The interview with DiAngelo was a prime example of why this movie only works with people who already agree with Walsh. DiAngelo told Walsh that he was being “weird,” and she was clearly uncomfortable with what he was doing. Just like the participants in his mock session. He undermines his whole point because, for the most part, he’s the one pushing the ridiculous behavior, not the subjects. He comes across as obnoxious while they are earnest and well meaning. He should have kept focusing on the financial angle.

@tubetorpedoАй бұрын
@@AriD2385 _"The interview with DiAngelo was a prime example of why this movie only works with people who already agree with Walsh."_ Except nothing of that has to do the main point of the film concerning the whole antiracism industry in US (which has long ago spread outside of it). Walsh playing weird character or DiAngelo being uncomfortable has nothing to do with the points movie brought up; e.g. how small white girl liking Moana is great because she likes 'character of color' (which is apparently good thing), but her dressing up as Moana e.g. for Halloween would be "cultural appropriation" which as a whole makes little sense. That you should show appreciation towards some fictional character based on their ethnicity, but you should never do that e.g. by dressing up like that character because you happen to have wrong skin color and cultural background. Even more so if one has pondered whole subject any deeper like the concept of cultural appropriation. E.g. things like Japanese Kimono would not exist without cultural appropriation because Kimono is based on Chinese dresses Japanese people copied and modified over hundreds of years until over time they had created something that is considered as distinctly Japanese garment. By culturally appropriating and copying Chinese styles. That is how most of cultural and technological development of humankind has ALWAYS happened, people see some cool new thing, copy it and over time and iterations it becomes some totally new thing. Be it clothes, music, food, architecture or anything else. Copying and sharing has always been the power behind development and progress, from art to technology. Who would want to stifle that unless you think everything worthwhile is already created and invented and development is not needed? Also not agreeing with Walsh in this movies context would mean person is totally ok with whole illogical concept of antiracism trainings especially when more and more studies have come out that such trainings and thinking only divides people more and more. Of course if the person thinks it's good thing that stupid people get swindled out of their money, so in that context Walsh exposing suspicious actors is a bad thing. Also apparently decent amount of money from 2 hours of conversation let DiAngelo forgive a bit of weirdness from the person who talked with her.
@nealorr5086Ай бұрын

I mean... "Supersize Me" was the biggest no-shit movie I've seen in my life (Fast food is bad for you? Surely you jest). But Morgan Spurlock still went beneath his food experiment and talked about nutrition, sugar content, the obesity epidemic, and fast food corporate influence. Walsh doesn't do nearly enough of that legwork for me -if you didn't know DEI and anti-racism workshops were a thing, now you do- so it just felt kind of lazy. I mean turning the Washington monument into the George Floyd monument and increasing its size by 30% is funny but there's so much you could do with 'white liberal anti-racism' it was a missed opportunity. You can preach to the choir but have an informative, thought-provoking sermon.

The production looks so good and they did not need to hide to make the film, because they paid the far left grifters and told them they make a documentary about racism. That critics are to afraid or political biased to even talk about this movie shows that Adam is not right and how important this movie is. They even do not say it is propaganda like Adam does, they are simply not allowed to talk about it in the media and Hollywood bubble. Only youtube critics, like Adam, outside that bubble are independent enough to talk about it. Also there are many left wing political documentaries no conservative or right winger (and almost nobody else) cares about and no critic is afraid to talk about. Michael Moore for example is far left and his documentaries have clearly a left bias. A right wing or conservative documentary on the other hand is extremly rare.
@nealorr50862 ай бұрын
A good example of a left wing documentary many here would remember was Making a Murderer, It, ironically, was just propaganda. Candace Owen's counter-documentary totally wrecked it.

I think the problem with the movie is that Matt Walsh just isn't that funny as a person. His sense of humor is very dry and it doesn't lend itself well to this style of mockumentary comedy. If you look at the comparisons like Jackass or Borat, they have leading characters who are wacky and over-the-top and it makes the scenes funnier to watch ordinary people interact with someone so cartoonish. But Matt Walsh basically just plays himself. Have you seen "what is a woman?". I haven't really seen this one yet, but I think "What is a Woman?" has a much more serious topic and maybe a much more important topic than this movie. It is kinda mind-boggling that a lot of people now, especially young women, couldn't define or scared to define what is a woman.
@Allgloss3122 ай бұрын
No one is afraid to define what a woman is. The fact is that what gender is and what it means is something that is evolving, and reactionaries are mad because they dont like the new definition. The truth is the younger generations are generally not very interested in gender. Thats why so much of gen z is non binary and much of gen z strives to break down the barriers of binary gender because its quite archaic. Simply put i think more and more people dont care what a woman is, because people are fed up with the binary gender system. Just like race, gender has been created and used as a tool to create a hierarchical structure in society and exert control over and oppress those who arent at the top of the pyramid. Reactionaries cant stand that ideas and perceptions of gender are evolving, so is the science and evidence around gender and sex and they cant stand that so they have tantrums and make these bad faith documentaries to try to stop society from making any progress.

The point of Matt's disguise was to be purposely bad, if you recount, his outfit is copied from a previous interviewee from his previous film. He's playing the part of the poorly disguised man, but all the one-on-ones he did with notable people like Robin were real, because there's no reason why a grifter would play along in a film calling them out. I also don't think there's much room for nuance with the idea of DEI. Do not hire people based on race, and let things take off from there. Employment discrimination is prohibited anyway.
