Bon Iver is technically the name of a band. The guy singing is named Justin Vernon, and he's the lead singer of Bon Iver. it is an Indie/folk band. This song is TRAGIC to me. "You didn't give me any signs, why are you leaving?" "I gave you so many signs, you didn't see them, and I'm leaving."

Their "call and reply" on this song is so conversational. It brings me to tears every time.

I like to think that when hes dueting "so many signs" with her, he's admitting he DID see the signs even though he initially said she didnt give a warning sign. His protective walls cracked.

Justin (male singer) is a really private guy. He also wasn’t actually there at Long Pond - it’s why the setting looks different for him. There is a video where she joins him on stage to sing, in London, and it’s LOVELY if you like live songs. The Long Pond Studio belongs to Aaron Dessner, the guy playing piano in this video. He’s one of the guys who worked with Taylor on the album folklore; Jack Antonoff is also around, and was the other producer on folklore. This is the first time the three of them got together to play that album together; it was written during lockdown when they were in different parts of the country. Taylor found it so inspiring to be with them that she went off and wrote another whole ALBUM offscreen… and released evermore 15 days after The Long Pond Studio Sessions was released on Disney+. This is also the first movie she directed. And yes, it’s still on Disney+. Also, when you have the opportunity to listen/read to the album versions of these songs, or the music videos, you should - the arrangements are very different! Final thought: even if you don’t record it, be sure you always watch the interview she does before each song on the Long Pond Sessions. They’re with either Jack or Aaron and will tell you a lot about the song and Taylor in general. Cheers!

God I love this duet. Justin's voice is haunting and Taylor's is gorgeous. It's a gorgeous haunting. LOVE Justin with Taylor. They also do Evermore and Coney Island together. Those are low key like this one but still ohhhh so good. Brings the feels from past loves invoking so many emotions promoting healing. This is why I love Taylor so so much.

This was during Covid lockdown. Bon Iver’s (Bo-knee-vair) lead singer has a stunningly beautiful voice! The Long Pond Studio is a studio in upstate New York that is owned by Aaron Dresner, who is in the band The National. ❤ They make the most beautiful collaborations together. The whole Long Pond Studio Sessions is something I highly recommend you watch. They go into commentary and the meaning behind the songs in that set.

the harmonies in this version at the end are SO SMOOTH and heavenly... I remember the first time I heard a VERY slight difference in how smooth Taylor's harmonies were in the last few notes compared to the studio version... I got shivers and my breath caught in my lungs. I replayed just that part a few times for that heaven. The part I mean in particular (in your video's timing is the parts after about 8:00...)

She explained how this collab happens in the movie! And bon Iver (pronounced eee-ver) is a great musician on his own. I recommend starting with his self titled album but there’s a good chance you’ve heard something from his first. 22 A Million is probably my favorite from him though. He used to also be featured in some Kanye songs during MBDTF. This is one of my favorite taylor swift songs, so glad to see someone appreciate it for the first time!

Do end game if you want to hear taylor rap lol. END GAME is featuring future and ed sheeran and personally i think it was super underrated when it dropped. The bad blood music video is a crazy one you have to do. She is a fantastic creator and director on top of being a musician/performer. Also the long pond studio sessions are worth watching at least once.. She has definitely experimented with her sound through the years and done so successfully.
