Floklore and Evermore albums. While she usually has a biographical/diaristic style of writing, in these, she took inspiration from literature (the great gatsby, rebecca, poetry of wordsworth, etc) and wrote songs in fictional settings. If you like more pop sounding songs, with some devastating lyrics, I can recommend songs like All too well (10 minute version), dear John, would've Could've should've, soon you'll get better, nothing new, ronan, never grow up Honestly it's all good. I suggest that you look at each album in depth starting with Folklore and Evermore, then Red TV, Lover, Midnights, Fearless TV and Speak Now TV. Wait for Taylor's version of 1989, reputation and her first album before reacting to those.

The problem is, if you listen to the singles and decide it’s not for you, everyone gets annoyed at you lol. @@markabusireactions -Swifties are drawn to all things Taylor Swift, so reacting to the entire album is always a good idea. You’ll be most successful with it by letting your followers know from track one what you’re doing. Just do track one first. Listen to her and the boys discussing the lyrics (they all sit outside of the Long Pond Studio which is in the Catskills I think. It was Covid!) followed by them in the studio recording that song. That should def take less than 10 min. And don’t cut the song short. You can stop it a couple times to comment, but fans love her music and don’t like when the song is skipped along. If you really want to excite the Swifties, if there is a music video available, watch that last. But you’re in it for 15plus min if you do that, but her music videos are like movie quality! It's called having a vocal range. Neither his high falsetto or low register are artificially manufactured. Watch any live performance and you will know what he sounds like. Yeah… that isn’t what I meant by immature, though. I meant her pop songs are pretty basic, radio friendly fare. As opposed to the songs that I’ve been listening to on the folklore album, which are more mature and nuanced. Now, everyone has been pointing out that all of her albums have songs like that on them, but I also said at the very start I only knew her radio songs. So… I stand by what I said.
