TLP makes a great point: if these people are serious about their cause, they should be actively going against the con artists who monetize "the movement" for their own financial gain. But now I think about it... perhaps they can't. Because, if they did, they'd realize that "the movement" is nothing but a grift. Worth considering.

He’s different than Borat in terms of his intended target. Borat would frequently target normal people and make them the butt of the joke. But Walsh makes these elitist grifters the butt of the joke, and when he’s talking to normal people then HE is the butt of the joke. It’s a nuanced play. Agree that this is intended as a comedy while “What is a Woman” was not. In that film, Walsh is an interviewer who springs a trap, so to speak, and challenges people. In this one, he plays a character and believes everything that he’s told.

What's possibly working in Jeremy Jahn's favor is that he doesn't really have many social media sites, and active ones at that. The first rule in beating cancel culture is acknowledging some of it in the first place. What better way to avoid the noise than living away from it? Jeremy Jahns is a true critic. I was lukewarm on him early in his career, but he has won my support over the years as he has matured in his critical views. Heck, he’s one of the only critics I know who even went out to watch the Book of Mormon movie that people from my church made (and yes, even we agree that movie is a humongous turd), so he’s clearly open to try watching anything. Critical Drinker is so brilliant and insightful, clearly laying out the facts and logic in a way too few can or are willing to do. He does it with brutal honesty but never malice or self-promotion. If I were a Hollywood project leader, I would ask for his input on every screenplay. Imagine, if they really listened, how much better the plots and characterization would be and how much the studios would save by altering or axing terrible movies or streaming series before they were made.
